Yes, I can read the annotations. But that setup definitely does not look like a safe jump, not even against 5f dp’s.
I demand that Izuna retest his two setups (0:43 and 0:51) and offer video proof of Ibuki landing in time to block 5f reversals, or else get rid of the annotations that say that those setups are safe jump certified.
So I recorded it, it’s safe to EX Kazegiri, but when I tried to block…
Spoiler
It’s Unblockable!
No wonder why I’ve never lost an Ibuki Mirror set. Sorry RedCaliburn!
[Unblockable 1 - hits tip of head - Safe-jump]
HOW TO ESCAPE: Focus the j.LK, then dash forward. Or use LK Command Dash and block the option-select Neckbreaker to punish. EX Kazegiri escapes if and only if Ibuki option-selects a Neckbreaker.
[Unblockable 2 - hits lower down - not a Safe-jump]
HOW TO ESCAPE: Reversal EX Kazegiri.
-> If you Focus the j.LK and dash forward you will eat a full TC4 into Neckbreaker.
-> If you Reversal Command Dash you will eat the j.LK and the BnB follow-up.
There is one-frame separating these two unblockables, and the escapable options for both lose to the other. There is no way to get out Unblockable 2 without meter.
Staying quite:badboy:
Izuna remember our last set of casuals when you said you never seen the setups I was doing before, lol. Maybe I have some secrets up my sleeve, hehe
Ill show you a few things but Ill probably tell you to not put it in the guide until I start placing in NY. Lets just say that my vortex is incredibly strong right now.
how are these unblockables when you are blocking to the left when you are on the left of the screen and the ibuki goes for a crossup and then you block to the right when she is about to hit in front of you? that defies how you block sir!
It doesn’t matter which way you block. The j.LK hits on the second frame. This means that your hurt-box changes as you go into your blocking animation for a frame, which is why when you hold left, Ibuki hits to the left, and if you hold right, Ibuki hits to the right. Technically there is a way to block this set-up, but you would have to tap left on the exact from before, and no earlier.
A lot of people don’t understand this concept, which is why it’s so easy to win with Ibuki online =). (unless you’re fighting like Blanka or something)
I forgot to mention. Switching between Unblockable 1 & 2 is done by delaying the jump by a single frame (which is why the 2nd isn’t a safe-jump), but you jump with the same spacing.
Ok ic that is definitely mind blowing that ibuki can do that. Never would’ve thought about that before. Thanks for clarifying it. I just always thought there couldn’t be unblockables in ssf4 because you can’t hit someone in multiple directions simultaneously but I guess this works too lol!
His Cammy rocks as well. For French-speaking people out there, he is casting on elive.pro on a regular basis to share some of his discoveries (last one was about Yang’s cross-up dive kick setups). Too bad we don’t see him a lot in the French scene :-/
Yes but it’s kind of an obsolete setup in AE. The b+MP works on almost the entire cast, and cr.MK is only really useful against those that wakeup later, like Sagat and Cammy.
Ohhh ok, just making sure. It’s weird because he was using the cr.MK safe jump when I was using Ryu o_o and it stuffed my shoryuken for some reason. Even though I was spamming (due to lack of arcade machine practice)
Just for completeness, I’m fairly sure that’s a hitbox safe jump (where you stuff the dp or make it whfif) and not a traditional safe jump (where you land in time to block the dp). In that case, just be sure you mix up your setups so you don’t get hit with TEH AUTOCORRECKZ which can stop Ibuki’s momentum.
