Oh, you’re just talking about ISMs. I thought you were against like a 50+ character roster.
Just make SFV a direct sequel to SFIII that somehow ties the Illuminati arc with the Shadaloo arc.
im saying no “Street Fighter Ultimate reunion” in SFV. Let the Alpha series handle that.
SFV should be at least a 45% brand new character roster. Some old favorites may not make the cut, but it is what it is. Play Alpha 4 for nostalgia.
I’m kinda’ afraid what kind of gimmick Capcom would tack on to an SF5. What kind of new system could you throw in that hasn’t been done before and doesn’t involve comeback mechanics or casual gimmicks.
60 old characters and 20 new ones. Let’s rock.
Are all of these “ideas” just gimmicks? I don’t understand, why not just completely innovate and the community support the progress of it. You guys confuse me
I wanna vomit a little every time someone says anything like “SEVERAL YEARS AFTER SF3” and “BRAND NU ROSTER OH BUT KEEP RYU”.
There’s like, 40+ SF characters and a bunch whom are still waiting to make another appearance. They could expand or revamp movesets instead of just making a brand new roster that’ll likely just end up having move sets that are references to characters we already have.
Capcom may also choose that SF V would not affect the main storyline, which is also the concept of a dream match game. Just put together characters for the sake of putting them together. Alternatively they can do the MK9 route by having someone reset or screw with the timeline, which is possible through Ingrid.
It seems to be that the game’s story proper is dictating which characters should appear in the game or not. Also, reuniting every Street Fighter character in a single game would be a fitting milestone celebration. Maybe they could do it on the franchise’s 30th year anniversary.
Why not have Ingrid be the end boss?
Idc about most things, but things I would like to keep.
2 button throws and throw teching, and make the new mid column button function be like a the overhead in 3rd strike but more like KOF.
Street fighter 5 I.S.B.I.3
(it’s ST but in 3D)
Any thoughts on what SF V’s new universal system mechanic will be?
SF3 had parries. It was exclusively a defensive move. Easy to understand, harder to use effectively, and had a huge impact on gameplay
SFIV introduced Focus Attacks (and the concept of “grey health”). It can be used defensively and offensively. When combined with the ability to cancel it, it’s becomes one of the most complex features in an FG. It’s much harder to understand, but also much easier to use effectively compared to parries, but it doesn’t affect gameplay to the same extent that parries do.
Where to from here?
Personally, while I find focus attacks and cancels interesting, IMO parries seem to fit more into the “easy to learn, hard to master” philosophy. Focus Attacks seem to be hard to learn, easy to master (well, relatively. you never hear of SFIV players who have “godlike FA skills”) . That’s not to say I want parries in the next version, but I’d prefer something designed with the philosophy in mind.
Many of us (including me) have been playing Street Fighter for 20+ years. It’s been a great ride so far, but I’m ready for something new in SFV. I want Capcom to take a risk with this one.
And I really don’t mind some new characters being hybrids of old ones as long as the fighter is charismatic & compliments the overall gameplay. SFV definitely needs a strong returning cast, but they gotta switch 'em up a little bit either cosmetically or give them a significantly updated moveset (Example: Guile with more than two special moves).
I think FADCs are stupid the way they are.
You should only be able to FADC on hit. You shouldn’t be able to FADC if I correctly guess that you’re going to do an SRK and block it.
What I would like to see from SF5:
[LIST]
[]The majority of the SF4 cast and new characters (recommendations for removal of Hakan, Yang, Evil Ryu, Dan, Abel) Fan vote for new characters?
[]Give us better graphics. (That we will drool over.)
[]Keep the mechanics/gameplay of SF4. Don’t go the complex route of SF3 Third Strike with parries.
[]Give us enhanced replay mode so that we may study our matches; also allow ability for recording of offline matches.
[]I would like to see statistics similar to the COD Elite system where we can track everything and apply it to our gameplay. The breakdown of the stats has to be simple too and it would be nice to be able to check stats online and on our smartphones.
[]This is a must: GGPO quality netcode. Absolutely no concessions should be made that will increase the lag (like the SFxT fiasco.) Capcom has already stated the current hardware (360, PS3) does not allow them to have the ability for GGPO play as the 3D models make rollback expensive, but the next Xbox and Playstation should be more than capable.
[]**No DLC shenanigans. **We saw what happened with SFxT.
[]Annual balance patches to keep the game fresh.
[]Story mode. MK9 had a decent story mode, SF can do it too or at least try.
[]Challenge Tower similar to MK9 (But it has to be done right, MK9 is the Gold Standard)

They took a risk with SF3. They have no need to do it again. Especially when the series isn’t exactly doing badly. There’s no reason to go out and create a bunch of brand new characters that may not be received well especially if they replace the old roster, when they have a ton of characters already, several of which they could just redo movesets for (like the Dolls). Then you have a ton of other non playable characters in both the SF and Final Fight series. Instead of making some brand new roster, why not just have Gief AND Haggar, along with the rest of the grapplers, and a few new ones? People get to have fan favorites, AND new characters. Everyone wins when done like this.
Only thing I really want SF5 to have is every character speak in their native tongue; Zangief speaks in Russian, Rose speaks in Italian, etc.
I have a better idea, throw Viper into an industrial mulcher.
No thanks. At the very least, I’ve had enough of Ultras in SFIV. SFV should only have regular supers powered by the standard super meter (that doesn’t build solely from taking damage).
