If it will please the jury: the phoenix wrights team thread

Accidentally liked your post. Sorry.

Wright’s paper assist/break the witness is good for Frank since it does so much hits. Missile is not needed because both Frank and Chun have OTGs. A good Chun Li assist would be her gamma assist, lightning legs. It does a good job of locking down near by opponents, like the shopping cart of Frank.

I think a better team arrangement would be this : Wright (a/b)/ Frank West (a)/ Akuma (b). Chun Li is well… Not ass but compared to the whole cast, she is. She can’t get in and to get high damage, you really need tight execution.

Alright, I just don’t know who I want to use with Hsien-ko/Phoenix Wright anymore. So far, there are four characters that kind of stand out: Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange, Sentinel, and Trish.

Doom’s Hidden Missiles are insanely good for both Hsien-ko and Wright, and he makes a solid anchor. But the thing is, while I wouldn’t mind using him, I’m just not that big of a fan of Doom.

Strange is cooler IMO, and he’d make me team a low-tier team which is kind of cool, and Bolts of Balthakk are useful to both the others too… but it’s just not as good as Hidden Missiles. And I can’t do his Impact Palm combos to save my life.

Sentinel’s Drones are probably the second most useful assist out there next to Hidden Missiles, and I like Sentinel’s super armor and invincibility, and relative ease of play. But again, though I wouldn’t mind playing him, I’m just not a huge fan of the character.

Trish is a little different. Her Low Voltage is okay for Hsien and Wright’s mobility issues, but it doesn’t really help Wright gather evidence. Meanwhile, her Peekaboo is pretty useful for Wright’s evidence gathering, but it offers pretty much nothing to Hsien-ko, who would have no assist whatsoever to help her with her terrible mobility. The main reason I’d use Trish, besides the fact that I think she’s cool, is because Round Harvest is a really useful tool for Wright to gather evidence, especially if I use Peekaboo and THC into it. But the problem is, neither of her assists are anywhere near as good as Doom, Strange or Sent’s assists, and both Hsien-ko and Phoenix Wright are really dependant on assists.

Any thoughts?

Use Ammy and her cold star assist if you don’t want to pick from the 3. However, if I we’re to pick the 3… I would pick Doom. His missile assist is great and his combos do a shitload of meter gain and damage

Just imagine that the Doom you’re playing is the same one from the Assist Me! series and you’ll find him more likable. At least, that’s how it worked for me. I usually can’t stand to play as evil characters.

I have my reasons of not wanting to play as other characters… Like Strange because his jumping :h: is a kick which is more damaging than his jumping :m: which is magic “cut”. Same goes for his standing :s: lol. I have my ridiculous reasons.

anyone can help me specially whit tha yogurth lover dr doom :frowning:

PW/Iron Man (Repulsor)/Doom (Missiles) Thoughts?

Wright (Y)/Doom (B)/Thor (B)… any thoughts?
Got few combos with Doom/Wright & Thor/Wright…

I’d would switch Iron Man’s assist to Unibeam since H.Missiles can cover you against teleporting characters and unibeam helps control the horizontal space.

However your team doesn’t have a good anchor to make comebacks since both Doom and Ironman have hard time getting hits in. Wright anchor if you don’t die from the opponents mixup when he’s coming in can’t make a comeback at all unless you managed to hit the opponent and his or her assist with Maya hyper or Judge hyper and x-factor.

Thor as anchor isn’t really good since he might have a hard time getting hits and the same goes with Doom I mean you can try Thor anchor but it’s just difficult.

Thor’s might smash isn’t really a good get off me assist (I tried having Thor on my team as well one time) though it’s a good crossover counter since it’s invincible and you need to get Wright out safely.

If you want to stick with this team maybe have Thor on second or point, or replace Thor with someone else. Have you thought of trying Ammy? I’m using her and she does have the tools to make a comeback and the Cold Star assist is pretty damn good for Wright imo.

Well, I’m trying to experiment with more characters with Wright besides my main team (PW b/Frank a/Zero a) just for fun  and I thought of those two. I might use your advice on Thor on second because if I get all the evidence with Wright and have 2 bars, I just can switch to Thor and if I manage to get a Mighty Punish (Grab Super) I can DHC into Maya (even though doesn’t hit at all) and get a Free “Objection!” into Turnabout because Mighty Punish throws the opponent waaaaaaaay high in the air, high enough to add more height while DHC’ing and land that free “Objection!”.

By the way, the only reason I use Mighty Smash with Thor is because if I’m inside Maya’s Shield, I can just call Thor and get a piece of evidence, if Mighty Smash hits I do an air combo and after ending that air combo I get more evidence. Same goes with Doom, I only use them while Maya is onscreen.

I’m trying to learn Thor’s Kara Throws right know but they’re kinda tricky and tend to miss a lot (this means I hit the opponent before cancel the motion into a Command Grab).

