If it will please the jury: the phoenix wrights team thread

Basic Sausage plays this team but instead it’s Hulk/Wright/RR and RR’s assist is Log Trap. It’s a pretty good team and he runs it well. Type in Basic Sausage in youtube and you get a lot of videos of him playing.

That’s mostly why I don’t think Pendulum would be a useful assist for him. Maybe I can tell him to try Spitfire (such an underrated assist)

I just did and the videos I found were of him getting destroyed. Either way, he had some sweet stuff I can show my friend when we get together soon.
Also I played around with the team in training mode a bit and I kinda found the team to be really fun myself. Maybe I’ll [S]take the team for myself[/S] try it out for a bit as a fun side team. Always wanted to play as Wright anyways

Underline text are the once I put.

Just doing this so that some people won’t get confused.

Any of RR’s assists work for Wright but I think you should stick with log trap since it’s useful to keep off opponents and continue combos. Just avoid throwing it out randomly and use it when the opponent is in the air rushing you down with attacks, air dashes and that random air shit. Works 80% of the time

I’m in progress of trying out RR’s spitfire and claymore trap. Definitely has a lot of potential.

Sort of unrelated, but RR is horrible on anchor, he’s best at 2nd slot. So PW and him will have to fight for it. Although if I had to choose, I guess I’d rather have RR anchor than PW.

I’d say that’s plenty related

Hmm… Are there any other characters that would work better than Rocket? Maybe Amaterasu? Although I have no idea if Hulk and Ammy work together. Wright/Hulk is great. My friend will stick with Rocket, but I don’t think I should. (Sorry for all the questions lol)

All this stuff is good to keep in mind. Thanks.

I;d say you do have a good anchor PW… IF he;s in TB mode. And that’s a big if. If you don’t get PW in Turnabout mode, you WON’T have a good anchor. Do you trust your PW enough to be able o get him into TB mode consistenly? If you do, no worries. If you don’t, you’ll have to switch someone out.

Even with turnabout mode?

I kinda believe in RR as an anchor. He’s alright IMO. Sure some people think he sucks as an anchor but honestly, I’m doing alright with RR as anchor. I get my skills of Anchor RR from people who use him as one (Forgot the name of the guy… Kurron? Something. He uses a team of V. Joe/Frank/RR)

TM only lasts for 20 seconds. If you can’t kill in that time you’re pretty much screwed.

Also the guy you’re thinking of is Kusoru.

Tried the team out with actual people and I’m surprised I won as much as I did. Getting 1 mil damage from a full combo with Hulk and Steel Samurai Maya Smelting is amazing. Also, is it just me, or does everyone completely underestimate Wright’s Paper Throw? People just keep walking into it and then stand there once they figure out that I’m just gonna keep throwing it out. It’s hilarious watching people continue to get hit by it over and over and over (Paper Toss + Log Trap is lol).

Also put me in the “Wright Anchor is complete butt” club. Nearly every time I tried saving TA Wright for last, it would run out and I would get trampled.

Loving this character.

(And honestly, he’s way more fun to play in Trial mode than in Turnabout mode. He seems so safe on block on almost everything. Not only that but watching people try to do a hyper and just be like LOLNOPE and doing an Order In The Court into Gamma Crush/Mad Hopper is so great.)

I’ve always used PW as anchor, and he rarely lets me down. Trick is killing whoever you get TB with fast enough that you have enough TB mode leftover to use him as anchor.

Eh, so the first team I had wasn’t really working out right. I was never good with Dante on a technical level and I feel he’s beginning to inhibit my team. His assist is fine, I just personally have trouble using him. So anyway, I wanted get an opinion on a new team.

Wright(Missile)/Taskmaster(H. Arrows)/Akuma(Tatsu). The general idea is that Tasky helps with Nick’s zoning and Akuma’s basically a GTFO off me assist. How’s this team looking so far? Also, I don’t know which Wright assist would be good for this team. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I think it’s a good team since you got two great characters to fall back on should Wright die, I would keep missile assist just for the mixup options though most of the time I think you would be using Akuma’s tatsu to keep the opponent locked so you might not have the chance to use Wright’s assist. IMO

Paper throwing club member here.

Just avoid saving turnabout mode when you only have 1 or 1 1/2 bar left (Swap him to second when that happens). When you have beyond 1 bar of turnabout meter, STAY WITH WRIGHT ON POINT. You might not be able to finish the match unless you got XF.

What he said. It’s all about the amount of time left.

If the time management isn’t then… Alright, that’s fine. Point/Second Wright is great too.

Anyway, I’ve been staying at Trial mode more often than getting into turnabout mode. I’ve been winning more that way since I’m not that reliant on turnabout to win the match. Half of my games since last week are usually me getting into turnabout mode when 1 out of 3 enemies is down because of trial zoning then I object the 2nd character then kill him too easily which leaves 1 character.

Skrull still pisses me off. Lol. Anyone have any advice other than using another characters.

Does anyone else HATE XF3 TB Wright? He’s so fast, I can’t control him.
[Cue Phoenix Jokes]

Probably not the best of help, but all I do against Skrull is either chicken block and throw when you see them in the air at all, and just Paperwork High when they do Meteor Smash. It usually trades or just stops them entirely if you called it at the right time. Although that doesn’t happen much because they never really do it without cover. Other than that, I guess you can switch out to another character via Crossover Counter or whatever it’s called.

That’s one of the reasons I try not to use him in XF3.

Adding to what LagunaGuy said it really depends on how much the Skrull player knows about Wright, so try putting out maya shield and see how the opponent reacts to it. It’s going to be either be a ground or air grab, if the opponent knows about Wright then most likely it’ll be an air grab.

If the opponent is pressuring you with rolling hooks you can dodge those with :d::l: oh and also watch out for the resets I would say check out the Skrull guide/board:http://forums.shoryuken.com/t/super-skrull-guide-by-hi-im-nastyy/134870/22

My advice for fighting Super-Skrull as Phoenix Wright?

…You don’t fight Super-Skrull as Phoenix Wright. Seriously, don’t bother trying if you can help it. It’s far, far better to switch to another character for the match-up than dealing with a character that Wright has absolutely no tools against. It’s even hard in Turnabout Mode. That’s how bad of a match-up he is.

Yeah, you’re thinking of Kusoru. His RR has leveled up over the time since he started getting recognition, but I’m just saying that RR has a pretty safe way of getting people in and out through DHCs and just dropping a trap / hard tagging. I guess it depends on your playstyle with him, but I found that once I switched him 2nd I got a lot more mileage out of the little woodland creature by keeping my point safe, switching in and out between characters, and also his mixups get way better. If you get a chance, put him second you’ll see what I mean.

Well, after playing quite a few matches online, my Wright/Taskmaster/Akuma team KINDA works. Synergy is decent and the assists and characters themselves seem fine. Only problem I have is that I have NO IDEA how to get people off me with Wright(rushdown basically). I mean, I can only call Akuma so much before he either goes away or I get him killed, lol. Oh and I always want to hit myself in the head when I’m in Investigation Mode, thinking I’m in Trial Mode, and try to use a good piece of evidence and instead throwing it away stupidly.

Probably not the right place to ask, but besides Akuma, what should I be doing to get people off me/stopping rushdown? I know blocking is good, which I do, but I find myself ONLY blocking and eventually I’ll get opened up. Figure I need to be more aggressive, but it’s hard with Nick’s normals. Any advice?

You can…

[]Throw out random Maya supers.
[
]Tag out and wait for a better time to investigate
[*]Mash throws.

Alternatively, you could try putting Haggar on your team. His assist pretty much just stops rushdown cold.
