I was trying out PW/Frank for fun.

BTW assist heavily helps Frank gain levels since it does so much hits. Just do c.:l:,c.:m:,s.:h:+Break the witness (Wall bounce), :d:+:d:+:s: (Not sure if possible), s.:s:, j.:m:, j.:h:, j.:s:, camera.


Here’s my analysis of the PW/Frank/Phoenix team (Note that some of this has not been tested yet such as the loop combo into the survival techniques hyper trick)

For the assists, use…

Break the witness for PW
Shopping cart for Frank
Anything for Phoenix (Except TK trap)

The first person you need to upgrade is Wright. Find evidence, use the shopping cart assist then land the objection somehow. Once you land the objection, start using the objection loop combo then end it with the judge hyper. The judge hyper does hard knockdown so you can use survival techniques then use the camera to OTG (Has not been tested).

Once Frank is leveled up to 5 with the help of the BTW assist, switch back to Wright then start gaining meter easily by using loops and by zoning. You need to keep PW on point. Once he runs out of time, he needs the help of Frank’s assist to safely gather evidence then somehow then again, land an objection.

If Wright gets defeated, the opponent still has to worry about level 4/5 Frank. Then after killing Frank, he has to worry about Phoenix.


That wraps up my analysis on the PW/Frank/Phoenix team. Maybe I’ll try using this team but I feel at home with my current team anyway.

Well I thought I’d try She Hulk for a bit, (I played her in Vanilla but just couldn’t like using her at all in ultimate and most people think she’s shit now). I don’t think that works too well especially if Hsien Ko dies early, but the otg assist is always handy. I’ll try out MODOK and see how it goes.

So essentially this team is going to work if your opponent is a training mode dummy. Sounds good.

In unrelated news, I just won a marvel tournament yesterday. I said at the start of the day, if I get into grand final from the winners side I’m picking Phoenix Wright to start with. Played my day 2 Spencer/PW/Doom team (yeah GX makes it look like so much fun) and ended up winning the first game with PWs level 3 while yelling “IT’S YOU!” … “TAKE THAT!”

Lost the next game and had to switch, then ended up winning 3-1.

Nope. It works on anyone as far as what I’ve observed so far.

I’ve seen one guy who was able to pull it off a lot. The team is pretty hard to handle though.

Wright is protected by Chris’ gun fire M that acts like a beam and RR’s anti air log trap. The two assists also help Wright in his trial zoning game. One clean hit from the log trap assist (Here comes the captain obvious part) leads to a free objection or for more damage input, an objection combo.

RR benefits from Wright’s AA assist, Paperwork storm, since his blind spot is above him. RR does some nasty cross ups using Chris’ gun fire M. I’ve already made a ton of creative set ups combining them with the use of these assists. Landing those net traps and boulder traps feel so satisfying.

Chris’ blindspot is protected by Paperwork storm and Log trap. That’s basically it. He can do some insane damaging combos, build tons of meter and keep off opponents very well.

Teleporters aren’t really much of a problem. RR’s log trap covers a wide arc and Wright’s paperwork storm has so much active frames, it can act as a psuedo barrier. Also, if you’re playing as Wright, just stay in the shield and protect yourself by using assists.

Character with command grabs are still quite difficult as always. Whenever when I’m up against characters with annoying command grabs cough Skrull cough, I start with this team arrangement instead : Chris/RR/Wright. Throw fire grenades, swap to RR, dash backward, oil bomb + ignite then swap back to Wright and gather evidence.

I’m feeling at home with this team. I get more wins and it’s easier for me to gather evidence.

I’m been planning on picking up PW with this team Ammy (Cold Star)/PW (???)/Frank West (Shopping Cart). Any suggestions?

Also a little side-question while I’m at it; What would you say is PW’s best combos are, I mean for all practical purposes?

Frank West has a hard time when in anchor position, and since you have Ammy for a lockdown assist I think it’s best to replace Frank West with a character that can cover Amaterasu’s approaches such as a projectile assist (Doom’s Plasma Beam or Hidden Missile, Magneto’s disruptor) or you can place Ammy as an anchor if you like instead. If you have a list of other characters in mind please do list and I’ll try and see which one would be good for this team.

Since Ammy’s on point you can give Wright missile or paper, I like paper though since if you’re pressuring the opponent the paper’s assist helps to keep the opponent there longer and tells the opponent not to press buttons since if they do the paper will hit the opponent and you usually can convert that into a combo.

It’s pretty hard to apply combos with Wright since his range is small unless in turnabout but here are some:

Actually, for a corner Turnabout Mode combo I think this one is better:

Does about 1,083,000 damage. You can probably add something extra after the dash backwards, but I haven’t tested that yet. Oh, and if you start this combo from a j.:h:, the timing for the first Break the Witness is a little tight. You need to do it immediately after you land or else the wall-bounce hit will whiff since the opponent flips out.