Now, concerning Ammy, well, I just don’t know how to use Ammy at all, lol. And I know she can pull off excellent comebacks but I just don’t know what to do with her haha.

Considering changing my team to Phoenix Wright (Paperwork)/Frank West(Shopping Cart)/Hulk (???)

Any tips?

You don’t have a good anchor on that team. Hulk is undoubtedly one of the worst anchors in the game since he gets no speed boost.

Plus, since you’ll most likely be using AA Gamma Charge as an assist, you essentially have two get-off-me assists. You need another assist for lockdown/keepaway.

Which Phoenix Wright assist would you guys suggest for a team of Vergil (Rapid Slash)/Wesker (Samurai Edge)? I really can’t figure out what to use here.

I asked one of my friend who is a competitive player with Ammy you can search him up on youtube with ncko xray, he also told me this.

Spoiler

Beads are mostly defensive, so used it to zone characters wolvie or frank west. It is also really good against sentinel since it does multiple hits, negating sentinel super armor if timed right, ex: airdash cross-up C.

Sword is both defensive and offensive, where ammy does the most damage, and where Ammy has a lot of options in the air. Get used to air cross-up C combos, and moving around in the air with the sword, for example stab into shield weapon change.

shield is very offensive, and you can cross up with air C just like the other two stances. you can also jump cancel a standing or crouching C, creating different mixups. To be on the defense in this mode, use the power slash to cover your moves.

in every mode, you can instant overhead with super-jump airdash A>A, into crouching A then a combo

Ammy as an anchor with X-Factor is where she shines the most. Learn the sword loop that I do, and learn how to confirm off of air throws. Watch my videos from NCKO - i do a lot of variety in pressure tactics and mixups from throws, to overheads, to cross-ups, and incoming character mixups.

the mist (slow) is very important because its what helps Ammy get in. in a situation where you have to make a comeback with ammy, use slow to mess up your opponents timing and to allow yourself to get in.

Here’s on his match:

I’d probably go with Paperworks or Press the Witness since you have Wesker’s Samurai Edge. Paper can help with pressure since it lingers around near the opponent even though he or she advance guards you. Press the Witness is a okay lockdown assist I just don’t like the distance in which he comes out since sometimes he might not be near the opponent, with Missile in a way it can kinda cover for Vergil’s teleports but then again you already have Wesker for the low mixup. Though most of the time you might be using Wesker’s more often than

Just my opinion if it helps.

Wow, that match was pretty sick! And thanks for the tips. I found some interesting tech with a team I thought of using your suggestion (no Doom/Thor ofc):

Wright (b)/Ammy (b)/Frank West (a)

Why this order? Because if I manage to get Nick to Turnabout, he’ll be immediately my Anchor. If Nick gets killed then after Ammy goes in I’ll try to get in with her and DHC into Frank (to have Ammy on Anchor).
Personally, I don’t have a “specific” Anchor character, I always try to play with my whole team so pretty much everyone are my Anchors :).

I found something I like to call “Evidence GET!” (which means you can get ALL the evidence in one “combo”, depending of your luck of course) with Wright/Ammy, both of them can be midscreen or corner only:

s. :l:, :m:, ( :h: & :a1:/Ammy)°, :f::h: xx :atk: Investigate***** xx ! xx Slip-Up ( :f:+:m: ) xx (Quick) :atk: Investigate x2

OR

c :l:, ( :a1:/Ammy) + c.:m:, s.:h: xx :atk: Investigate ***** xx ! xx Slip-Up ( :f:+:m: ) xx (Quick) :atk: Investigate x2

**°: **You have to time this if you’re facing Midget-sized characters like Rocket Raccoon if you’re going to do this in the corner.
***: **(preferably :m: or :h: Investigate in case you fail the end of the notation; which is after the Slip-Up)
**!: **This combo can be done on midscreen, if you’re doing this midscreen this “!” is replaced for a Dash Forward.

These combos can also be done using Maya’s Shield, actually, Maya gets out of the screen after the Slip-Up xx 2nd Investigate

Thanks for the tips and I hope my notations can help someone using Wright/Ammy on the same team as well!

Spencer/Wright/Doom
Double Missile and the angled Grapple…Toughts?

Look up kuuronn/gx on youtube he uses the same team you’re using. In general Spencer can deal huge damage with the two missile assist since they can extend his combos which can lead to death combos for some characters making it easier to DHC into Wright to collect evidence. Grapple and missiles can help to cover some of Wright’s blindspots.

I want to use Haggar instead of nemmy on my team always wanted to use haggar but don’t know which one to use?

Either one could work but IMO Haggar is better. I used to play Nem with PW but once I switched to Haggar I started doing a TON better. He’s not hard to learn either at least imo.

Alright will switch to Haggar/Wright/Doom. Also what assist should I use for doom now hidden missle or plasma beam?
