As a frenchman I loled so much. Always thought that but I wondered if it was because english is not my mother tongue.
Are there any known compatibility issues with Supercade and, say, Windows 7. Similar to how you’re told to play Windows XP GGPO as opposed to Windows 7 because of the emulation issues Final Burn Alpha has running on Windows 7 compared to Windows XP.
Having GGPO as the entry point for most people new to p2p emulation is bad. As a demo for game developers to try out the netcode, which is the intention, it’s fine, but for a p2p gaming service, too many people will give up against the barrage of bugs and spam, never to try again thinking that all home-made free to play services are just as shoddy, which is not the case.
Corrosive, i use windows 7 and have no problems. If your computer is relatively weak, it’s a good idea to disable Aero theme.
Thanks, damdai. I’ll try it tonight. Though my main issue is more internet connection and packet loss, I’m thinking I’d like to eliminate the buggy GGPO side of the equation. Mainly because I want to see if it’s my internet connection in conjunction with GGPO or just GGPO in general. There’s a good guy who I’ve been playing that teaches me a lot, but half the time the game just feels like shit when I’m playing on GGPO as of late.
A bad connection is a bad connection, but a number of people I’ve played with on both, including steve tren (50ms), grog (80ms), and painkiller (150ms), all report better performance on supercade. The problem is GGPO has the support of SRK, plus the publicity of some capcom press releases, so it’s the first thing people hear about and try when it comes to this sort of thing. I’m just afraid a lot of potential players are lost because they are turned off by the unnecessary difficulties.
GGPO IS an unnecessary difficulty. Last night when I played, every time i tired to chat with the guy i’m playing, it would freeze up and break the game. it never connects on the first try anymore. I’m just sick of it. period.
I’ll have to give this new Supercade a shot
I recently played moocus and he was complaining of input lag.
I can’t feel any difference from ggpo, so I dunno. He did miss a lot of spds so maybe there is something?
Wait, complaining about input lag on Supercade or on GGPO?
Just be grateful I don’t go George Will on you (not that I have the vocabulary to do so even if I wanted). I actually write down the first thought that comes to mind, hence why my unedited posts are usually cluttered streams of consciousness instead of paragons of grammatical clarity.
Anyway, next time folks are trying to play and GGPO is experiencing “that time of the week,” that’s a perfect chance to see for yourself how Supercase performs. Get your online ST fix on anytime.
Glad to hear it. Supercade has always been better all-around than GGPO anyway, hopefully your improvements will see more players migrate to it, now.
Just got done playing a Seikou and I gotta say, the game feels great again. Been spreading the word to those I know.
To fix that if you type and nothing shows up, immediately right click the screen once and it’ll not freeze. This is what I do at least. I hate that shit.
Trying it out right now.
Plays like a dream.
I need help getting supercade to work on my pc. i opened the port for tcp, am i suppose to open it for udp as well? it starts the window and says connecting to player. then it just stays there for ever. i have all the roms already too.
Yep, I even think udp is the only one required. But do open tcp as well. Supercade just NEVER does what ggpo does : it always connects on the first try, so if it doesn’t connect, something with your router / firewall / roms (you do have them all) / folder is wrong.
yeah, its my router. I gotta figure out how to open that port.
What kind of router are you using? Brand of router that is.
2wire, the dsl/router ATT gives you with their DSL. and behind that is a netgear.
