Imagine if Cammy and Chun actually looked like this in game.
Image broke.
Fixed.
It’s an Imgur link now.
Godlike image!
For Street Fighter 5 SRK should lower registration to 50 members a month. New users would not be able to post for a month so they can get acquainted with the practices of this site. This would let us incorporate people people into the forum who will have a vested interest in not shitting up the place since they worked hard to get in.
I think an FAQ on forum etiquette would be better. Also a FAQ on what kind of threads have been done to death and aren’t appreciated.
What new nationalities would people like to see in SFV?
I think Ono promised Street Fighter fans at an UDON convention that V will probably have a Canadian character. I’m guessing an Aussie one will come along soon too!
I actually have one written. Not an FAQ but a rough draft on how to post inside SRK. It has too much of Pertho Power for the weak of heart and soft of wrist so I need to rewrite so that it is kindlier, gentler and explains things a bit better.
Parries would probably make SRK crash like once a week from the ensuing for and against posts. I’d like to see less ridiculous shotos covered in flames, and more interesting and unique chars like Mika, Karin and Alex return, supers that build quick and actually work, and an artwork theme that actually looks Japanese designed again. Oh, and make it faster, and scrap the online PP/BP bs.
Nationalities? A Thai woman and an Irish man, both potentially brutal if you upset them in my experience…
I want to see a Taliban fighter.
I’m currently on a tangent with this one – How about having Chun Li in an alternate Interpol/Cop outfit!?
Freaking Capcom; giving Chun a freaking maid outfit in SF X TK? really!? WTF
Side note though – PP/BP is totally BS. So I agree with PointBreak91
Matching making should be based on winning percentage
any point-based system should be RPG style; you always gain experience and its based on your performance - rounds wins, perfects, tech, etc., etc.,
it’s easy just score it Arcade style DUH!
plus when it is all said and done; if you have 15,000 exp and win 25% of your fights you are clearly not as skilled as a 15,000 exp player that wins 75% of his/her fights.
It really makes perfect sense.
Parries can go to hell. Capcom is smart enough to never introduce such a stupid universal option ever again. Focus Attack is leagues better and that is what Parry should’ve been. 3 games of SFer where as Viscant used to say about SFIII “Everyone fighting withing a phone booth” is more then enough for me already.
Personally, I feel the supers/ultras need to do less damage so that they aren’t as significant of a tide changing option (The trump card damage on it landing and doing so much damage really takes away from the strategy of life-lead and giving losing players an option to come back which has always been stupid) and the other facet that the game become more strict, at least up to the SFIII level where at that time, it was ridiculously easy-mode in terms of execution, SFIV just made it so that a toddler could execute a Shoryuken at will.
Anyhow, next time if ever, I’ll try and post a more thorough statement of other things I would like to see however as of now, this will do.
But us 3s players always sat back and lolled at the excited overgrown kids playing Xmen games with their constant flying, infinites and push-block. Focus attack isn’t even a defence mech. Viscant’s a guy who throws his money away on gambling websites and plastic vagina simulators, so let’s not take his counsel too seriously.
Interpol costume is never going to happen, and that RPG system would never work as it has predefined rankings that can easily be manipulated especially online.
If parries come back, I want a whiff animation. Also, two button throws must stay. And Juri.
about the costume – yeah it’d have to be an american developer to do something that cool.
as for the ranking again - american developer or at least european because it works pretty good with Starcraft, Call of Duty and Assassins Creed.
Japanese are so behind the times on this stuff
all in all from Capcom – you are right on both accounts, haha!
but as far as manipulating rankings; we’ve all seen boosters, you’ll never negate this fact. They are scrubs and are easily exposed.
I think a Filipino character should be added… Not another boxer though (Pacquaio), a Filipino Martial Arts / Knife fighting character would be interesting.
Alright, a lot of people seem to be going about this the wrong way, so here’s the definitive list of things SFV needs to shine:
-
Bigger input window - For everything. I am so tired of my shoryukens not coming out even though I input them repeatedly. Also shoryukens should be easier. Maybe a shoryuken button instead of medium punch? I think Persona 4 did something like that; will investigate.
-
Parries - The whole community seems to agree that parries are the best thing to ever happen to any fighting game of all time. With the new bigger input window parries will be more commonplace than ever before! OS a parry inside your shoryuken to really make your opponent respect your tremendous strategic abilities. Daigo approved.
-
More evil versions of characters - I find it unfair that people get to play as evil ryu and evil akuma. Where’s evil ken? Evil sakura? Evil gouken? Maybe add some flames and a teleport to them and give them an extra move. Ken could have an air shoryuken. That’d be sweet.
-
More stylish super moves/more bars - It’s shameful that in 25 years of street fighter we still only have 3 bars to show for it. In SFV, there should be a fourth bar, called the “Ultimate Ultra Factor X”, represented by a shimmering graphic of a flaming fist punching a nun. When executed, a long cinematic will play followed by a dramatic, screen-filling projectile while a hip-hop remix of your character’s theme plays. For example, Ken’s would show him growing up in the inner city and being picked on at school and becoming addicted to drugs. As he progresses through his life, he finally kicks the habit and earns enough money busking to move into a place of his own. He buys a dog. Then, suddenly, his opponent smashes through the door and throws the dog out the window. After beating Ken senseless, he sets the house on fire and leaves him for dead. A single tear runs down Ken’s face in the present and he shoryukens his opponent into the stratosphere on the back of a nuclear explosion. This will deal 700 damage.
-
Craftier DLC - It’s been clearly proven that the community won’t put up with such shady practices as on-disc DLC characters. So instead, all of the characters will be free! Instead of buying characters or gems, the players will buy moves for the characters. Instead of every lamer noob online throwing a million fireballs and shoryukens at you at every opportunity, they will have to think: “Is this fight really worth one of my precious $0.50 flaming uppercuts?” Only the truly skillful will prevail.
People will be playing this game well into the next century.
