Guile’s like an easy Ryu, just safe jump him with LK on knockdown, flash kick doesn’t auto-correct as much as Ryu’s SRK does. Ibuki’s slide is what’s needed here, max range slide, throw out some jabs, get a feel of what he’d do next, if he’s crouching watch out for a Flash Kick. After some jabs you can also go for a command dash to take out a sonic boom charge. Basically just safe cross jump him so he loses both charges. Counter poke with cr.MK at far range, anti-air and dish out slides which will be the go-to move in any projectile matchup.
I’ve read in the ibuki forum that in order to perform the insta kunai jump u have to do a motion similar to cammy TKCS (something like performing the kunay motion befor the jump) but i cannot find the timing
any tips?
could u explain it in detail ?
tnx:bluu:
I play on pad(Im assuming u do 2) an when i try to do TkKunia its doenst work all the time and i still dont understand why but what i have been doing for a while is quickly press jump foward/backward then kunia or 9236 or 7214 for backwards(i can tk this much better then foward for some reason)
I’ve been working on getting my vortex consistent and mixing in raida and tsumuji to mix in damage and alter range as well as playing with tsuijigoe, and I have some questions.
Right now I’m using a Ken doing F. DP, mashing them out fast enough to reversal/stuff/etc if I do anything “unsafe”, and my first question is, is this set-up good to practice openings and cross/mix/vortex on? Should it be Ken? Should it be fp. DP, or mp. DP, or lp. DP?
My next question is with tsuijigoe and the super, is there a safe way to use tsuijigoe to bait a DP then punish with super on reaction?
Finally, what knockdown/spacing should I be trying to use TK kunai off of? Does it work on techable knockdown at all?
Thanks ahead of time for the answers, been trying to get SJC to ultra 2 down off of cross up kunai among other things so I just want to know what my options are and if my training set-up is good enough.
Thanks Daigo
OK so the vortex is escapable thanks to focus attack back dash. I was testing OS’s today and it doesn’t seem you can OS from the kunai. So has anybody found options against this? It seems now that Ibuki is going to have to rely on command dash mix ups and an occasional command dash into sj kunai vortex.
You can Raida after the kunai to catch the focus backdash. Link below shows momochi doing this against… daigo

This has been known for awhile, and isn’t an issue. As pointed out by elstob with the vid. Also, depending on the height that your doing it into and such can determine weither or not they can focus and get out safely, which usually means the kunai setup was incorrect in the first place (only time it’ll ever be safe to focus through it is if the kunai is in the upper portion of their body). With out that, you dont even have to worry about focus since a perfectly timed one usually means that your next hit after landing will either break focus, or whiff. In the case of whiffing you can OS sweep to prevent the dash back.
LOL uhh no, I wish. I am top ten Ibuki on PSN if that is what you’re referring to. The thing with online rank is that alot of the elite/pro players don’t play online ranked matches like that. They always play offline/endless match so you can’t assume that I’m this really good Ibuki just because I’m high ranked on PSN. I’m no slouch tho, but to be honest, I depend too much on the vortex which isn’t a good thing.
If u know he’s going to focus backdash the kunai u can just mash throw and you’ll throw him before he gets to start the backdash.
I was actually testing this in training mode today and nothing seemed to work, the good part is that actually trying to focus back dash out of the meaty has very strict timing. BTW I was reffering to the same video in the earlier post, if you watch it again Daigo manages to escape a few times out of the vortex.
questions numbered
1- Sure why not. Doesnt’ really matter. You should be timing it meaty to stuff anyways and if it doesnt connect because of DP. You shouldn’t be hit if timed correctly and its highly unsafe for a free anything
2- Why no. Tsujioe is heavily unsafe but if done on their wakeup correctly, you can hit them with a super while they shoryuken in the air but its risky in that a competent opponent can see it and won’t mash DP when they see you spinning through the air but if you feel like styling on someone…
3- Go to practice. Techable knockdowns are free reversals and risky and you don’t want to risk that with Ibukis low health. She has a lot of untechable knockdowns anyways. Only one that isn’t of the top of my head is Kazegirl…
Edit- How to vortex without burning super. Asked many times. I just ignored it. Tiger knee motion rarely works
Thanks guy, another quick question, do people tend to prefer full SJ meaty kunai, or command dash/normal dash TK meaty kunai for cross up/ vortex?
I think the command dash kunai vortex is better just because of the mix up possibilities and it is not as easily seen
If you have a frame advantage of 5 and a move starts up in 5. Will it link? If no then Sazan(slide) will not link to standing short
without verifying your frame data ( i assume its correct as i haven’t memorized her frame data yet) then that should be a 1-frame link
b-linking for ibuki’s lp looks very useful.
Ive never tried this, is there a video of this. Since I depend on vortex too much, a command dash kunai vortex will increase my game.

momochi also does this a lot in his match videos. It isn’t quite as safe as the SJ vortex imo but is obviously useful
What makes it unsafe? Is it the frame advantage on block or more likely to get reversel’d.
Edit-Sazan has 16 frames of hit stun and if hit on the last active frame. you’ll have a frame adv. of 5. Recovery- 11. Active-11 If it hits on the first active frame your -5.

LOL wow that was beautiful. 40 seconds of non stop vortex, that was awesome. Is that a lk CD with a TK kunai? I do something similar to this but without the CD after a toward grab. I’m sure people have seen it/done it, but thats very unsafe. A DP can stop it or they can easily block it and punish when you land.
Has anybody made this after a grab more safe or do you not do it because its so unsafe?
I never got dp’d out of it but the timing is tricky to be at an advantage after block
