IC: Tek-Case Mini

looks awesome. i know art will do custom cuts but ive always wanted a viewlix 6 button 24mm stick and this looks perfect for it. yay for small hands!

larger than his existing model? i haven’t seen anybody make one.

Any update on this? I’m fiending for this so much!

Its just a dream.

I’m digging the smaller wedge shape, and the 6 buttons. I’m totally interested, provided it’s cheaper than the regular case, and has a hitbox option.

in for one

Any updates on this, butteroj? I’d be down to buy one right now. I’m in need of a hitbox clone for travel, and I really don’t want to buy a full-sized case if I can avoid it.

Minicases are awesome, the only problem with hori’s fight stick mini is knock-off parts, and the joystick is awkward, and I just so happen to have an excellent local supplier for parts, and a PCB lying around.

I’m really interested in this tek-case-mini to say the least…

So, Art sent me his test case toshow you guys. Here are some Sunday morning pics. More to follow after I build. I must say, this is so well built. The design is leaps and bounds above the original Tek-Case. The joystick screws are now countersunk into the lower top plate, so you no longer have the holes rubbing against you hand. The top plate removes with 4 screws, and does not disrupt the supports like the og case. The slant is super comfortable for table play. The design of the side braces is not only sturdy, but could totally add to the customization of the case when different colors are used. I cannot say enough good things about the design. Onto the pics.

Any idea of when these might be available? They look awesome BTW

I got impatient and bought the TEK-Case Series 1 a few days ago. If the Mini is coming out soon then I will hate myself forever.

Well if Art redesigns the top/support panel for countersunk screws then I think it will be ok with the Series 1 case.

eta???

I’m still down to buy a hitbox version.

I can’t believe this isn’t dead.

Also six button mini = perfect for xbone pad hacks? COINCIDENCE?

I really want a mini, and would buy one day 1.

can we expect a release anytime this year?

Those pics are beautiful, I will purchase one of these as soon as they become available.

Hey everyone! Happy Holidays! Been a while since I’ve been on here, and I’m glad to see you guys have shown such interest in the Mini Tek-Case, aka “Tek-Mini”.

And thanks Butteroj for your ideas and your help on this. ButteroJ has given nothing but positive feedback to me, so I believe it is time to move forward. Now, due to being incredibly busy I won’t have a chance to add the Tek-Mini to my site yet, as there is a quite a bit of work involved to get the Tek Panel Builder up for the Mini version. However, because of the interest on this thread, I would like to open up a limited amount of Tek-Mini orders in a manual format, to you guys first.

Here is a list of the pieces, and their naming format.

http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/images/mini/mini_preview.jpg

So for those who are interested here’s the best way for now. Only the slanted version is available right now, as I haven’t had a chance to work on the flat version.

  1. Download this Tek-Mini order form: http://tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/downloads/tek-mini%20presales%20form.xlsx
  2. It’s an excel spreadsheet with some key sections to fill out.
  3. Fill out your Name and Email.
  4. Go through the list of parts, options, and Color choices. Images are to the left to identify each part. Make sure to read the descriptions.
  5. In the “Options” column, the Top panel and Front panel piece will have a drop down menu where you can select a preset of configurations. Just click on the column and there should be a drop down arrow on the right.
  6. In the “Color” column, there will be a drop down menu to select the available colors for each piece. Just click on the column and there should be a drop down arrow on the right.
  7. If you are interested in Artwork and Plexi cover to go with the case, Enter that request in the “Additional Notes” section of the form.
  8. Once the form is completed, save it, double check it, and email me and add that as an attachment. Subject line should be “Tek-Mini Order”.
  9. I will review the form and provide you a final quote (or ask more questions first).
  10. Once you approve the final quote, a Paypal invoice will be sent to you, and your order will be completed relative to your form options.
  11. The starting price on this case is $52 for an all clear case, with all the necessary screws and rubber feet. Additional costs will depend on the color selections
  12. Orders will be fulfilled within the normal time frame of 10-14 days. I am rushing full speed to fulfill holiday orders, so It’s very possible it can be done before that. But, that’s still the standard in which we’ll be operating.
  13. Due to time constraints, I can only accept a limited amount of Tek-Mini orders, and there will not be any additional customization outside of what is currently available on the form. Artwork and Plexi covers are still an option. But requesting a completely different button layout, other than the options on the form, at this time will not be available.
  14. If there are any issues with the form, please email me with an appropriate Subject title about the Tek-Mini.
  15. If there are other items you want to add, please include it in the Email. (ie: JLF Plexi mount, TE or Hori products, etc).
  16. For those wanting 24mm as their main buttons, add that detail to the “Additional Notes”

Thanks very much everyone!

I’ll try to get through some questions while I’m here.

Absolutely! Version 2 Tek-Case is in the works, but essentially the countersunk JLF mounting will be adapted to all products that use to have the threaded holes. It’s not immediate, but that is in the works. If I changed it suddenly, without notice/instruction, people will get confused on what they received and what they thought they ordered (even though it is an improvement).

It wouldn’t be a Tek thing if there weren’t options

I’m trying to keep it low cost, and under the S1s, at least right now. Even though it’s smaller, this new design actually takes more labor/time to produce. Overall, the relative labor/time involved to make Tek-Cases are incredibly cheaper than what you’ll find in anything customized within the custom Acrylic world. Had I went by retail market standards, something like customizing Tek-Cases should be starting at least $99+. But as my goal was to make affordable DIY custom cases, I decided to eat the bulk of my labor costs.

I will continue to do so, for as long as I can. It doesn’t help when material and shipping costs keep rising, but I’ll do what I can. So for now, I’m offering the Tek-Mini’s here at a starting cost of $52. This may change once everything is live on the site.

I’ve considered, and am still considering it. The challenge is the durability and stability at larger sizes. It requires more acrylic parts, therefore making it much more expensive. I’m still looking into it.

Hitbox option is available.

24mm? sure! Instructions atop.

Email me with your order number and details. Either we can cancel your Tek-Case order and apply it to a Tek-Mini order, or I can change the Tek-Case support panel with the Countersunk screw version. Let me know soon as you can so I’ll know which order to look for.

Is there a tempalte for the art?

very tempted to grab this

e/ also, what would shipping to sweden be?

Aww that sucks for me. My Tek-Case order shipped out on Sunday lol. I might have to order just the support panel but with the countersunk screw version. If shipping is a lot again then I may have to pass for now until the OG support gives out.
