Doom provided it himself.
I had difficulty too. You have to TK (tiger knee) it by doing the following input;

ah! thank you…that makes sense
What are your assists?
Characters like Hawkeye are meant to be easily opened up by teleporters, otherwise they’d just completely dominate the game. (Why do you think Cable dominated in early MvC2?)
At this point it comes to baiting teleports and punishing accordingly, but this isn’t easy. Thankfully for us Hawkeye players, Clint has dem tools.
Step 1.) The Bait
So you might be getting exposed by guys reaction teleporting to your triple arrows or scatter shots. These don’t have the greatest recovery so if you’re throwing out a M Scatter Shot you’ll probably straight get punished by dudes with a fast teleport. If you start noticing that these teleports are being done on reaction to your arrows (or general movement) here’s what you can do:
F+M (Shock Value) - Not only does this have less recovery than any of Clint’s special, it also covers the space directly in front of him. This will help in botching attack attempts from the front. Since it recovers so much faster, you may more easily get away without fear of being punished. I still don’t think this is the best bait, however.
My favorite bait; canceling his standing fierce with S. Your opponents are probably trained to teleport when they see Hawkeye whip into his shooting stance, and since you can simply cancel his normal charged arrows with standing S with almost no recovery, this makes for the perfect bait.
Step 2.) ???
Step 3.) Profit!
Since you’ll be standing in front of them, free to move, the choice is yours. I feel that what you do should mostly depend on the character you’re against, but my my favorite option is to do a standing M (because it has awesome range and since it has no directional input, it will basically auto-correct) into slide, because by this time you’ll know which side they’re on, and depending on whether or not you were able to hit confirm the first two attacks, either launch them or Trick Shot L or H to safety.
I find this works best against guys with set teleports like Vergil, Strange, or Dormammu. Wesker’s teleport is a little more unpredictable and Dante? Oh Dante.
Just jump up and grab his ass. He only teleports to one location.
Hope that helps! If you need me to clarify anything, just ask.
Can someone tell me how to otg > super in the corner with Hawkeye? Out of the corner, I can easily do Trick Maneuver H into Violet Fizz or Ice Breaker and then Gimlet. In the corner, that doesn’t seem to work. What is the solution?!
How do you guys deal with a captain america who covers his charging stars with an assist? My friends been abusing that shit and I don’t know what to do with hawkeye anymore.
I usually do a short backdash into Trick Shot L - Ice Breaker. Or you can kinda hold up-back during the last launch and you’ll float backwards, allowing you to just Trick Shot L when you hit the ground.
It’s probably a really hard match-up, because he can Charging Star/Hyper Charging Star your stuff on reaction. My best advice is to be super patient, try to bait something, super jump over him and try to punish with a Gimlet. Good luck.
sigh, was hoping that wasn’t the case, but thanks for the tip, I do get really careless sometimes against his cap, plus he has storm in the back so his dhc’s burn by gonorrhea.
Cap has no air options so take advantage of that. I don’t have frame data but I can tell you Steve is scary up close with his cr.:l: not much can beat it. Cap can’t punish from extreme long range, or at least not very well. It really is hard to handle, even I occasionally use this tactic, not much zoning can beat it except be patient. Have you tried Clint’ slide, I don’t know if it has good hit priority or if it goes under beams. If not try to be up close on Steve and try to punish the assist. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help I haven’t played any matches nor have I seen that tactic beaten yet.
Has anyone found a use for Shock Value besides the novelties? it grinds my gears when I don’t know WHY a move or feature is in the game. They obviously put alot of time into the animation and utility (+0 on hit, really?). What is it for!?
I use it to supplement Clint’s otherwise lacking mid-range game. If it comes into contact with anyone or goes max range it successfully blocks off that little bit of real estate that he has such a hard time controlling. And it’s only -1 on block so it’s a lot safer than his Quick Shot moves.
So has anyone figured out how much dmg poison arrow does? sorry if it’s burried in here somewhere. It seems like the dmg may not really be worth it and ur better off using a stronger shot.
It does 90,000 UNSCALED damage.
Totally worth it.
I just got back from a gaming session with a few of my friends, and I did pretty well with Hawkeye. The only question I have is I had a tremendously hard time against Wolverine, and I had a hard time punishing him effectively. My team right now is Hawk/Task/Skrull and Wolverine really tore Hawk up because I had a hard time keeping him off of me, and when he was on me all of the trades seemed pretty lopsided in his favor. I ended up switching to taskmaster because I found it really hard to hurt Wolverine without meter. Any thoughts?
Well I don’t get how wolvie was even getting in on you when you have hawk and task together, hawkeye can cover pretty much every single angle of approach wolvie attempts to take, and since his berserker slash isn’t invincible anymore he has to actually work to get in now. If you do a st. :h:, assist call(taskmaster) and then cover w/e angle the taskmaster assist doesn’t cover you should be good. Just don’t fall into a rythm, I have a bad habit of doing that sometimes and become predictable and lose two characters as a result.
One way or another he is gonna eat a substantial amount of chip damage before he gets in, so when you finally get a hit you won’t need too much to kill him. God you don’t understand how much I enjoy blasting him in the face when he tries to berserker slash me. Im like “NAH BITCH, DENIED!!!”. Seriously though, its your classic match-up where it should be hard for him to get in, but once he gets in you just gotta rely on standard defense since hawkeye doesn’t have any exceptional buttons up close.
Hey guys i got a quick question, i’ve seen myself abusing the hit box on J.H a lot and i was wondering if you guys are doing the same, its a great air to air and it catches people who are trying to rush you down while you keep them away and then you suddenly meet them with it. I’m not a hawkeye main so i haven’t been putting to much focus on him so i wanted to know if this was a good idea or a bad habit.
j:h:: Good for air to air
j.:s:: Good for air to ground I would think.
I use it for that purpose as well, it’s also great for snatching Vajira assist out of the air.
j.H is broken lol.
Does anyone know if exploding arrow hits overhead?
I wont be able to check today but if it is then anyone running clint as an anchor could possibly setup an exploding arrow => xfactor cancel => slide to possibly set up an unblockable?
Jack Rose does hit overhead though I haven’t been able to get that unblockable to work. You may wanna try yourself, but it doesn’t look possible to me.
ill play around with it later tonight and see what I can come up with, I was just brainstorming and figured id check it out here. Im running him on point though, too fun of a character to put as an anchor imo
