@OceanMachine yeah I saw her stuff. Wasn’t personally impressed by it. Thought she was slightly buffed if anything but that’s just imo of course. Other than the buff to her ex grab invincibility I don’t find anything scary. She’s still - after dash post command throw. Overhead is still punishable. Other than the grab and mp bolt into throw animation at +18 its watever.
The 5f command grab and the 5f/+3 on hit 5MK are actually the biggest buffs, since she can now tick throw off almost everything and have better confirms. cr. LK and cr. LP buffs also give her a true low hit confirm.
In VT she’s only -2 after command grabs and EX grabs will actually beat 3 framers. Plus she’s +1 after all her grounded hit grabs.
From the perspective of a Laura main, she got buffed way more than we could’ve ever imagined. She will basically replace Mika as the top grappler in the game.
Does the mk and or mp~mk link into her 3 frame up close. That is a pretty scary tick scenario tho! I knew about the -2 changed in VT but somehow those frames with the ex grab whiffed my mind. That’s dope! If she does replace Mika tho well done! I know Mika still has those braindead brimstone loops tho.
Yes, st. MK into st. LP works pretty well and you can of course do CH st. MP > st. MK, CH st. LP > st. MK or CH st. MK > cr. MP. Also st. MK puts her into command grab range, as well as st. LP, cr. LK (+1 oB now and with extremely low hitstop), cr. LP, cr. MK and of course st. LK. She basically went from having one viable tick throw button to having all of them.
Btw about every V-Reversal that scored a knockdown got rekt. The only good thing about Ibuki’s is that now I think you’re pushed a little further away on block so it’s less unsafe.
V Reversals are just get off mes now and they should have been that way.
I like some of those kunai options for meterless damage off the one hit buttons. Will have to mess around with it with the new reload.
Oh and I loove the new reload and EX reload. You can tell that regular reload either starts or recovers quicker and it’s pretty viable to do s.MK, sweep target cancel into reload and charge 2 kunais before most characters can even think about hitting you. s.MK, sweep target into EX reload is going to be OD for refilling.
EX reload when charged gives you all 6 kunais in basically like one second. As opposed to almost 2 seconds for regular reload.
@Ocean I guess time will tell but ur case is pretty solid!
@Deviljin Yeah man don’t sleep on the releases especially now that kunai’s are easier to get. The way I see it is if your in a poke war and your gonna trade some blows with your opponent why not have your poke wipe off 327 off their health bar lol.
Yeah he just doesn’t get that not every character has gdlk poking normals. This is also a game where the poking normals in general don’t have great benefit on their own. They can only be one part at best of what makes you a good character and there have been really strong characters in SFIV (and V) with not great normals.
She has tools that directly stuff normals like V Skill and f+HK so she would basically be number one in her own tier by herself with great normals.
C.mp buff is great. If she cancels into a special she moves forward. So max range c.mp into raida works most of the time. A much better whiff punish tool now.
I used cr.MP a lot on my meaty setups because of framekilling,I’m rethinking some stuff, either I start counting frames or I might lose damage after raida knockdowns, that dash buff made a lot of my setups broken (and some other setups are actually really good now tho)
Here’s a nifty stupid and seim impractical setup
long range cr.MP or st.HP xx LP+MP Ex kunai, late v trigger cancel (like really late),dash instant jump MP, depending on the distance and the timing of the cancel you’ll land on either side and the bomb will explode as soon as they land
there are new possible bomb setups, i guess someone will find something good with it. after kunai you can walk forward 1 frame for st.mk-st.mp to connect.
then you can cancel into any dash.