I can’t seem to get that objection loop down I think I might be doing it too slow or the distance isn’t correct. How do you do it?

I guess for my team I’m using Deadpool(Quick Work)/Wright(Paper)/Doom(Plasma Beam) pretty much Deadpool gets rid of the first character, tag in Wright Deadpool’s assist helps Wright with unblockables or creating new combos (providing if Deadpool lives), and Doom just pushes people back with the beam. I honestly have an easier time with Wright on second than trying to make a team with Wright on point.

You need to delay the first j.:m: in the air combo. When you hit with the j.:h:, PW should be a bit below the opponent.

hmmm I’m thinking about selling my soul and using doom…maybe She-Hulk/PW/Doom which assist should i use for Doom missles or plasma?

That would be a difficult team to work with since She-Hulk has problems of her own but if you want to stick with it, I would say go with Plasma Beam to cover her approach, plasma beam helps Wright by pushing the opponent back and gets teleporters. However missiles can help keep the opponent in place cause getting hit by a missile would mean a free combo though Doom exposes himself to danger longer. Since I don’t have much experience with She-Hulk experiment between the beam and missile and see which one you like best.

I know you only asked for Doom assist but for She-Hulk go with either torpedo or somersault. Torpedo helps Wright by comboing into objection from his overhead and collects evidence with the assist. Example of one is :l:–>:m:—>:h:—>:s:—>j.:m:—>j.:h:—>j:d::h:—>j.:s:—>call assist—> (collect evidence then dash)—>:s:—>j.:m:—>j.:h:—>j.:s:—>(Collect evidence). Wright should use the missile assist to help She-Hulk get hits on the opponent, paperworks can possibly help She-Hulk keep up the pressure up to you.

Thanks Op I shall experiment and i was thinking of clothesline with She-Hulk because i can combo into it and leave them in a crumple state but if torpedo would be better i shall look into it for sure thanks

ok…well i tried she-hulk and its ok but not what i was expecting…i’m thinking of sticking with my original idea of Spencer PW Wesker…i’m having such a hard time finding the correct balance for PW but i shall keep on tryin until i find one that works for me

Thinking about Pheonix Wright(???)/Frank West(Shopping Cart)/Akuma(Hurricane Kick).
Find evidence, get into trial, maybe go into turnabout, bring in FW, level him up, do as much damage as possible, bring in PW when Frank goes down, same, clean up with Akuma.

Does it work?

IMO pick either Frank or Akuma. Both assists act similar, so I would just pick another character that can help off/do well off the assist.

Would it work if I just changed one of their assists? Also, what is the best idea for PW’s assist?

In my opinion, it wont work because Frank’s tool of survival assist doesn’t offer much besides putting the opponent into a blocking state, with pick me up Frank is really vulnerable and also you don’t want to give up Akuma’s tatsu since it’s a great get of me assist that nullifies projectiles.

The problem this team team would face are against zoners since the only one on the team that can deal with zoning and it’s Akuma, Frank West, and Wright would have a hard time dealing with zoners especially if you don’t the photo evidence or facing against a character with a projectile that you can’t c:l: or c:h: under. (Like Magneto)

If you’re asking what assist he should use generally missile would be the best since it creates mixups and sometimes the dog is difficult to spot, but if you character can rushdown well paperworks can work since it they advance guard your rushdown character they still have the papers to worry about.

If you’re asking what assist best compliment Wright you would want something that keeps the opponent away (You already have Akuma’s tatsu which is good), something that stays in the screen for a long time (Doom’s missile, Sentinel drone’s, Skrull’s tenderizer), and beam assists which does help in pushing the opponent back a bit and not to mention covering the horizontal space.

But if you really want to stick with your team try switching the order: Frank(shopping cart)/Wright(missile or paper)/Akuma (tatsu)

Would a team of Dormammu (Liberation), Phoenix Wright (Break the Witness), and Vergil (Rapid Slash) work? The idea for the team is that Dorm would play the keep away role, Nick gets the assist cover from Vergil’s rapid slash and the anti air is covered by Dorm. The main problem i’m having is the DHC doesn’t work too well. Should I switch out Dorm or Vergil? Trying my best to make this team work, not sure if I should switch the order and assist or if it’s good as is.

Wow. I found a ton of combos with my team of PW (a)/ Chris (b)/ RR (y). All of the combos require 2 meters but… Meh. I don’t care about how much meter I burn. I usually gain meter quickly with the turnabout combos of Wright once he lands the objection, Zoning with Chris and RR.
