Ibuki Safe Okizeme Setup

Here is my Okizeme Setup, i tested quite ALOT with it.

Inputs are:
Neckbreaker, WAIT, Super Jump Forward, LP Air Kunai, LAND, s.LP into whatever you want (probably s.MP, s.HP (Target Combo) into any Kind of Speccial Move or SJC Ultra2)

Some Notes:

  • The Kunai hits you at the first possible Frame on Wakeup because the Kunai is in your Hitbox when you stand up.
  • This Setup can hit Crossup OR Normal, you can’t tell by visual references
  • Most Moves with invincible Frames will just Wiff and you are able to punish them with another Neckbreaker
  • Hakan’s Utra 2 is the only known Wakeup Move to beat it
  • Focus Dash will absorb the Kunai but you will get hit by the s.LP, if the dash has alot of Airboren Frames it will reset the opponent.
  • Between the air Kunai and the s.lp is NO Frame Window where you can Move or Mash, it’s a “real” Blockstring
  • Alot of other moves besides the one in the Video where tested, none of the tested (except Hakan Ultra 2) beats it.

Is this a troll thread?

So you are telling me that this move is safe on block (Second 42)? Oh man… your “100% safe setup” is foiled by that one super rare technique known as “blocking”.

this is good stuff

rush down: you don’t have to do the neckbreaker when you notice they’re blocking, you know

That’s pretty good but will be kinda useless because people will learn that fairly quick because if they don’t its rape time for Ibuki. Is that lp kunai you’re doing or mp?

No this is not a troll thread, are you trying to troll this thread?

As a matter of fact i didn’t want to show that the Target Combo into Neckbreaker is safe but the Setup (Kunai Crossup).
If your’e farmiliar with Street Fighter and its train mode you would see that i recorded the dummy to following combo.

Neckbreacker, Superjump, Air Kunai, s.lp , s.mp, s.hp, Neckbreaker
So of course the dummy will do unsafe moves on block but there is plenty of room for hit confirm and i would change the
ender of the target combo to a safe move if i would play myself.

@SnakeEyez, its LP Kunai

@SIDENOTE:
Depending on the Timing the Kunai can also hit normal (not crossup) but it will still be safe !
But there is no way to tell where it hits.

He specified it was an Oki setup, as in, a setup for when your opponent is knocked down (everything after the Neckbreaker). Even if he hadn’t specified, you should have known what he meant anyways.

Good shit, Thomson, though I saw Wong rocking this on a poor soul at PAX.

Of course, we didn’t know it was so safe back then. Great vid. This is jokes. I’m assuming you can get it off of a sweep or throw too…

Another SIDENOTE: If the opponnent does Focus --> Dash you will either hit him or reset him (reset if the dash has airborne frames)

@Krackatoa, Justin Wong didn’t do this exact setup. He used a different timing and no super jump, his setup is still pretty strong but gets beaten by alot of reversal moves (shoryuken, uppercut)

Ah. Well congrats on your patented setup, then.

What shall you call it? “The Super Chili Thomson Oki-Deluxe?”

I absolutely didn’t want to bad mouth Justin Wong or the Video wich was shown on Gametrailers, this is the main reason i was testing this all day long
to check if it was really safe and like the “vortex” of Akuma. At first i was quite disappointed since i almost got beaten by shoryuken moves wich of course everyone
will spam :x

good job dude !

Can you easily choose to hit crossup or not ? Or is the timing too strict and it’s just random ?

So it’s the superjump that makes this safe? That’s really interesting to know. Have you tested against other character’s and their reversals?

I remember seeing this about a month ago on the iplaywinner stream so it’s not exactly new and yeah did you test it out on other characters? I assume this won’t work too well against Gouekn, possibly Juri, etc. etc.

Also have you tried auto-corrected reversals? In that setup, if they block the kunai it’s clear they turn around before your c.lp connects, so I can see something that has a lot of invincibility and gets it on frame 1 (EX Messiah, EX DPs) could potentially wreck this.

Test it on Kens Fierce DP since it has more invincibility to it.
I had issues against Deejay’s EX Flash Kick. It often beat the Kunai and suck Ibuki in for damage. Granted, I have not mastered the timing and spacing on the SJ Kunai but it’s worth testing.

What about Hakan’s U2?Doesn’t it beat the setup?

Ibuki should land behind Hakan if she goes for a SJ kunai cross up. It should actually hit Hakan the more I think about it since it doesn’t seem to have invinci frames.

Is there any way to TK the input for the Kunai to hit like Akuma’s TK’d fireball trap?

@rexar, no too hart to tell if it hits crossup or not.
@Zurija, yes i did, its also in the video. The Kunai does enoug hitstun, there is not a single frame window between air Kunai and s.lp.
I Also tested it against Ken and Juri, still safe.

The other idea was to do a non reversal move with auto correct, i tried it and it didn’t work since the Kunai is IN your Hitbox on wakeup so it will hit on the first possible Frame.
The thing with this setup is that all of the moves with alot of invincible frames (ex messiah…) will wiff because you can’t do an auto correct move and Ibuki will fly over it.
And Yes i tested Hakans U2 and it will get you !

Does ibuki’s s.lp whiff on crouchers? Because if it does then you’d look pretty dumb if you hit them and whiffed a s.lp.

It even hits crouching Blanka but the s.mp can wiff.
But you could’t do any other Blockstring aber the Kunai (e.g. 3x cr.lp, cr.hk)

Justin did tutorials on all the new characters like 2 months ago and displayed “your setup”.
