I Got Next | A Documentary on the Fighting Game Scene

Love the documentary.

I don’t know if it’s just me but when I was watching the SD version, some of the colors seemed messed up and some of the scenes are way too dark. Probably just my TV tho.

This documentary could benefit from extra footage more player interviews

It was good but the lack of actual gameplay really turned me off. I watched it hoping to see some fights not the reaction of the crowd but I heard that its not done yet.

Hey guys, I want to thank everyone again for checking out the film, coming on here and giving me all this great feedback whether it be positive or negative, it helps to know what everyone thought so I can better shape the film going forward. The comments about the short cut and the Evo material have been great so far, thanks.

I’m getting close to finishing up the project, and if anyone was considering donating, or would like to donate, I’ve set up a kickstarter page to look for funding, because honestly it’s getting to the point where I can no longer fund it on my own. So please spread the word, the film is close to completion, your donations and contributions will make it happen. Thanks again to everyone who has donated already, I couldn’t have got this far without you guys. Like it says on Kickstarter, anyone who had previously donated gets the backer rewards (DVD, t-shirt, etc).

Here are some new interviews if anyone is interested:

I just pledged $25.

FIRST!

Good luck man!

If everyone just threw in like $10 or so, I’m sure you could hit the deadline and this thing would be a go.

And if you don’t make the amount by the date, it doesn’t charge us anything…so this seems like a win-win.

$25 for the DVD w extras (especially if there is a blooper reel) is totally worth it.

Why does the t-shirt have to be $75! :frowning: I’m going to pledge when I get paid.

Thanks a lot man, yeah 5 or 25 here and there will go a long way if the community really gets behind it. I wrote up a post on what you guys can expect from updates in the future: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iancofino/i-got-next-a-documentary-on-the-fighting-game-sce/posts

Similar to what you see on my youtube page, except extended, more frequent.

Sorry about that man, the reason for that is you have to give levels for each pledge. Because everything is a pledge, it’s not cost effective on my part, if I’m trying to raise money, to give away a t-shirt, and a DVD with a 25 or 35 dollar pledge. Basically what starts to happen is I lose half the money I get with each pledge, so instead of getting 35, I get 17 dollars, because I’m giving it away in merchandise.

So if you are interested in the t-shirt, look for them on the website down the road, I can’t promise anything, but hopefully I’ll be able to offer merchandise and other stuff if people are interested and there are no legal issues…

(Regarding the update just posted via link above).

Oh man…It would crack me up to see LI Joe playing DDR all SRSBSNS.

Bring that shit on!

Pledged

Thanks V!

Yeah he is a maniac, you have no idea until you see it! haha.

I would pledge 3k easy if I had the money. Let me see how my expenses round out for this month and I’ll definately put some money up. It seems I got time. Looking forward to the final project.

Do you have a pic of the shirt Ian? I’m gonna pledge something either way but want to see what it looked like

Nice to hear from you, Ian. A few questions.

(1) I assume the free shipping only covers domestic shipping. You do have fans outside the U. S., after all.

At the meagre price of $25, the shipping fee would likely equal the price of the DVD itself. So how would the transportation work for non-American benefactors?with the egoistical motive of acquiring the DVD?

(2) Any chance of a Blu-ray version? I don?t know what quality you shot it in, but I am sure that there are others beside myself who are interested?and who wouldn?t mind coughing up some more money in order to get it.

Perhaps you could also throw in some Amazon affiliate links for Street Fighter IV, be it the game (collector?s or not) or the FightSticks, which I am sure that people here need to buy at some point, being in this kind of community. When I get my FightStick Tournament Edition, I?ll get it from Amazon.co.uk, as they have the best price by far (pardon the inadvertent advertizing), and as I am sure that the staff on the forum support your project, it sounds like a good idea. It?s not like you are losing anything by seizing that chance. Perhaps the guys at SRK?and other sites?will do you one up and mention your predicament on the front page.

No matter what, best of luck.

That’s a good point actually. I did the 25$ for the dvd but I’m in Canada…

Next paycheck (this friday) you’re going to get something from me boss, thanks for making it all happen

Ditto

second this.

Few questions - will the DVD have the bonus footage of matches / misc stuff that you’re going to give donators access to?

And on the special thanks will you put our name or just a big thanks to all who donated?

Once the full cut is out, will people still be able to download it for free?

I’ma donate, right now it’s just a matter of how much. Mc’donald’s hasn’t been the most solid employer in terms of hours lately…

I contributed. That was easy… I might spill some more money down the road before the deadline.

Damn, I need to donate more money RIGHT now!!! This shit is awesome. SF is life!
