I basically just made this thread cause i wanted to get some input from some other ppl about iceman in mvc2.
Do ne of u use him seriously? if so,r u ne good with him?
i’ve played against some of the best at ts5, even though that i didn’t get to make it to the next round in the tounament i think that my team did farely well. Iceman held his own and i only remember him getting raped a couple of times by sent, mags maybe bout 2 or 3 times. During causual. In tourney my record was 4-4.
Well my team is frostbite: iceman, storm, sent
other team (no name); iceman, sent, commando.
The reason why i’m posting this is cause i’m playing iceman seriously, have been for about a yr and a half. Can these teams stand a chance against the best, i’ve played some of the best and didn’t get raped, Iceman is my best player, i can do unfly, ff, unblockable, resets and all that other good stuff. Knowing that i know the necessary combos and stuff to win, does ne1 see this team competing in the final eight in a mvc2 tourney? That is my mission.
I’m in no way a scrub, iceman isn’t cheap, frostbite lack an anti air, but i don’t really need an anti air with iceman, i can zone my enemies with icebeam. I know its cheap but i only throw icebeams to get some breathing room so i can set up my attacks. Ne1 thats played me knows that my team isn’t no pushover. I know when to attack and when not to. I do consider myself the best iceman player.
Iceman a hero or zero? u tell me. Very underrated point char imo.
He’s okay. But he dies to the top 4 god tier. Magneto/storm and rush him down pretty bad. Once Cable has meter, Iceman cannot do anything to him. And Sentinel can chip and stomp iceman to death.
He have a chance against Cyclops and Ironman IMO.
your team of iceman/storm/sent doesn’t have an AAA and against a mags you’re gonna have some serious trouble getting him off of you. Iceman/sent/commando is a better team IMO.
Well ur assumptions r right on frostbite with no anti air. But u haven’t seen my frostbite team fight agains magneto, cable, storm, or sent. My iceman has beaten them all down, from some very good competition, sent is the only one that gives me problems if he has unfly. Magneto and storm can rushdown but its about zoning and when to attack, wish i had some vids, but preppy has some i think. Unfortunately magneto is the easiest of the four for me to beat. And that with team frosbite. And i don’t just throw icebeams all day, guess u gotta see to believe huh. but its true.
i have setup challenges, but the main thing i have a problem with is sentinel, cable, storm and magneto arn’t that hard. Only sent, thats why i have iceman, sent, commando. I’m not pro by any means, but i did give a good fight to the pros and ne1 that was at ts5. I’m just saying that i was the only serious iceman player there and won, got a lot of props too.
I hope to attend evo, hopefully i can get a ride there with some friends.

u going to evo? hope to see u there if i can get a ride. You shoulda seen some of the look on ppl faces when iceman owned, i got some ocv’s with iceman too. They were like what is iceman gonna do… Ocv u that what. Marvel best game hands down.
Iceman can wavedash, u just gotta do the input differently than the other characters. I didn’t place top 10 due to the fact that they had a different bracket setup for ts5, they had some kinda pool thing, there were like 8 ppl in a pool and u had to fight each one and top two records advance to the final whatever. I only needed like two more wins to advance, i shoul’ve advanced but in those two matches that i needed to win, when i did a launch and tried to sj, iceman did a avalanche, so i couldn’t capitalize like i should. It was close though. my record in the pool was 4-4, two more wins would’ve done it.
Chill: I guess you’re right. I’ll just have to see it to believe it. Howzabout you get top 10 in ECC and I’ll get the DVDs so I can see this awesome iceman.
i’ve seen it. he’ll fair well up until top-mid tier players…but that’s from my general observations.
i think people forgot how to play against iceman more than anything. :pleased:
i was at TS5; it’s in my state!
the pools were really set up like this:
around 8-ish man pools, with 2 KILLER TOP-TIER players each (almost guaranteeing they eat up the lil’ dawgs for lunch). The 3rd placer in each pool usually crushed the opposition, but not say…Sanford, Ricky, Justin…etc. in each pool.
So it was “pretty much” a GUARANTEED 2 losses off the bat!!!
And I saw the Iceman player during tournaments and some casuals; it’s Storm/Sent doing the work, as predicted. Iceman’s just there being an annoyance. great playing, though. that’s the meat of the game, just solid. :xeye:
chill_effect, you’ll do o.k. at EVO, winning some, prolly ending up around where your record was at TS5 - more or less, but don’t expect to be in the top 32…
Set the damage rating on the game at its lowest setting.
Watch chip damage do as much damage as being hit, and watch magneto doing a 5 minute combo and deal something like 25% damage to a single character, or watch sentinel do a long ass multiple super combo that does 20% damage to a single character. That’s the type of environment iceman can exel in. Fucking riduculous to see chip damage from an ice beam do as much damage as sentinel’s rocket punch->super combo.
(I’m exagerrating, of course, but its kinda frustrating playing in a box with the damage setting that low)
If u would’ve kept on watching u would’ve found out that I only lost those other two mathches cause the damn avalanche came out by mistake, then i got punished. Other than that my record would have been 6-2, and my iceman did most of the work. Did u see iceman take out magneto real quick? Iceman took down sent one on one too.
sup chill_effect meet u at ts5, homeboy smoked wit u i didnt cause i was already pretty fucked up and didnt wanna mess up my games in the tournie but about iceman…
i use him just not on my serious teams, hes fun to play wit but he has bad match ups, i noticed that u said sent is the only that gives u a hard time, thats really hard to believe cause i would see a good cable giving u trouble as well just because he doesnt have much to do against a cable wit a good AAA, especially since ur team doesnt have one…also not to underestimate ur iceman or anything i would see mags/storm rushing the shit out of that team, i see u takin out a mag or storm but thats prolly because they havent played an iceman in ages or because they underestimate him…but yea goodluck wit that team wouldnt mind seeing someone out of top 4 placing high in a tournie
I use iceman seriously and I remember me having 7 or 8 win streak different times in casual. Cable does give iceman trouble sometimes, but my storm can take out cable. Mags and storm rushing down iceman is true, but not with my iceman. If i let them get near me. I’ll protect with drones and cross up, keep away with icebeams and drones for a bit to frustrate u then i’ll launch them when then get crossed up or rush me. You gotta see it, but its true, some guy said i hate ur iceman, and thats that he had santhrax or matrix team. Well in ne case iceman did the damage with artic attack then dhc to hailstorm. They really didn’t know what to expect cause i knew how to setup my attacks. Hope to play u again. peace.
