Given that netplay is inevitable with the game’s American scene, you may want to look into using Caster’s built-in delay practice mode which can simulate input delay that you would get online. Not sure what was up with your net though.
It’s just Comcast, in an area with 0 competition. We don’t even get FIOS here. 
That Caster practice mode might be helpful though, I’ll give it a try.
its useful to get a feel for delay.
The difference in feel between 0 delay, and even 1-2 delay is pretty big. After playing with delay alot, going back to 0 delay practice mode I start dropping really basic bnb’s. Vice versa when I first started netplay.
I don’t think practicing with higher than 2 delay is useful though. If you can adapt between 0 and 2, you can probably adjust to the other delays on the fly.
1-2 is totally playable. definitely noticeable but doesn’t break the game any.
3 is still decent
4 is a slog
5+ is like playing in molasses, and the game is considerably different.

Yo, when do you guys use D? What’s the advantage over normal double tapping? When should you use D to HJC and/or graze?
D is the same thing but its easier to do triangle grazes if youre using D, i would imagine. [D]84 seems easier than 2844 to me…
There’s a 5f input buffer window when using directionals, which is useful for HJ canceling and reversal grazing.
Most (jp) people use D for airdashing or regular ground dashing, but use directionals for high jumps/high jump cancel.
For example, if you try to wakeup graze with D you’ll probably get hit because it’s a 1F timing to press D on wakeup, but it’s a 5F window with a directional input. But it’s also universally important for HJ canceling (same principal applies). Also if you D7 off nothing you’ll probably backdash or HJ8 instead of 7, where as 2 7 is pretty consistent IMO.

with the amount of directional inputs you’re doing when playing iamp, using D is much easier than double tapping moves so pretty much everyone uses D for everything that can be timed with an ease without the 5f buffer.
I play almost all the characters without using double tapping or 27/28/29 for anything. Only exception is Remi, I use 27 for her string since it’d require 1f to be airtight otherwise.
I dont wanna down Iamp players because I have respect for alot of the people who play it. But Im sure alot of the people who play Iamp dont play Virtua fighter in a high level play environment. Though I do agree it has more US players. To say its deeper than VF is =\
To say VF is deeper than IaMP is just as much “=”. To say any game is deeper than another is “=”, whether it actually is deeper or not. And mostly because the majority of FG players have entirely different subjective opinions of what depth actually is.
I completely agree with you to a degree anyway, But ill leave it at that.
