Haha, maybe, I’m not sure though as I lost to him in the last ranking at this same arcade.
Moreover I don’t feel like having lag problems online when I play against a French dude. Probably because France is like, 1/10th of USA’s surface, moreover most of the population is located around Paris.
I think I played that bagelobo guy once. Seemed like an okay Dhalsim. But I think it was laggy cuz he was from Germany or something? Or maybe that was another Dhalsim I played.
That Gouken looked clueless. After getting raped first round he was like “I don’t give a fuck” and just went crazy on you with random jumps and demon flips everywhere. Had you been more patient in your midrange game, you could have gotten a lot of easy knockdowns almost for free.
You kind of lucked out on the Cammy match. You won all of your games so I dunno why you’re asking for critique. After playing that Cammy guy in a length gachi set (something like 40-50 games) I can probably write a laundry list of things he should/shouldn’t do, and terrible habits he has which any decent player can easily take advantage of.
I will say though that your midrange game still lacks any sort of footsies/reading your opponent, and specifically you keep doing FA before you forward dash in, the signature move of Autopilot Ibukis™ which serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever, except to make you, the Ibuki player, feel safe when randomly dashing in?
This is actually posted in the wrong thread by accident… I wanted it to be in the Ibuki Lobby thread but nvm.
Dhalsim: Yeah he’s good, very good in fact. I’ve only played him three times and I’ve won each time, but I feel lucky every time. I’ve played EMPEROR COW quite a bit in the UK (our best one down here) and if I were to compare them I’d say bagelobo has better reads whereas EMPEROR COW has better reactions. Maybe it’s just the lag.
Gouken: Hmm does it look that way to you? I was SCARED in this match. I’m always fearing the throw and usually that gets me frame-trapped/OS’d to death. At least that’s how it was last time I played Gouken a few months back.
Cammy: That was actually the closest match I had against Jamhally. I uploaded this match because it was clutch/exciting, I didn’t want to upload my cheap Ibuki mirror match tactics nor did I want to upload matches where Jamhally looked clueless.
My Ibuki: Actually yes, I know I look very auto-pilot here. I kind of want to say (as an excuse) that my first games against these guys was more footsie oriented, and when I was confident I played on Autopilot. I was fishing for st.Forward into Hashinsho where it was pointless. But regardless, the focus before dashing in… I don’t know why, I don’t do this when I use Yang do I? vs. Dhalsim I think it’s important to, but otherwise I don’t think it makes any difference and is as you say, pointless.
I also played a bit against Jamhally’s Evil Ryu, which I think suits him a lot more than his Cammy. I would have lost were it Ver.2012.
Btw Tsumuji loops don’t work on Cammy. I would expect an Ibuki veteran like yourself to know by know which characters you can/cannot loop. Even in the Ibuki guide you couldn’t recall off the top of your head which characters are not loopable.
If it helps, just remember that there are exactly 7 characters that cannot be looped, 4 females and 3 males.
Maybe it’s just because I used to play a local Gouken a lot, and he forced me to never let that kind of shit slide. Any and every random demon flip must go punished. And when he’s pressuring you, I think I got familiarized with the spacing to see whether he’s in range for a throw or is going to do cr.MP xx fireball strings.
For some reason the first few matches I had vs Jamhally were hype, at least for me. I was getting an adrenaline rush for whatever reason. Then that nigga got downloaded and then it was smooth sailing from there as it seemed like he never bothered to adapt. Well I guess he mashed dp less against me.
Ibuki’s FA is good in the Dhalsim matchup, but again, you need to be using it for a reason. If you’re only using it for the split second before you forward dash (which you’re obviously not reacting to any or the absorption of anything), it’ll only be useful for that split second. After that you’re fully vulnerable to anything your opponent throws out. Noobs + online probably won’t be able to punish this habit, but good offline players will. And even if they don’t, you’re basically slowing down your forward dash even more and making it more react-able.
lol there’s a story behind this. I was chatting to another Ibuki player and I was saying that F-Word told me it worked on Cammy. I saw the sheet and noticed that it didn’t, but I wanted to test to make sure. I burst out laughing when it didn’t work.
Lemme see if I can remember… It doesn’t work on T.Hawk (normally), Cammy, Rose, Blanka, C.Viper, Dan… I’m missing two it seems.
I got him in my first game. I think it was around the time we did Ibuki mirrors he started play more reckless for random damage, then it carried over to his Cammy. That’s what you’re seeing when you watch the video.
