Exactly, you don’t have to time it as you can just mash.
I hate mashing so much that I prefer just doing it once ^^ which is why I started by trying LK Kazegiri.
But specials in Street Fighter 4 can be done before the first active frame and it will buffer in, giving you frames of leniency. LK to HK Kazegiri is a 4-frame difference in start-up, you have about +30 frames to input the Kazegiri making it easier than any BnB.
Not entirely sure about that. Sure the reversal window is huge, but outside of that, I believe specials are just links like everything else.
Otherwise, Akuma/E.Ryu’s LK Tatsu , dp would be impossible to fuck up.
Fact is you can mash specials for them to come out on the first active frame, but you can’t do that with links because you’ll miss it.
And you can mash the DP in Tatsu, DP. Try mashing cr.HP after f.HP with Ryu. It’ll basically never work.
There IS a system (and has been for a long time) in SF where you can buffer in a special before needs to come out.
You’re comparing a 3-5f link or so to a 1f link lol.
Either way, my point is you don’t have a ridiculous 30+ frame window to link specials.
I never said all specials do, but st.HK, HK Kazegiri is about 30+ frame-window. Try it. What Damascus is saying that LK Kazegiri is easier is not good advice. Oh btw from playing Iyo I just remembered… HK Kazegiri -> j.LK is something he does often on characters that don’t have 3-frame uppercuts.
I did a bit of testing and where it hits depends on the distance you were before doing the HK Kazegiri. Interesting note, if you do a Tsumuji Loop on Ibuki into HK Kazegiri, the j.LK will be blocked on the same side AND as a cross-up (so it’s an un-unblockable?).
Maybe there’s an actual Unblockable somewhere. But it’s pretty ambiguous on people who quick-stand as you can mix it up with MK/HK Kasumi Gake too.
EDIT: It’s an un-unblockable after a Tsumuji Loop on most of the cast, but interestingly enough if you change what version of Kazegiri you do it makes your j.LK hit in front more often.
EDIT 2: This set-up is terrible.
Oh it may be because of the Negative Edge, but it feels like Chun-Li’s far.st.HP, HK Super is a lot easier than a 2-frame link.
If you want an un-unblockable which works on a big part of the cast, try for example against Balrog corner EX Tsumuji - HK Kazegiri FADC c.HP - j.LK. The j.LK is un-unblockable, you can block whatever side, you’ll actually block it
You’re supposed to delay the j.LK.
Okay I’m fed up for now.
So here we are again. Still practicing and keep in mind I took a week off to burn through Mass Effect 3 haha.

[details=Spoiler]Alright for this one, (and most of my games at the moment) I’m trying to work on footsies, and playing a little more patient.
I was a little too jumpy this match, mostly cause I’m not too confident with my dashes yet (which I’m working on)
I felt I shut down his air game pretty well, but the online timing for b.mp xx CD, st.hk xx kazegiri is still tough for me.
I know I let off the pressure on him a few times, but at the same time I knew I had the life advantage, and my timing on block strings still lacks…so i figured he’d be more on edge if I made him come to me and took away his shoryuken reversal.
Still getting the hang of my pokes a well. [/details]

