Ibuki Player Guide (book)

I get a lot of hate when I play ST. I play a pretty good zoning game to begin with, but I abuse Tick-Throws on anyone who’s not familiar with them.

We’ve got two pretty good hawk players down at the arcade, and all they DO is abuse tick throws. What’s worse is that Hawk’s tick throws are perfectly safe to do as long as your execution is on point, and at least for shotos, there’s no real way out of it. It’s sort of part of the game at this point, and it’s not too difficult to counter if your ticks are too repetitive.

Backdash?

lol

lol, I wish we had a backdash with invulnerability in this game. It’s to the point where if you get caught in the corner against a grappler, you better hit them in the face irl during their ticks, because there aint no way of getting out of it.

But then again that’s kind of fair. If I got caught in a dark alley against a 400-pound Russian guy who fights bears for fun…I’d probably die quickly too.

If T.Hawk gets you into the corner then by all means, give him the advantage haha. Good luck to him getting past the fireball game.

Anyway with izuna くノ一 > 誰 (Kunoichi > everyone) ! (yea this was a usefull comment !)

The interesting thing about the Kanji くノ一 is that it’s actually the strokes for 女 (meaning women) spaced out. It is a very strange word because it uses one character of Hiragana, Katakana, and then the Chinese character for the number one.

Oh it’s definitely in Ryu’s favor. But all it takes is one single knockdown from Hawk, and it’s gg. Although good hawks can neutral jump and hawk dive QUICK at mid-range to get past the fireball. Have to use Ryu’s godly cr.forward, cr.RH, and good anti-airs to keep the big dude away.

I know a lot of you were expecting the Rev.3 guide today, but due to unforeseen circumstances it couldn’t be done.

… Until the 23rd guys.

Low res?

Doesn’t that make it more hype? It’s not actually going to be low res, I zoomed in like that on purpose.

I’m never ever going to forget you Mongo.

No homo.

So I finally watched your Ibuki video guide. I think it’s pretty good, but a couple things (if you don’t mind my criticism):

 1. 0:10 mark, “Practing” Footsies, lol
 2. I thought Ibuki’s command dash was called Kasumi Gake, not Kasumi Susaku? Either way, meh.
 3. Lots of slight resizing of the main window for some reason. I don’t mean the part where you go full screen with Ibuki and Ryu, I mean the window gets slightly bigger then slighter smaller at random points in the video. Something wrong with your encoder or editor or something?
 4. Also missing audio or skipping audio in a few parts, such as at 5:49-5:52.
 5. st.MP , st.MP , st.MK actually whiffs on Dan and Guy (fairly sure), and they randomly work/don’t work on Ken and Ryu. You saw it yourself when you tried to do it and then the st.MK got blocked.
 6. No Raida/EX Raida/air throw/nj.MK antiairs? Ibuki’s airthrow is really really good, and so is Raida especially against dive kickers.

There’s always a part 2 I guess, since I’m assuming you’ll probably be covering option selects and unblockables and maybe footsies and everything else.

Arrrggghhh This sjc command dash after st.roundhouse or TC10 is a pain in my ass… I can´t do it consistently at all.
I´ve watching for hours how Izuna does it in , trying to “feel” the timing but I can´t…I must be the worst Ibuki player ever :,(

Try inputting the SJC cd as late as possible.

Watch for your inputs after the second HK. Make sure you get a clean tiger knee motion.

Like Mingo said, try to do the inputs as late as possible. If you’re getting a regular super jump after the TC10, then you’ll need to adjust the timing of your button presses until you get a general idea of when to perform the move.

When I first started out how to do it, I would just piano all 3 kick buttons. For me, I didn’t really care much which version of kasumi gake came out, as long as SOMETHING came out, so that I wouldn’t risk jumping into an easy DP after TC10. Once you can do that, then you can just start plinking or double-tapping the HK for the command dash, and you’ll become a lot more consistent at it.

 1. Practicing… =( I’ll make an annotation.

 2. Between the U1 combos and Super combos there’s a section I in the middle. I thought I’d had edited it out 'cause it’s mostly useless but I forgot.

 3. Ah you noticed. This is because FRAPS can’t create singular files more than 4GB large. When I put a new video into Premier Pro I had to manually resize it everytime. I’m going to be looking into how I can work around that.

 4. Sometimes I said something I shouldn’t have >_<

 5. For Shotos, it’s actually a spacing issue. It works on Guy perfectly okay (just tested, and I remember Iyo doing it), and on Dan it works after a jump-in, meaty attack, after focus attack, and it works fine when he’s crouching. However it doesn’t work after a Vortex on any of them. With Ryu and Ken it never works on a counter-hit Kunai, which is the same for a lot of characters.

 6. Stay tuned… =)

Thanks mingo and eltrouble, that was an amazing tip!!! If I piano all 3 kick buttons I can do it very very consistently!!! As you said, at least I don´t go into an easy DP.
I´m very happy right now !!! xD

… I could have just nested all of the videos then resized them.
