Why do you say that? He wants to punish Jab Shoryuken.
Edit: I’m assuming he’s playing very laggy Mathew, MK is cool too =)

You can also block, sweep and safejump LK. … I think.
^ safejump a shoto with a 3frame dp?
There is no LK safe jumping Ken’s DP, sweeping is a bad idea too. Just block and then answer with something simple like a St. Jab, poke him a couple times and they’ll stop spamming. Online is just stupid repetition, sometimes you need to slap some since into them.
I’ve been away from the game for a while and from what I can remember it’s possible to reset them in the air from a safecross LK. And for some odd reason I think Ken’s requires a tighter timing.
Found a vid from another thread: credits to Niko and all those who deserve them.
It’s going to be incredibly difficult to match this neckbreaker setup with a sweep setup. Especially due to spacing.
Quanchi San!!
Looks like you’ve got Ibuki fever again I see.
A beautiful safe jump I’ve been using is backthrow -> dash, superjump lk
It crosses-up, and if you suspect a block, use normal jump instead. You can TC4 or whatever afterwards.
This setup whiffs on certain characters. Actually I think it whiffs on everybody due to spacing.
I’m pretty sure all of you go into training mode to practice your combos and such. I want to know what you guys do in training mode and how long do you practice. For example, do you guys do a combo 20 times to get used to it? I’m trying to get some ideas on how I can practice with Ibuki. I hope my question made sense… Thanks in advance!
I don’t use training mode. I’m the typical arcade dude, but I do like to do a couple of trials or something to get the timing down. Mostly Ryu’s 24th, but that’s it.
This definitely doesn’t whiff… I haven’t had it whiff on any character from memory. It’s possible to dash outta it or focus, and I know Sakura can do crouching Fierce to hit, but other than that, it works pretty well for me!
The cons are of course… If the person expects it, it’s like a waste of throw. Unfortunately I’ve taken the habit to back-throw as a quick punish, which with some characters isn’t a very good idea. sigh, it even builds less meter. =(
I believe there was some sort of Ibuki training regimen thread somewhere, whereever it went. We should revitalize it and turn it into a thread of like practical combos and setups every Ibuki should know.
Anyways I mostly just warmup in training room nowadays. No real training anymore. Just stuff like TC6 xx SJC cd and SJC U2, and maybe tsumuji loop practice. I’m already very well acquainted with spacing and vortex setups/spacing after experience. And the main combos I use are fairly easy (for me anyways) already.
I can’t think of anything you’d really need to practice. Just the main mixups and vortex setups.
In addition to what mingo stated, another main combo that I practice would be St mp x mk x mk tsumiji x spin kick x EX tsumiji (or lk tsumiji or kazegiri) and the followup afterwards. St mp is particularily useful during dash mixups after a forward throw, and ex tsumiji (although if your execution is really good you can use cr hp after ex tsumiji)
Why dash mixup after a forward throw when you can just vortex? Maybe dash mixup after a kazegiri or something.
Actually I wouldn’t recommend practicing tsumuji loops (st.LP or f+LK loops) without some way of blinking. Unless you double tap (or both?). 1frame links without plink: it’s too much of a risk to give up your pressure game unless you’re already in a huge lead and are like styling on your opponent or something.
If you are fighting someone like Hakan or Rufus or DJ where Kunai mixup might be risky the CD mixups are safer. Also mixing up CD with kunai vortex is very rewarding.
If you practice the tsumiji loops in training mode, you should be able to pull it off most of the time. I don’t plink or double tap and I hit that combo often enough, and if you miss, its fairly safe too, unless the opponent is just mashing DP. The reason why I think I am so accurate though is because the beginning is usually easy and once you see that you hit the tsumiji you can easily prepare yourself for the follow up link.
I main Vega and I had to learn how to do 1 frame combos, and I got good with it w/o any of those techniques. So the tsumiji loops are nothing in comparison in my opinion.
Hakan: I never jump on his wakeup.
Rufus: I mixup vortex with SJ j.LK (safe jump crossup).
DJ: I continue to vortex. If I suspect an autocorrect reversal, don’t crossup with the vortex, and then punish his whiffed reversal.
I don’t give up on vortex just because my opponent has an option to get out. If it’s 50/50, it’s still in my favor.
When he chooses Ultra II, and has Revenge Meter right? Sometimes I forget about this…
What can I do after a knockdown? I always do the cross-up kunai vortex but they start to catch on. What are my options?
Do noncrossup kunai vortex. Or safe jump, or crossup safe jump, or command dash mixup.
If anything, take your free ticket to begin your pressure game. If they’re blocking the kunai everytime, then they’re not trying to get out of it like the rest of our opponents.
