I forgot all about that! I think Zazz mentioned somewhere that it does as much damage as a Jab SPD. (As shown in you link) So, FYI, I used the YBH throw info.
New question 04/29/08
I did not realize that Guile’s air throw did so much damage, that definitely surprises me most. I guess it’s because I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone use it in ST… maybe ever, whereas I have seen a few Cammy air throws, and it always stuck with me how damaging they were. And yeah, for the ground throws, Chun’s strong throw does 25% life. Try it against an opponent without him teching, you’ll be able to kill him in 4 throws every time. I think jab spd does this much or a little more, but the effect is the same, 4 hits and you’re done. It’s so retarded that Chun’s strong throw kills in as many hits as any spd, I really hope they change that in SFHD. Anyway.
Honda against Gief, almost always strong slaps. Honda against Hawk, heh, usually one of down-back or jump back. With Gief against Gief, totally depends on my opponent and what we’ve done before, but default is neutral jumping immediate roundhouse, although block, stand there, and low roundhouse come in sometimes too. Gief against Hawk, usually walk forward a little bit or stand there and then see what to do, throw out a poke or something.
Well the reason for that is that its only the backbreaker airthrow that does the ridiculous damage, and as far as I’m aware it has reduced range compared to his fierce/strong regular airthrow.
Wow to all of this. I didn’t know about some of it and just forgot about the rest. This whole time I went on thinking that SPD was the game’s most-damaging throw, just beacuse, well, it’s frickin Zangief! How could it not be?!! Oh god I’m melting aaaah… :wasted:
(playing as a very scrubby Ryu)
Zangief: backwards jumping hurricane kick for run-away, because he has THE MOST DAMAGING THROW IN THE GAME!!! :looney:
T.Hawk: nothing, wait for him to make the first move, because I feel more in control when I’m reacting to him than when he’s reacting to me
Sometimes people make weird and funny nicknames for the moves in this game. A few, like FeiLong’s “Chicken Wing,” have even passed into standard use. Most of them are far less than universal, though, and here are some of my pet nicknames…
…
FeiLong’s punch throw = Ant Throw. You know how they say an ant can lift 10 times its body weight or whatever? That’s what this throw always reminds me of. He flips them using his arms with the greatest of ease, not even using his back or legs to hurl them. It’s like he has superhuman strength or something, and it always looked odd to me.
FeiLong’s kick throw = Hair Pull Throw. Fei really got some weird throws in this game.
FeiLong’s cr.MP = Kneecap Nightmare. Weird stab to the opponent’s patella? Too funny, and deserving of a weird and funny name. Bonus points if you use it while shouting random nonsense like, “Take out the KNEES, that’s the key!!”
Blanka’s j.LP/MP = Beer Mug or Beer Can. He holds his curled-up hand out for a long time, almost as if he’s holding something. For some reason we just always pretended he had a frosty brew.
Blanka’s s.far LK = Wait, That Anklet! If you ever played SF2 Turbo on the SNES and saw Blanka’s ending, you might remember how they had to trim out some of the graphics. The portrait where his mom is supposed to point to his anklet and deliver that line got replaced by the attack sprite where Blanka sticks his foot out. Now whenever someone uses this move in a match, I stop and think, “…That anklet!”
Honda’s d…u+P = Naked! Pretty self-explanatory. 'Cause it totally sounds like that’s what he says. Again, bonus style points if you shout the name while actually doing it.
…
I have many, many more, but I won’t bore you for now. What are some of your funny move nicknames?
HAHA, “pet” move names is a great topic. I’ll throw one into the hat!
Honda’s Ochio throw = Pancake. Ochio is already a cool name, but I suppose this one caught on because Honda just lays them out and flattens them. As you mentioned above, this one gets really fun when you start yelling it. “He tried to throw your HONDA?!?! Pancake!” You never want to be eating repeated ticks into Ochio in the corner especially when your opponent is screaming PANCAKE! right in your face.

We call Ryu’s st. mk when used as an anti-air the “Daniel-san Kick” in Seattle, if you’ve seen it cleanly smack someone out of their jump in you’ll understand.
Deejay cr RH=ass grinder. Really look at that move, his tailbone should be shattered by round 2.
I <3 pet names for moves.
lol@ Blanka jump jab. Beer can xD
Speaking of DeeJay, we haven’t given it a pet name yet, but a friend once commented on how weird his j.LP would look if you were to try it in real life. Here’s a few more that we do have names for:
Blanka’s j.HK = Work Those Abs. Looks like he’s doing sit-ups or something, all stretched out and with his hands above his head.
Blanka’s cr.LP = Scratching Post. Got an itch? He can help you with that.
Blanka’s super = The Bowling Ball. Not only because it rolls along the ground, but because the opponent gets blasted aside like a bowling pin when you score a chip KO with it. We call that outcome a Strike. Conversely, if the opponent manages to jump it and combo you on the way down, that’s a Gutter Ball.
Dhalsim cr.close LK = Athlete’s Foot. This weird foot attack just had to have its own name. Boom! Tough-actin’ Tinactin.
Dhalsim’s s.far LP = Give Me $5 or Lincoln. He puts his hand out, palm-up, and we always interpreted this as him asking for money. We later made the variant name Lincoln (the president on the $5 bill). You can also use this as a verb: “I Lincoln’d his jump-in.”
We’ve always called Dee Jay’s low RH “scabs”. Can you imagine what his back looks like after one fight? Pretty self-explainitory-

Back in '92, us kids were all divided how to call the Guile kick. Razor Kick, Jack Knife, Flash kick… I lobbied for Sonic Kick

Hahah@ the Blanka Ankle kick; that move really has little use other than reminding us of his ending
boxer’s MP/strong color (bright yellow with safety orange gloves) is traffic cone boxer to me, safety balrog to my buddy mugenmidget (some of you have seen him in super sundays a few days ago)
and when honda’s super hits the opponent square on but still doesn’t knock down… i just like to call that bullshit
but on the other hand honda’s ochio is the source of his flab rage so it’s all good
This guy is to funny
I always lovingly reffer to Gief’s jumping neutral fierce as his coffee cup punch !
Kinda like he is saying in his dum ass Russian voice “I just had my coffee cup a second ago”
Chun standing strong=Hand of Baby Geezus
Deejay crouch strong=Toe Basher
Blanka Slide=Back Scratcher
Hundred Hand Slap=Lonely Tuesday Nite
I also refer to this one as “Pulling the Lever”…
On Zangief’s stage, there’s that lever on the right side of the screen. We used to joke that Blanka could pull it to:
- enter a secret stage or
- get a life-time supply of anklets.
Illustration:

= ???
I can confirm that when you do it, it brings you to the secret stage where you fight Gouken (master of Ryu and Ken). :amazed:
HAHAHAHAHA Post of the year !!!
ROFL! Avatared!
