Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

I need someone to tell me some things I did wrong there.
From 0:00 to 2:18

So you’re playing JC. He comes over my house to play every once in a while so if you’re going to vortex with Kunai you have to throw them better than that. Also, he likes to go for a lot of counter hit setups and likes to blow people up who are mashing on crouch tech. You ate like all of them. If you’re not positive on the throw, and it’s not going to kill you, just take the throw. Especially someone like Ibuki with her slow ass cr.lk, the last thing you want to do is mash on that recklessly.

I’ll prolly show up next time so you can see me rape him, but you honestly didn’t do bad at all. I actually don’t remember another Ibuki playing down here but then again, I haven’t been there in a while.

I haven’t been able to touch on this personal weakness of mine; but what is a good pressuring Ibuki vs a bad one? What options can she use? Or… Just in general.

Oh ok thanks for the advice. I play mostly MVC2 and now MVC3 but I am pretty confident on my Ibuki, but when I start seeing how he used the Kara-grab and the counter-hit set-ups I knew I had to change my game. I had to leave that’s why I only played him like twice, but I was getting the hang of it. I go there mostly every thursday or tuesdays, and I am pretty new over there.

EDIT: And yeah there are very few Ibuki players, I am the only one I’ve seen in FR.

One with good footsies and execution. In general having these things makes Ibuki a very strong character because of her high damage and pressure game. In general you have to learn how to use all of her normals according to the matchup. Learn to “space” with your normals to make your opponent second guess if he should press a button. don’t just do block strings and tick grabs. Learn to do things like 2 cr. Jabs, walk back cr. Foward, f-lk xx lk tsumuji

What’s the timing for the sjc kasumi gake after TC 6?

I can’t get my hands on an arcade stick, so I’ve been learning to plink with the controller. Just a question though… I thought the highest priority move would come out on a plink. Like Fierce comes out instead of medium punch. I find my medium punch always coming out during it. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong?

I get the
(m)(m)
(m)
When I try P-linking.
Anyways, thanks for the help in advance.

What is (m) ? And how are you getting (m)(m)?

You are most likely plinking wrong.

if you are trying to plink fierce and getting medium then yeah you are doing something wrong but no idea what (m) is.

Is there anyway you can use U2 on a launched opponent? Something similar to how Chunli and Balrog launch their opponent and do their Ultra.

You mean if U2 can juggle? eg: b+MP into U2

Afaik, no.

If U2 had juggle ability I would jizz my pants.

Is there any way to beat wake up reversals? Cammy Ken Ryu etc? I have been so pissed lately with me trying to pressure them after a knockdown with jumping kunai. But this is the only way for me to keep pressuring them. I always jumpin after they get knocked down. I also try to crossup lk but that doesnt work either.
P.S. I play online and I’m at the bottom of the bunch where mashers and ppl who have annoying strategies i.e. adon’s constant jaggar tooth, kick.

It depends on your setup. Ibuki has safe jump setups for pretty much the entire cast, and hitbox safe jumps for the shotos.

If you’re still playing noobs, you can also use her kunai vortex as a safe jump. There is no way for Cammy/Ken/Ryu to get out without risking getting punished with neckbreaker or other punish.

Try to see if you can post a vid or two of yourself trying to beat reversals so we can see what’s going on.

Btw, Adon’s Jaguar Tooth is generally U1 punishable. If you mean Jaguar Kick spam, then you’re out of luck. You can try neutral jump or b+MP spam, but it’s a lot easier to reaction punish it offline.

i think hes talking about what the training mode input display shows.

@ reaper… i have no idea how you get an input display like that, unless you have 2 medium punche attacks next to each other…only other thing is maybe your buttons are wonky and you are getting a quick double tap even when not going for one.

It’s a medium punch next to the heavy and a medium punch under those. It’s just something odd that happens every once in awhile. I’ve been using it to get out Sakura’s down medium punch 1 frame link.

So you mean?:
(m)(h)
(m)

If so, you’re plinking wrong. The M is coming out before H, which should be the other way around. The above input is actually equal to
(h)
(m)
since H has priority over M.

You cannot plink MP with a HP…

(m)(l)
(l)

That’s what you should see.

Gotcha. This helps a lot. Thanks, guys.

You mean
(l)(m)
(m)
?
