Ibuki Q&A Thread: Ask simple questions here!

Thank you.

Quick question: does Rose’s U2 count as projectiles?

You probably already have the answer but yes it is.

For the longest time I thought EX Hien went through fireballs…No it doesn’t

Edit-Would c.lk -> c.lp ->st.lp ->st.mk -> Special make for a better BnB? Only problem is c.lk -> c.lp is 3 frames instead of 1 on block so a rog mashing a dp could get in between.

whats the best punish for a tatsu?

Got 2 or 3 matches in against a somewhat competent Rose player, and from my experience against her Ultra 2, vortex beats her soul orbs simply because they’re depending on her orbs to hit first that most of them don’t bother to block the right way(I have yet to see a Rose block Ibuki’s vortex upon activating U2). I notice any sort of confirmed hit will make the orbs disappear, again, in situations where U2 was activated, I use both neckbreaker and EX neckbreaker and I got off scotch free but this may have been because the player that he was totally safe with the orbs floating around that he didn’t bother blocking at mid range.
I’ve also seen Cammy sweep Rose while with U2 activated, maybe it only covers Rose’s upper half…?

Another question about CD that I would like cleared up(I’m sure I missed it a while ago), I know they is almost no down time while using CD inbetween a combo/target combo but does difference in strength affect when you can hit(i.e. lk CD = fastest recovery?)

If you like 1 frame links, sure.

You got 3 options:

  1. cr.HP SJC to something, or just cancel into regular jump. cr.HP offers mixups here.
  2. cr.HK. Get your knockdown and start vortexing. Only if Ryu lands next to you.
  3. Neckbreaker. Get your knockdown and start vortexing. Only if Ryu flies away from you.

I dunno. For the time being I’ve been doing safe jumps when Rose has U2. Trying to play it totally safe because if she just so happens to block the vortex correctly with U2 activated, you eat like 380dmg or so. If she activates it when you do a safe jump setup, she instantly loses one of his orbs, making it much less of a threat.

Most characters’ sweep hitboxes keep their vulnerable hitbox behind their leg, so if spaced correctly you shouldn’t get hit by the orbs.

Yes lk.cd is the fastest. If it’s because it might have faster recovery, I’m not sure. It could just be it has less active frames or something. I’d have to check Ibuki’s frame data.

Its a 2 frame link and theirs no info on Kasumi Gake on Event hubs.

cr.LK , cr.LP is definitely a 1 frame link.

I don’t have specific data on Ibuki’s command dash but I heard awhile ago someone said Ibuki was like -2 after st.MK xx lk.cd.

I saw an Ibuki use HP, d+HK, HK and a Kasumi Gake (qcf+K) immediately after which took her to the other side of the opponent where she continued the combo before the opponent even hit the ground.

I tried for a while in training mode, but I can’t seem to combo anything after the Kasumi Gake or even get on the otherside of the opponent. Is there a trick to this or is my timing just way off?

You have to SJC into command dash.

^ Yeah, you also have to do the SJC quite late. Once you get it down it’s cake.

Thanks, I’ll give it a try.

:d::u::qcf::k:?

Are you trolling? Thats not even possible to sjc into U2…
Before SJC into U2. Do you know how to SJC into a dash? Its the same thing accept one extra qcf buffer with the exact same timing.
Into a dash…
:qcf::uf:

Into Ultra 2

:qcf::qcf::uf:

Just memorize the timing when a move is super jump canceled and buffer in before hand and hit the kick during the timing.

You should also practice with C.FP because it can not be normal cancel’d and the theirs a huge pause to help understand what I mean.
If you get Kazegirl/Cmd dash from C.FP that means you buffered wrong and sjc into those moves if your going for U2

speaking of SJC could someone explain the timing of cl.HKxx SJC C. Dash to me?

Thats probably the hardest. The SJC is from the 2nd hit and not the 1st and the timing is rather weird since it can be normal jump cancel’d. Just do the move over and over SJC into nothing and memorize the moment.

i see. I can get the Launcher SJC to C.Dash easy now In training mode (haven’t set it up properly in a match yet tho.).

I guess that cl.Hk and U2 are the next two SJCs to grind out

Haha, not trolling. I’m still pretty new and haven’t done any SJC’s, just assumed it was a SJ chained with the next move. Thanks for the info.

This was posted before.

Has anyone found out how to do this yet?

Nevermind, I saw the video thread.
Delayed HK.

What should I do after an overhead?

When I played NerdJosh, I think he was doing F + Lk, is that the best option?

I’ve been able to land a S. Lk and the F + Lk. S. Lk goes into TC9 (iirc) and that’s an easy cancel to anything. Is there a benefit to using F + Lk? I know you can also go into TC4, but I’ve never been able to land it.

You can link jab or f+lk. I think f+lk has a little more range, and will hit all characters that are crouching.
