If They Ask Where You Went...Say Skyrim

I have a ton of games I want to play, things that I already own, and I’m trying to be smart about it. I don’t see why I’m going to waste 60 on this, not play it for like 3 or 4 months, when I could get it then for like 30 or 40 on sale.

Or, I’ll buy it, put all the other shit on the backburner and end up in the same position with another game. I’m really trying to cut down on my backlog.

I see that.

I’m still shuffling backlog, to accommodate the newest hotness.

I HOPE to get Dark Souls played out before Friday.

But I still haven’t played through U2, and the only reason I have U3 is Target’s 3 for 2 sale, and having to buy my lil’ bro’s X-mas games, anyway.

Why is the industry so retarded?

They’re only shooting themselves in the foot having almost all of the killer titles release 4th quarter.

i have no idea what that chaps talking about but yh keep up the good work.

anyway here is a good post for the tes website, http://www.elderscrolls.com/community/making-dragon-sandwich-sound-skyrim-0/

yeah i am in the same boat. I want this game soooooo bad, but even earlier in the year I sensed problems.

I gotta finish Rage, and Batman Arkham City (beat it but wanna do all the extras), I am messing with DCU, and I have a half dozen other games I’ve been tinkering with, plus all my 360 games I’m 75% done (Fable III, Star Ocean, Nier, Alan Wake, etc). And Ultimate MvC3 is out soon, AND Halo Anniversary.

I may just ask for this for Christmas and hope for some free time around then (although I do have two weeks off at the end of the month, sooooo…)

2:1 says I get a guilty pleasure feeling and walk into the EB’s near work to snag this anyways, like I ended up doing with Rage

and yeah, Clu 2, ALL games launching 4th quarter is gonna hurt the industry, but sadly games dont sell well the rest of the year :frowning:

Q4 is where the most money is made. I can’t see how that is shooting themselves in the foot.

Because getting $60 out me for each game if spread out during the whole year is better for them than releasing them all in a glut during Q4, thus causing a bottleneck for my gaming time, and causing me to wait to make some of my purchases at a later date, ultimately netting them $40~20 for games that would have scored them $60 if released during a different part of the year?

Gamefly don’t fail me…

Once again, it’s the fact that most of the money is made in Q4. It’s the Publisher’s goal to release their biggest games during the busiest time of the year. They don’t care that you don’t have time to play every game you want, only that you play theirs.

bingo. I still havent even picked up Gears 3 (HINT HINT SECRET SANTA), but with all the other games I have on my plate, I will just pick it up used or GOTY or whatever, down the line.

I haven’t even thought about MW3 or any Kinect stuff

If publishers want to release ALL at the same time, dont get upset when a few quality games sell poorly, due to me not having $600 to spend on games during the holiday season. I’d rather have a great game to buy, once a month, instead of 6 all at once.

Oh boy this is gonna be straight up torture for me. Skyrim on the 11th and UMVC3 and SRTT on the 15th. What the hell do I get first? :frowning:

They should.

To paraphrase Russell Crowe playing John Nash:

“Christmas is the hot blonde at the bar, and Adam Smith was wrong.”

Nov.15th alone can go fuck itself in the ass -____-

Man, I have like 67 games that I still need to play but im sure as fuck gonna buy this one. And im gonna play the shit out of it.

P.S. Publishers dont give a fuck if you play their game only that you buy that shit.

So… $40~20=$60 to them?

well, TECHNICALLY, they sell it to the distributor for full price…if the store has to lower the price to sell the unit, they still make money off it, sadly.

My local PC world has the PC version on display, but no point in buying it thanks to Steamworks!! It would have cost me the equivalent of $25 more to. So the pre-order is still in motion.

I understand where you’re coming from.

But GoTY edition is where I’M coming from.

I’m getting it this Friday as soon as I get home from College. I’m so excited the hype can’t be contained. I just hope for more varitety in the armor, I want my character to feel unique, if not more cosmetic armor, helll i’ll go into battle with clothing on if I want to be that badass.

Me thinks i’ll be rocking an Male Argonian Warrior on my first playthrough then maybe an Female Imperial Thief on the second.

Hopefully I don’t get to the part where I fall down and bleed to death.

I think with all the blaming the industry does on second hand sales and piracy and all that other shit, they really should look at this as a factor as well. Inevitably I will want to play some of the big titles that come out this quarter, but I probably won’t be buying them till march or april of next year, due to time. And I can probably get them for 30 bucks then.

We’ve seen more games tumble quickly in price this gen than pretty much any generation in gaming. Ever. And I think this release schedule they’re all doing is a part of the reason some devs aren’t getting the return they think they should.

Oh well, fuck it. I’m not going to complain six months from now when I can get some titles for half of what they cost right now.

Just a heads up, those that ordered this through Stream, it’s up for pre-load right now.