EDIT: I’ve got many replays of him using Ibuki if you’re interested.
You have 6 characters there. I said 7. 7-6=1. Math fail?
I’m seeing the same kind of Cammy autopilot playstyle as during my initial matches, before I backdashed and punished his random dp’s with st.HP xx dp xx FADC ultra. If it was offline and I could react better, I probably would have gone for sps first. Or maybe I should have just picked U2, since it could double as an antiair for all the times he kept doing EX CStrike as a footsie/get in tool. Nothing says “sit the fuck down” better than a raw ultra to the face.
lol, well technically you can loop T.Hawk so wasn’t sure if you’d count that. I’m trying to remember who the last one is without looking…
I noticed early on that Kasumi Gake set-ups worked very well against him, though that was probably the lag.
Ah, I remember you now. We didn’t do a “FT3” this day, it was a WinnerStaysOn like always. It’s true that you beat me this time, and probably not due to tsumuji loops, but with kunai vortex (I’m sucking about blocking this vortex). It’s true you are better than what you’ve shown on your video but if I can give you some advices, try not to be so repetitive about your game. You always slide at a certain distance (nevermind if it’s unsafe sometimes) and hand-to-hand, you always do mk > tsumuji x2 > mk > tsumuji x3 with low final tsumuji which is pretty predictable.
Last thing, please stop doing EX DP…not that it is forbidden (I am the first to psychic DP xD) but you tend to EX DP when you got meters, not only when you are waking up but during a blockstring too (maybe it’s the main reason I lost, my bad :/).
It’s no trouble reading that someone beat me up “3-0” (it happens all-time) but at the arcades with crowd, joking with friends, not being focused, it’s not fair saying “FT3” like it was a challenge whereas it was only 3 matches.
I’d like to play against you one more time at the arcades seriously in order to learn more about ibuki matchup. And if you want we can go for a real “FT3”, it should be interesting (no matter who wins or loses).
If you want to learn more about dudley, you can add me on xboxlive too, I’ll be pleased to accept and play against some ibuki players!
Don’t care about losing a 7-3 match-up. WinnerStaysOn is a UK Event, just use usual capitalisations when you’re talking about “winner stays on”. You can’t complain about someone taking a set more seriously than you. I actually wonder how you found this old post, did you search your own name?
Ibuki vs Dudley is not 7-3.
I’ll rephrase [7-3] to Ibuki’s best match-up next to Cody.
True, I slide too much I’m working on this!
Yeah I also EX DP maybe a bit too much… Some people even started to call this the “Damascus game”… I’m basically working on punishing any easy-to-see gap with it. It’s sometimes a bit expensive to loose an EX bar but it’d at least help me get out of the constant pressure of certain characters (let’s say Dudley & Cody, with their infinite frame traps I hate so much ^^ ). I actually wanted to force you doing blockstrings instead of frame traps (and it’s unfair that Ryu can do it for free while I have to spend meter for it ^^ ) but seems like you didn’t want to switch to shorter strings . I tried to do this against Cuongster once. I got punished so hard that I think I’ll never DP this guy again
I happen to EX DP on wakeup sometimes, pure sign of nervousness saying that I don’t know what to do right now :-/
And I usually continue this whole “Tsumuji to st.MK to Tsumuji again” thing if you don’t punish me. DP me and I’ll immediately stop. (or just LP ^^). I just like to keep constant pressure (just like you, right?) and will try any gimmick to make it happen
Go for it, I’ll add you on XBL, I suck at the Dudley matchup and I have to learn more! (and to be fair I think that as you said you were just not focused last time we met @ Arcade street, or at least not as fit as the last ranking. But I was just happy to steal some rounds since as far as I remember you always raped me when I happened to meet you on XBL/local ranking )
How did u find this message btw? keyword search? You’re the ninja!
Honestly, I really hope that what I posted earlier doesn’t offend you, I didn’t mean to be offensive, just wanted to share. If so, I’m truly sorry. I honestly don’t care about my wins/losses, I just like to notice if I actually progress or not .
I’m also pretty “young” in the Street Fighter “business” (lol) as I am “seriously” playing since last september only, so I happen to mix words/say stupid things sometimes… Whenever I loose 5 - 3 to a random dude I’d just sum it up to “I lost the FT5”, this is why I said FT3. If it should be more challenge-like I think I will take care of my words next time!
