Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

Go into Training Mode against Ryu, and do a Neckbreaker.
Just jump at different times but throw the Kunai at the same height, check if it’s safe.
Then, jump early and throw the Kunai at a different height, check if safe.

Making a video at 23(?) fps isn’t much help, you gotta get the feel for it.
Remember that certain characters get up at different times (Cody is slow, Adon is fast).

I only know of two timings that are safe after a crouching roundhouse against the average character. Cody is obviously very unfortunate 'cause you can Vortex him in so many different ways.

Late jump early Kunai is for hitting the Kunai on the same side, but landing on the other. If the opponent blocks (he can’t reversal) Ibuki will be slightly unsafe, like -1 or something. Great for the desperate Yoroitoshi.

Awesome thanks bro I’m goin to do that. Another question if u dont mind. Can ibuki properly kunai cross up after a foward throw and a back throw? What about sweeps and NB normal and ex? I’m using lk to cross up alot more against dome character since I’m just scared of the ex move(Dudley,Chun,Rufus)

Thanks for any help too bad Orlando is filled with hondas balrogs lol I can’t learn from anybody but the forum and.videos

She CAN cross-up after a f.throw, it’s just that it’s VERY unsafe. As for b.throws, do a dash then either High Jump or Jump in with a lk. This is a safe jump that will beat many reversals. (High Jump crosses-up)

How exactly is it unsafe? I vortex off a forward throw all the time.

You tested them blocking it on either side and not have frame-advantage? There’s no way Ibuki lands with a 0 on block. I guess I could be wrong, but I don’t think I am.

ibuki can land with advantage after a forward throw>blocked crossup kunai.

need to hit ankle deep.

Thanks, this is why online spurs bad habits.

I could not find this info on the eventhubs or SRK wiki page for Ibuki’s frame data: does anybody know how many invincibility frames EX kazegiri has?

Thanks guys

I got a question. I’ma a Cody player picking up Ibuki as a secondary, and while playing…I’ve failed to find a proper counter to Bison’s headstomp. Is running away (evading with a command dash or slide) the best option, or does she have a proper counter like Cody’s b.MP (shuts all headstomps down).

Just airthrow him. It’s the best option. You can also jhp or jmk him.Crhp and b+mp beat headpress but have to be timed correctly.Be careful with your spacing. You can also focus his headstomp since its not armor breaking move. But just beware because he can follow up a headpress with the skull diver move, which is pretty slow and you’ll see that coming anyway.

I get airstomped when I try to airthrow.

As i said, be careful with your spacing. When he’s right above you, obviously you can’t airthrow him, you’d better block or focus him in this case.

If he’s doing one of those scrubby random head stomps from a range just walk, dash forward or df+MK slide under it. If it’s too late to do any of that just block.

This might take some testing, but wouldn’t you be able to punish his headstomp after block with hp.neckbreaker? Like he can only do one of two things:

  1. fly back to where he jumped from, and have a few frames of recovery, where hp.neckbreaker should grab him
  2. followup with a Devil’s Reverse or whatever it’s called, which hp.neckbreaker should just sneak under anyways and still punish

Or am I missing something?

I think the timing is tight, I’ve been getting hit with the follow up. You wouldn’t think it would hit that low.

Another question. Been running into a lot of Ken’s lately…and the Lp.Shoryuken is causing me problems. I can’t seem to find a suitable counter to the “approach” of constantly spamming Lp.Shoryuken’s into either grabs or EX Shoryukens on contact. Does Ibuki have a proper counter to this?

cr.MP xx Neckbreaker
He DOES have recovery, enough for you to get in there an Ultra. The problem is probably 'cause you’re playing online; use cr.MP 'cause it has a lot of active-frames. If you punish too early you should be safe if you did a lp Neckbreaker.

If you’re punishing you’d might as well use st.MK xx Neckbreaker, since st.MK starts up faster and you don’t need normals with lots of active frames.

thats terrible advice
