So I just broke 1 mil with this simple tweak to the Ramza combo. After rising sun ,:h: helm breaker, OTG ASSIST(dante crystal)+ dash, throw round trip, :d::h:, judgement cut :l:(hold), :d::h:xx stingerxx trick m, :s:,:h:, round trip, :d::h:xx judgement cut :l:, :d::h:xx spiral swords(hold l), lunar phase, roundtrip, :d::h:xx judgment cut l, :d::h:xx spiral swords (repeat lunar phase loop) and after judgement cut lunar phase, high time, slash dimensions.
1 METER to start! You build the meter for spiral swords 1 and dimension slash during the combo. Works on littles (x23 tested) med(ryu tested) and bigs (hulk and doom tested)
Speaking of dante crystal otg into round trip. Does it work for you guys 100% of the time? I have a bit of a hatd time connecting it consistently, but it’s probably just me not having it down yet. What’s the exact timing you use on helmet breaker -> assist call -> dash -> round trip -> cr. H?
I actually find myself pausing between the dash and round trip a lot longer than I expected too. When I hear Vergil say “come on” I dash, and when I see Dante lift his arm for the otg I release round trip. Also for the following :d::h: I tend to have to wait a brief moment before inputting it as the opponent is a bit higher than you think they are from the crystal + round trip
^ This combo is the new standard without assists, right? If so, I need some help.
I start the combo off with c.L, c.M, c.H, stinger instead of what he did. I immediately start charging round trip with M when I teleport(I do not let go of it). I then do the H S H combo and release, but for some reason the round trip is never charged. Am I doing something wrong here? Should I charge with a different button?
Try charging with L when you hit the c.L or when you perform the Stinger, rather than waiting to charge when you teleport. You might need a lil extra charge time than what you’re getting.
So between working on Ramaz’s style of combos and toying around with the “safety” of using J.2H to fish for things since you can cancel on wiffs, i found a great way to convert anytime you catch someone with a J.2H. Here’s the notation:
J.2:h:, (be charging round trip by now) OTG :a1:, :h:, Stinger, M Trick, :h:, :s:, :h:, round trip, 2:h:, :qcf::l:, xx :dp: :atk: :atk:, (charge round trip), :dp: , slight delay then release round trip, 2:h:, :qcf::l:, xx :dp: :atk: :atk:, :dp: , slight delay then release round trip, 2:h:, :dp: , OTG 3:h:, xx :qcf: :atk: :atk: (if you have a 3rd bar built or they aren’t dead already).
For 2 bars you lose a net of about 0.4ish meter and you’ll do right around 860k and have a reset. For 3 bars you lose aboug 1.4 net meter and with a well mashed dimension slash can get 1.05 million.
Not too shabby for converting off a random air move with good spacing. You can also do Ramza’s regular combo, I just prefer doing 2 spiral swords into lunar phase since i find it more consistent.
So is lunar phase the best option while Spiral Swords is up?? I’m having issues with it cause small characters tend to pop out right before the final hit.
Hitting the spacing on lunar phase when you use spiral swords takes some time and practice to learn the spacing and timing. There’s so many situations that you just have to get the feel for it. The good thing is if you happen to drop it early during spiral swords you basically get a free mixup since you can just teleport back to them.
I have a question for you guys who have been playing Vergil so far since release. Lately I’ve been trying to implement Blistering Swords in my gameplay but literally cannot find a use for it (I think I used it once to chip someone out for fun but that’s about it). Is this move almost useless when you consider it takes two bars? Especially when Sword Storm/Dunce Cap is so much better anyways for the same cost?
As for the Lunar Phase after Spiral Swords…I think someone already mentioned it but just crouch after the super so they drop a little lower then do the Lunar Phase(s). Seems to help me at least.
To help wit lunar phase consistency I literally input the DP slow enough so Vergil actually moves slightly forward and crouches just before the attack comes out. It does help a lot.
Blistering swords is really just something I do if one char died while spiral swords is still around and im waiting for the next char to jump out. I use it for pressure/ combo breaker if the next char is tricky like Wesker.
Its for zoning and pressure purposes. I figured that using hidden missiles I can protect Doom wiith judgment cuts and Helm breaker if they get too close all while charging a rouind trip… to get in and mix up. If the opponent is already 1/3rd of a screen distance in, judgment cut M and release your charge so you can safely utilize an L if you need it. Also, As soon as all missiles are on screen coming down, I have my other assist, (Dante Jam Session) for a four way mixup on teleports and doom is already available for otg’s if I land a hit.
Ahh alright guess I’ll just play around with it some more and try crouching. I have this nasty setup with Doom using Hidden Missiles. It does 640k+ at the end of Spiral Swords and I still have a wall bounce AND a ground bounce. I can’t go further than that though cause the last hit of lunar phase keeps whiffing though =(
I know you guys have been asking for it and I apologize I just finished most of my finals however so im gonna go ahead and get started on editing the OP. Expect it to be complete by tomorrow night at the latest.
I sympathize with you man. I’ve been working on university stuff 3-4 hours a day, and haven’t had time to play the game. Can’t wait to see what your updates are. If you could organize them by practicality or assists needed that’d be great.
I like Ramza’s loop for optimized damage on the Spiral swords, but what’s the “retard easy, impossible to drop, universal (on all chars)” sword loop? Ramza’s is not *that *hard but the last cr.H into LP is tight, especially on smaller characters.