Oh, by the way, just train a bit for countering kunais. Usually a simple backdash (you can add a focus if you want to gain some revenge bar) will be enough to avoid it. Actually I’m honestly still surprised on how many people, even good players like you, still suck at countering kunais while it is just a matter of focus backdash. Probably a lack of matchup knowledge =)
I’ll make sure to show it to you whenever we play on XBL (or at the WGC?)
Last thing, it’s a bit silly to speak to a French dude… in English.
Hope to meet you again at the arcades!
PS: speaking about kunai, I remember a guy at a ranking (a Gief… Onigiri I believe, although I’m not sure) who told me “I can’t believe how many people still get killed by Kunai. You just have to watch them and block in the appropriate direction”. I lol’d. Even Izuna sometimes gets hit by my kunais.
@Izuna: How this matchup could be 7 - 3? Tell me more, I need to know
He simply loses in Footsies, against a character with great Okizeme. Ibuki’s footsies lead to a knockdown. Dudley has poor wake-up options. The only thing that makes him have more chance than Cody is his EX Duck on wake-up making it bad to OS ambiguous set-ups with Ibuki, but you don’t really need them. Dudley needs meter to convert anything into something that puts you in a corner, and outside of the corner his Okizeme doesn’t really start to be great.
He so loses the first round 7-3, second round 6-4. That’s in my opinion, definitely possibly Ibuki’s best match-up. Cody has better footsie tools so he probably has more of a chance, who knows? They’re Ibuki’s best match-ups.
Again, if you watch the replays, I’m auto-piloting a backdash everytime. I never try to block them, and I get hit when my backdash doesn’t come out. =P
Dude, we have to play again. I swear you’ll stop backdashing. I’m working on late kunai throws, I’m surprised how safe&useful they are!
Late kunais are generally safe. Early kunais are not, since you drop sooner and therefore are more susceptible to get hit with an “autocorrect” reversal.
Unless you mean “safe” as in you have enough blockstun after the kunai to start a blockstring.
If you start doing that, I’ll block them and throw you. =) Sure we can play, I’m just in the middle of telling my mate a story so maybe tomorrow. Though I presume this means you’re able to react to a Juggle and punish it right?
Mingo:
If correctly timed, you can LP MP HP xx LK Tsumuji. The main problem is that it’s kinda difficult to time correctly.
Izuna:
That’s what I’m working on. But anyway I’m trying to switch between kunais, normals and empty jumps with this setup to mindfuck my opponent since it’s a bit hard to react to. However I have to try it in match conditions, for now I’ve only trained offline & with my brother (who’s a total punch bag in this game ^^ )
Woo epgkooky! Amazing execution. I want to record that clip of you doing that one brilliant combo but I don’t have the opportunity to. Towards the end you got a bit too defensive. As you said, the only real issue you have is mid-range footsies.
I’m surprised I managed to bring it back with Yang, at first I was ready to accept a 10 lose-streak against your Evil Ryu, but by that point your execution wasn’t doing you favours. I have the scores:
Spoiler
Izuna vs. epgkooky
Ibuki vs. Ibuki lobby one (7-2)
Ibuki vs. Ibuki lobby two (8-3)
[in lobby two I turned my sound on and was also a lot more laggy]
Yang vs. Ibuki (1-0)
Yang vs. Evil Ryu (3-1)
Makoto vs. Evil Ryu (1-0)
Makoto vs. Ryu (1-0)
I think that practicing that Unblockable is a must for the Mirror Match, and if you want to mix-up using EX Kazegiri or backdash to get out of it, at least use a Focus Backdash. Playing against your Evil Ryu really shows that you have a great grasp of zoning, with Ibuki you only require more experience. I want to tell you not to do random Neckbreakers, but they all worked haha, amazing reads.
Worst Habits:[details=Spoiler]
-
Your follow-up to a blocked EX Kazegiri FADC is st.Roundhouse. One time you did a High Jump cancel into Tsumuji which was good, but you stopped going for it. It’s better to always cancel into at least a Kasumi Gake otherwise you’re (-5).
-
You tend to follow-up a Kunai with st.Strong, so even in the corner I could just backdash and punish you with raw Yoroitoshi or EX Kazegiri. If you use st.Jab you can catch my recovery frames.[/details]
Best Habits:[details=Spoiler]
-
You remained unpredictable with your Okizeme with the Kunai alone. In the later games you started to do late Kunai so my backdash turned into forward dashes and it got stuffed.
-
You conserved meter very well and almost every round you were able to do EX Kazegiri FADC.[/details]
Yang vs. Evil Ryu were v.GGs! It’s a shame I have to go! - video coming soon
