Man having people praise you is the best. I love using HJC Ultra I and st.Roundhouse mix-ups and hear “oooooooooooooooooooo” lol. We should play sometime Damascus, I want to show you a few things I’ve learnt.
The last tourney I was at, I was pulling out SJC’s and tsumuji loops no problem. But I didn’t get any such “praise” or “oooooooooo.” Probably because I still lost and my execution was overshadowed by the CViper nerd that won the tourney.
tl,dr: winning is more important than showing off flashy combos or execution. Unless you don’t care about winning. Then by all means.
It happens more when you make friends with everyone before. Once everyone recognises you and knows your name, they tend to make a big deal out of almost anything.
Exactly. The main thing that made me invest a lot of time in Street Fighter is the community. I meet players every day, we talk a lot, we go to casual sessions at my place every Friday (and now even some top French players come to play with us on Friday too), and man, just go in an arcade center while being a Street Fighter player and you’ll make instant friends.
By the way, out of the line here, but I’ll leave Paris and move to New York in February, do you guys know how is the Street Fighter scene there? Any nice arcade centers/regular tournaments?
@Mingo: On the opposite,I think that I’m starting to be popular not thanks to my skill level (because I still have a whole lot of garbage I should eliminate from my game, such as not anti-airing and bad tech reactions), but rather because my playstyle is extremely offensive, so when you loose, you look like a noob, when you win, you are the man. I don’t care about my opponents level, my first objective is only to put him into as much pressure as possible, and since you can steal a round from almost anyone in the world with an Ibuki & various setups, I could occasionally beat some top players because they weren’t able to guess where my kunai was going/if my jump was safe, empty or crossup. I just don’t care about winning/losing, but I want my wins to be nice
By the way, a nice, safe, and VERY ambiguous jumpin I often use is when you are cornered: neckbreaker - whiffed cr.MP - j.LK. It is almost impossible to see if it will crossup or not, and it’s safe against Ryu’s shoryukens, or Sagat’s Tiger Uppercut - you’d have to wait around 1 frame before jumping as far as I saw), so I would assume that it’s pretty safe . Oh, and it’ll crossup or not according to the combo you used. TC4 xx necbkreaker doesn’t crossup, st.MK xx neckbreaker does, although I’m not perfectly sure and will have to test it.
Izuna: Next time I see you online, we’ll play for sure. By the way if you’re interested, I’m going to have some matches in infinite with WDM Cuongster (he mains Yun/Honda, er… just Honda now, and I’m pretty sure you’ve seen him last Canada Cup or Dreamhack ), so I can see how do you manage to play a good Honda!
Since CTF closed down, Henry Cen opened up Next Level arcade. I don’t think it’s a typical arcade center, but that’s where the top NYC players go, AFAIK.
Yeah of course I know Coungster, I go WSO after all. We’ve talked about Canada Cup and Dreamhack a bunch. Infiltration really turned his game around during the break against Yun.
You’ll have to tell me what times you’re usually on though, because I don’t tend to turn it on unless I’m about to play someone in particular. =|
Definitely this. But if I cared about winning I wouldn’t be using Ibuki would I?
hey guys, my matches with momochi are up. i was gonna cut and edit it so i can show u guys a select few matches where i didnt get bodied as hard, but im too lazy so ull have to filter through them all.

my matches start at 26:12 i think.
the only matches i feel are really worth critiquing are the first match (26:12) and the match where i managed to comeback a round with super. (37:05)
the rest of the time i mostly got bodied so theres not much to critique.
all in all, momochi was the funnest, most challenging opponent ever. i found that i didnt really get nervous or frustrated (tho i dropped some stupid combos), i was just thinking “omg im playing momochi, this is FUCKING AWESOME.” the dude is pretty much the reason I started playing sf4.
i also got to play RF, kindevu, and Xian for lengthy sets as well. best experience ever.
hopefully u guys wont think i played too terrible, he is one of japan’s finest after all. either way i think i levelled up a whole lot that weekend. i wish i couldve played him all day.
P.S lol @ me trying to use f.HK that first match. thinking its ae2012 already haha.
Okay straight away, why would you throw a Kunai like that? The most you could have done is like 30 DMG to Momochi, but he get’s the chance to deal a full jump-in combo which takes about 40% of your life.
The whole Kasumi Gake -> Kunai set-up was made by Momochi himself haha. If you watch his older replays, you’ll see that he pretty much used to do that all the time. I guess you couldn’t have known, and did adapt to not use it again pretty quickly.
Another thing is that you did Neckbreaker -> cr.MP -> j.LK. You do not need to do safe-jumps to try and bait a wake-up reversal against Cody. He doesn’t have 4-frame Up-kicks for you to worry about. I would have liked to see more subtle mix-ups like walkback, sj.MK. You really made him relieved because you almost never cross-ups him up your entire set.
I don’t think your blocking was all that bad. Had your Okizeme been more effective, and had you not dropped every combo that wasn’t a target combo, you would have taken a few of those games. I say you fought him well, it’s just all down to your issues with the game rather than fighting Momochi. Please make sure you have the cr.Short combos down solid before attempting them.
Also you may have noticed, but on counter-hit you can’t Tsumuji Cody from a distance. You should get in the habit of using Neckbreaker after a long hit-confirm.
cool. thx. yeah i need to work on my okizeme, i could not get a mixup for the life of me. i think my spacing was alright tho.
as far as using momochi’s setup. practically everything i know in this game comes from japanese players haha, its a tough situation to avoid. like u i picked up ibuki when momochi was playing her.
neways thx for the critique, hope i didnt let u guys down with my sub-par ibuki
lets get some more games in sometime izuna!
I’ll be looking on my phone when you sign in, and then we’ll play some okay? I want to get a set of Makoto vs. Ibuki with you. =)
Mmm, it really depends, but I usually play online on saturday evenings/sunday afternoon/evening, and if I get some time to turn on the Xbox, occasionnaly a weekday evening. I’ll tweet you next time I’m on.
If you cared about winning, you’d use Yun =)
Sunday I have a date, funnily enough to the Arcades, so I’m still going to be playing SF.
MAAAAAAN I was going to upload matches of me vs. this American Gouki (who had about 15kBP) so I could ask for help in the match-up, but he lost 3-1. He just sort of gave up teleport after I punished it once. =(
I’d definitely use my unstoppable DeeJay. =D
I missed this ealier. If I was rating Ibuki player who I’ve played on these boards, you’d be… 4th best. =)
A girl.
Asking for a date.
In arcades.
I call for fake.
This.
Pics or gtfo.
Maybe he’s dating Kayane
4th is a number i can live with haha. thx for the compliment.
sorry i ditched out last night, was gonna play some games but it was really much later than i shouldve been up already. had class the next morning and all that.
I love how this is a somehow something majorly special. Mingo I’ll talk to you over MSN next week k?
Oh no that’s fine, another time always.
GGs KawoXD! Next time we should continue with the Makoto vs. Ibuki stuff.
Critique time!
I played with eMRaistlin yesterday, a pretty good Cammy (and he’s also known for being a very good Theory Fighter specialist lol, he made tons of tutorials). We finished with something like 7 - 3 for him, and I picked one of my losses to show you guys:

PS: I love the Quick spin knuckle’s hitbox at the beginning Oo
oh, and it was 3 AM and I was starting to be sleepy, so you’ll see how bad is my execution (missed kunais -__- )
Second match, Ibuki v Seth. The guy was also good, although I happen to ay on a regular basis against the best Seth in France. But still, this video shows how nonsense this matchup is, it’s basically “first down looses” (and I hate Seth’s command throw btw). But… It’s fun!
