There’s fatalities in guilty gear?
i think hes referring too instant kill… that scrub
Do you not even get what the majority of mvc2 haters are getting at? people are talking about the low tier characters as POINT characters! not assist. I am tired of mvc2 fans saying that a particular character is great because of how great that chars assists is. Once and for all people are not talking about how great the assists are, rather they are talking about them being as point characters. get back to me when you beat justin with guile as a point characters against his magneto or another top tier. then we’ll talk.
If you’re asking if SBCBS fall into a “definitive top-tier,” then yes. If you’re asking if they’re unbeatable, then no, contrary to the scrub banter that makes up about 80% of this site. There’s a very large upper mid-tier that can counter at least 3 of the 5 top-tiers, followed by mid-tiers consisting of around 10 characters, and a low-tier with 5 or less that are still playable, just not popular.
Yeah, King’s very good if you can RC everything she’s got, plus she’s got some nice juggles but I’ve never heard anything good about her in any groove except A.
Thanks Kat, that’s helpful.
As for MvC2 hating, I’m not an MvC2 hater, I just present what I know and ask when I don’t. I don’t play MvC2 competitively, in fact the last time I played someone I think was 8 months to almost a year ago against GosBroDansFan at his house. I tried to develope a team with Colossus (super armor to do the big damage), Thanos(bubble containment and time buyer for Colossus’s powerup), and Cammy (for battery).

but the game was sorta designed to consider assists as a big part of a character’s stregnths. i mean you can say “ignore their assist power and only consider their point power”… but it just doesnt make sense, ya know? And thats why the mvc2 fans ignore that shit. it just doesnt make sense for this game. if all the top tier assists could be used as top tier point chars too it would take out the strategy in forming teams, which is a BIG part of the game. do you want to sacrifice point power for assist power, or not? I mean thats part of what makes the game good and unique. The assist chars will still see action and still affect the way the team is played both against and with… so they DO mix things up.
to balance the point abilities youd also have to balance the assist abilities or itd just be stupid, and then we’d have a WHOLE DIFFERENT GAME on our hands that doesnt have the same “team” feel.
wanna count up the number of playable TEAMS in mvc2?
Playable teams would be interesting, but everytime you have a duplicate character to make up another team you have kinda subtract 1/3.
Matt
heheh yeah tru
Matt: what do you mean?
Gouki: I beat Rowtron killing two characters with Tron on point. LOLLEROMGNOTPOSSIBLE4CHARACTERSROFFLES!!!1one
As for teams, you have to understand that even character order has serious impact on how the team plays. Mag/Cable/Sent is an efficient rushdown team that builds meter well for cable, and relies on cable w/ rp for midgame lockdown, and has the possibility to bust out sentinel for comebacks or the endgame. Played Sent/Cable/Mag it’s a team for stopping people who play Mag on point, MSP, MST, etc. Sentinel can use Cable as an AAA, and Mag-a in fastfly combos for big damage.
In a similar vein, look at the differences between Sent/Storm/Capcom (team Santhrax) and Storm/Sent/Capcom. Sent/Storm/Capcom relies on a solid Sent.com to take care of early threats, and then storm can be brought in to run the hell away once you have a lead. Played the other way around, the goal is to kill a character early via storm/sent DHC, then use the advantages of Sent.com vs aggression when the opponent tries to make up the difference. That changes my strategies as well, as I normally play Doom/Cable/Tron… but if they start sentinel I’ll play Cable on point, and if I don’t kill Sent I’m in a major hole, as both Doom and Tron have problems against good Sentinels. If Storm gets started, my goal is to kill her with a Doom aircombo DHCed into HVB, so that I can have Cable guardbreak when Sent falls in, and Cable/Doom to handle sent’s shit.
My mistake, was referring to instant kills. Whenever I see them I just always think of fatalities because of the way they look. I don’t even play the game.
Scrub? I love how people could say whatever they want and no proof to back it up. lol
:encore:  for the internet!!

you apparantly are a guilty gear scrub if you couldn’t tell the difference between the fatality and the instant kill.
there’s your proof.
good job for not noticing
lol i can’t be a scrub at a game that i don’t play. Also if I was a scrub WHY WOULD I go to NEC this SAT and tournaments through out the year. I thought scrubs didn’t want to learn the game and only complained about tactics in various games. Yeah Im a scrub that DOESN’T complain about tick throws in ST, DOESN’T complain about V-ism in A3, DOESN’T complain about unblockables in 3S. I FUCKING ROLL CANCEL bitch. Don’t scrubs hate RC’ing cuz its broken? Get your shit right next time.
Sav
still dont get the point do you?
well if you played guilty gear u will be a scrub.
:lame: did i talk anout ST or A3 or 3s no so stop your whining
Greatest response ever.

Sav
wat u cant read??
Obviously you can’t read if you didn’t see what he said. Calling someone a scrub over their oppinion that a instant kill can be compared to a fatality is just scrubby itself. Only people who think they know how to play games and want to get attention flame stupid shit like this on forums, why don’t you learn how to play Guilty Gear scrubbbbbbbbb.
Thank You and just to tell you i dont think it was an opinion cuz a fatality is definatly not an instant kill.
“There’s blood and in someways fatalites in GGXX” is what he said, the basis of an instant kill could be taken from fatalitys because of the popularity fatalities have. The second part of the statement is oppinion by him using “in someways”, Archetype plays in a part of the US where #r is played alot I am sure he is somewhat familiar with the game.
Wow that’s some really good info on Teams JALbert,I’m trying to get a better grip at the game (I think I’m 'round mid level, no scrub, but only taking lucky wins against good players), and I hadn’t realized all this shit.
I’m mostly playing Team Z and Scrub (Cable/CapCom/Doom right?) but I have some really bad times with Sent lockdowns and Magz defense breakers, could you give me any advice?
And yes, this is offtopic, but I think the topic is boooring. I never liked how everybody in the mk games seemed to have the same normals, and I felt that was some important stuff missing from the games (never got serious because of that).