[details=Spoiler] this one I failed my AA IMO. And I don’t know the match up to well. I just know to watch out when she is crouched for a second or two. I tried keeping pressure up, (dunno why I walked into her kicks at one point) I tried baiting a special reversal a few times.
When I got her in corner I tried my hardest to pull off the j.lk,j.mk into TC4 xx EX tsumuji xx raida. So much so I stopped paying attention and she came back on me. [/details]
Izuna I’d like to play you again, since this time around I won’t make it quite as easy by jumping in or random NBs. I’d like to get some replays and watch how you get in and keep up pressure!
Thanks in advance for critique an advice!
Ima do a tournament on 31st just for experience since I’m sure I’ll get beasted.
Vid 1, Round 1:
You’re a big fan of doing some random st.RH, and the cr.RH, st.RH TC. Might want to stop doing that for the time being, since you don’t do any strong follow ups to it. You just pull them out, and then jump away, which wastes an opportunity to lay on some close-range pressure. Near the end of the round, you ate a pretty random nj.RH, into EX tatsu that could’ve been easily blocked. To finish the round you did an EX kunai, which won you the round, but I don’t think it was a particularly good use of meter. Since he had already wasted some of his meter, as well as his ultra, you could’ve punished him without using meter, and still would’ve won the round without any serious problems. Oh, and whenever you do get close, you tend the mash out jabs like your life depended on it.
Vid 1, Round 2:
It seems like you get nervous whenever E.Ryu lands a knockdown on you. You tend to want to jump away on wake-up, or do something else, you got hit twice. I’m not really sure why you like jumping away from your opponent when you’re close to them. Ideally, you want to be close to them so that you can get some sort of offense going. Whenever you did a st.mk, you missed a couple of follow ups with it. Whenever you landed a tsumuji, you didn’t do the final low ender to knock them down. I have no idea why you did a jump in RH into Ultra 2, thats a very risky way to hit confirm, luckily the E.Ryu missed his punish. For the follow-up punish you missed your TC, so you might want to practice doing that motion in training mode the next time. You had a nice EX nb to go through his fireball, although I wasn’t sure if it was reaction or if you just anticipated.
Vid 2:
You did a good job pushing Chun-Li into the corner, but then she got out. Be aware of Chun-Li’s jumps at that point, and get ready to anti-air it. Either a jump throw, or a ground anti-air, or an early jump attack, or something. Chun-Li has pretty limited options to get herself out of that corner, they’re most likely either a jump, or that jump-behind-the-head move that she did. Some more craziness goes on, but you tend to drop your attack strings in odd places. You walked into her lightning legs attack, not sure why you did that. Good job ending the round though. cr.mk, into st.mk is a fairly effective trap, and it won you the round. Try to resist the urge to do a random nb or EX nb whenever you feel like there’s a lull in a match, or you need to gain some ground. It’s wasteful of meter, and highly punishable. Good job using Ultra 2 to punish her fireball at the end of round 3.
Overall, I’d say you need to clean up the execution of your combos. You have very erratic and unusual attack patterns, most of which aren’t fully effective, try to learn which of your attacks is a true block string, and learn how to utilize more frame traps and baits into your game. You have fairly solid anti-airs, but your defense needs some work. You ate a LOT of jump in attacks that you shouldn’t have. Realize that blocking is probably the most important skill that you need to learn in SF. It’s not very flashy, but learning how to defend against attacks is what will get you the win, not hitting buttons.
Spoiler
Round 1- god I know, that is one of my worst habits(cr.hk, fst.hk), and it’s like my finger won’t just press it once for the knockdown…
I had alot of failed attempts at TC 4 which normally I can get that off pretty well even online, but I was probably getting ahead of myself and pressing to fast.
I do have a habit of jumping away alot, but in these two cases it was because I was having an easier time punishing when they came to me, as opposed to my failed combos. And I couldn’t honestly tell you if the EX was reaction or anticipatory. Maybe a little of both? I KNEW he would throw a fireball out so I was ready to punish it because any time we had space he would throw out a couple. But at the same time I may have gotten too eager and started before I saw his movement…not 100%
And te EX kunai was wasted meter on my part. I was using ex to hit or get the chip win, when she jumped I didn’t alter my plans to at least a normal kunai, just followed through to get the win

Spoiler
i may just play arcade or a few matches online where all I’m going to try an do is block for as long as I can. Learn where when and how to block different attacks. (training helps, but the timing seems so different online, either that or I get to hyped up knowing I’m playing a real person and I psyche myself out)
I practice most of the things in the ibuki guide, still working on slowing the game down in my head so that I’m not mashing 4 jabs instead of just what I need for the combo.
Not sure if the guide mentions what her block strings are, when I re read it I’ll check and concentrate on that.
I’d even say to just stop it.
Are there seriously strong followups to cr.HK st.HK? All of the followups are actually gimmicks/bluffs which lead to a 50:50 situation, so well, I would say there are good followups, but I wouldn’t call them “strong”
I will definitely work on Dropping the habit all together. Thanks
I may get in trouble for this, but Ernest if you send me a PM on SRK I’ll jump on. I don’t have an Xbox set up so it may take me a few minutes.
Her true block-strings are TC4, TC5, TC6, TC9, [st.MK xx LK/EX Tsumuji], [any normal xx Kazegiri]. [cr.LP xx cr.LP], and [cl.st.HK SJC Tsumuji]. I may have missed one or two, but everything else I can think of can be mashed out of.
afaik cr.LK xx LK Tsumuji is not a true-bock string because I’ve used it to start loops even when the cr.LK is blocked.
Depends on the player you’re facing. If it’s blocked, best thing to do is sjc into tsumuji. If it hits, you can sjc dash follow-up, or a do an early jump-kunai to bait out the reversal if they’re that trigger happy with it. Maybe ‘strong’ follow up isn’t the right word, but it’s better than doing no follow-up at all by jumping away from your opponent. Ibuki can’t do a damn thing at full screen distance, no point to putting yourself there, ever.
Geez. Wish I had a way to upload my replays. Apart from using my iPod.
I’m on a PS3; are there any ways to upload my replays other than using a third-party video capture device?
You can record footage with an ipod?
Your best options are to use a cheap capture card, a camcorder, or a phone with recording capability (chances are you have one, or know a friend who has one).
Throws video in your faces
