After a jumpin it does seem to work on everybody, but if you wanted to use it as a raw punish then you might be out of luck. What I did was record Ibuki doing the combo and the playing it back on Ryu, and at random times the st.MK would whiff. Or rather, Ryu is able to block it.
Hmm it does seem to work on Guy. Not sure what I did before.
Edit: oh I looked at the wrong row in the chart. It was actually Hakan.
Did your Ibuki do the combo on the same side everytime? That’s quite interesting… If you were able to look at the hit-boxes in SF4, you’d see that as you walk forward it’s changing slightly.
Is it the same timing when you use it in a juggle or you have to do it early when you sjc dash in the follow ups?
For example: cl.Hk > (late) sjc dash > cl.Hk (1st hit / early) sjc dash > cr.HP (early) sjc dash…etc
Also, how many juggles is it possible to do? I usually see Agemen > cl.Hk > cr. HP, but could you make it longer?
cl.st.HK xx SJC cd actually has to be done early since you’re hitting with just one hit, specifically the second hit of it for 60dmg (cl.st.HK does 50+60 dmg). Same with the second cl.st.HK.
The timing is different because you have less hitstop to work with, as you’re only getting one hit each time and not the full two hits.
After cl.st.HK, I believe you can only do one more juggle, assuming you went for the full two hit cl.st.HK. If you only got one hit off the cl.st.HK then you can go for two more.
This is assuming cl.st.HK was used as the juggle starter. So something like stHK stHK crHP would work, but b+MP stHK stHK would not.
cr.HP resets your opponent. There is no possible way to continue juggling your opponent after this.
40.** The many different playstyles of Ibuki**
-attempt to play footsies
-avoid traditional footsies; play a spacing game, generally using Ibuki’s mobility to her max potential
-push random buttons; create a lot of “noise” for your opponent (not the same as autopilot)
-solid play; lots of safe jumps and basic 50/50 mixups
-“random” or erratic play; very focused on rushdown and extreme pressure on the opponent
-combination of the above
Sounds like Ibuki is your new girlfriend for now Izuna.
But we appreciate all the hard work you put into the guide. It looks like you’re going into a LOT more specific detail this time around compared to your second revision.
After this, how could anyone complain about Ibuki ever again? We literally have a NINJA MANUAL they can read to figure out our tactics.
That isn’t as funny as you probably thought it would be…
But thanks, I hope that there’s no need for another guide after this one. There may be new set-ups, or new match-up related stuff, but all of that requires either an older game or actual practice anyway.
I apologize if you were offended, I thought you were half-heartedly joking about it.
But it looks like a pretty comprehensive guide that covers pretty much everything. I think the most difficult part would be covering specific details on all of her matchups…which would take a significant amount of time. A lot of the information you’ve had in the past revisions is still applicable to AE 2012.
I’ve recently taken in the role to be the graphic designer for the player guide.
However, during my time through the book, I have run into some issues. **The book is to be delayed until the 30th, January 2012. **I apologize.
Thank you guys for your patience, we hope to finish up the guide by then. Thanks!
Oh man, you’re going all out Izuna! I wish I could help with the guide, but sadly I’m just a street fighter newbie
BTW, when I was going at it in training mode, I was practicing the s.mk xx lk Tsumuji, s.mk frame trap. If I did it twice, I could also do a cr.mp xx whatever after the second Tsumuji I also tested this in ranked battles and it actually worked since I guess, most Ibuki players stop at the second Tsumuji.
I couldn’t quite until I finished the Rev. 3 guide. =) I’m glad to hear you’re exploring new things with Ibuki, that’s some of the best fun you’ll have.
cant wait for the update, been really trying to learn ibuki as an alt to chun-li, playing her more than chun right now and having tons of fun, trying not to use the vortex as a crutch until i learn how to play patiently and get in without being too dumb.
i know this will help my overall play, because zoning with chun all day doesn’t really teach me that much patience, i always seem to be pressing some kind of button with her. as ibuki you have to read your opponent to figure out how to set up your offense, so hopefully this will help me level up some fundamentals.
let me know when you are going to be at WSO Izuna, missed this week as im trying to find a new place, but will prob go back and get me ass kicked next week.
LK Tsumuji , st.MK isn’t exactly a frame trap. LK Tsumuji is -4 on block and st.MK has 5f startup (so about 9 frame gap) so there’s a pretty good chance of your opponent interrupting your st.MK.
I know that using this highly theoretically punishable think is against the “Mingo way of playing”, but you should give it a try and you’d be surprised. A lot of players will go for either a slow move because they’re far from you and get caught by the st.MK
That said, this “frameS trap” shouldn’t be used often as people will just get to know it
