@XLCowBoy: If you think devoted VF players are elitist… lol, just you wait.
I wish there was an animal whose mating call was the sound “Doooooouuuuche.”
Here’s why it was chosen
VF5 was the only fighting game on the 360 at the time, other then DOA4, and WCG had a contract with microsoft to use 360’s.
Still doesn’t explain why SC4 or SF4 weren’t chosen for this year. Both were options on their poll.
Even the VF players here would have rather had either since those would at least have more potential to be exciting. No one really wants to play an outdated version of the game anymore.
SF4/SC4 don’t care enough to vote their games in. VF5 players have this and nothing else. This is their Evo. For everyone else, this is like an anime con tourney.
Also, WCG is known for having weird char bans (Gouken/Seth were going to be banned in SF4 for example)
no they weren’t… Arturo played Seth against Justin’s Abel in the finals in that WCG Fighter Club event:
if they were to choose the most elite/skilled/niche FPS out there… it would’ve been Quake Live (Quake3). only FPS newbs don’t know any better and think CS is the most hardcore game out there (lol).
WCG is known to pick crappy titles (hello Carom3D, hello Guitar Hero, hello mobile games!) for their eSports farse. so any considerations for skill/competitiveness/balance in their lineup is merely imaginary.
So the entire VF community is elitist and that is why people don’t like them? Yet VF was at EVO 03, 04, and 07? For such a hated game and community I’m shocked that SRK would even allow people to play VF in the BYOC area at EVO.
You think VF fans are the only people who favor their game more than others. Have you seen the 3S vs ST debates? Or SF vs KOF? Or GG vs BB? Or 2D vs 3D? Or SC vs Tekken? I mean come on, you think that the VF community is the sole community to rate their game higher than other games?
And why shouldn’t we slam other games for not being as deep as Virtua Fighter? Especially when we have topics like this, created for the sole purpose of bashing Virtua Fighter, propping up on sites like SRK.
So VF has been at EVO three times, there are tons of old members of SRK and VFDC that play both SF and VF games, but when some idiot who has never played VF before creates a topic basically saying “VF sucks compared to my favorite games and my games should be at WCG!” that the VF community is supposed to lie down and take it?
What is your join date at VFDC? Mine is May of 2003. You’ve been playing Akira for 14 years right? Surely you have an account registered 1999 at VFDC? Or maybe some 1999 year log at #vfhome? Or maybe you are some ‘Johnny-Come-Lately’ who has never played high or even mid level Virtua Fighter and you’ve only recently joined SRK/VFDC within the last year.
well i mean actually they would have picked quakeworld if they were going by your criteria which is nice because +back railing for the whole game is pretty boring
Why are there all sorts of questions about VF and threads about VF now?
WHERE WERE YOU PEOPLE WHEN VF WAS AT EVO? OR WHEN THE GAME WAS RELEASED?
:bgrin: haha yo wcg 2010 is in LA get hyped!!
incidentally i agree with you… QW is amazing
Yeah, but the OP didn’t say anything close to that.
Just to add some random baseless hate for funsies, what’s going to be the next game very few people play because the majority don’t find it entertaining that we can call the “deepest fighter ever” without ever being called out on it?
This thread was to bash VF? I didn’t see any bashing. I saw the bashing of the WCG, but not VF.
And I don’t understand the point of the VFDC question. Are you saying that, for somebody to have played and enjoyed a game for a good amount of time, they need to be an active member of that game’s forum for proof?
…seriously?
This tournament was 2 months after the console release. WCG noticed some other tournies at that time were banning boss characters so they figured they would do the same. I convinced them a week before the tourney that it would be okay to unban them.
WCG went into the shitter in 06. Used to be amazing but not anymore.
that shit looks horrible, nice show:chat:
I have to say whenever people make claims that x game is the most sophisticated/difficult/deep fighter, it seems to be VF much more often than other games. That’s purely anecdotal of course, so take that for what its worth. It doesn’t really bother me either. VF seems like a cool game.
hi5
it’s a shame that there is basically no north american scene for it
I’m calling you a liar and a joke. You haven’t been playing VF for 14 years. You probably have very little understanding of high or even mid level VF. Have you ever been to a VF event? Did you go to EVO 2003, 2004, or 2007? How about NYG? WCG? Anything VF related?
You say that you love VF as much as anyone else at SRK or VFDC and that you’ve been playing the game for 14 years? Yet you’ve never been to a single VF related event ever. You think you love VF as much as someone like Myke or Ice-9 or Reno? You don’t even have a basic understanding of the system of Virtua Fighter. You’re some kid who recently registered to various fighting game sites because of SFIV or T6BR and you have the same ridiculous claim of “I’ve been lurking for over a decade but only recently joined” that every other new member has.
Yeah, sure, you really have been playing VF for 14 years but only recently did you come out of hiding to join SRK/VFDC.
I have been a fan of the series since 1995, when I first played the first game. I was eight years old. My favorite character was Pai.
I’ve played and loved every subsequent Virtua Fighter(sans the third due to family-related problems), and have switched since then from Pai to Vanessa. It was not until 2008 that I heard of VFDC and joined it.
This means one of two things.
- My nigh-lifelong fandom of the series is insignificant because I didn’t join an internet forum.
- You’re a snotty, stuck-up elitist bastard who gives the Virtua Fighter community a bad name every time you draw breath.
Which do you think?
