I Got Next | A Documentary on the Fighting Game Scene

I Got Next is out on Hulu!

Hey guys,

Over the last two years I’ve been putting together a documentary on the fighting game community. Here is some more info I took from the write up on the site (http://www.igotnextmovie.com):

I Got Next is a documentary on the fighting video game scene created by Ian Cofino (with much support from my friends, professors, and family). It originally started as my senior project at Purchase College, School of Art and Design, and has grown into something much bigger thanks to the dedicated and passionate players in the community. Originally envisioned as a free short documentary, I Got Next has grown into a feature length production, which will see two releases, a short cut which premiered June 26th on ufrag.tv and a feature length cut TBD.

I Got Next has found a distributor!

Nice! Can’t wait to see how this turns out. Is the longer cut gonna include footage from Evo?

Incredible. Cannot wait for the full release!

Sounds really cool, I’ll be checking it out as soon as I can get my hands on it.

Also, really liked the trailer, you did good with it. Invest in some clip-on mics I’d say though, haha. Or avoid windy areas lulz ;3

this is going to be the new era’s “bang the machine”

the trailer was pretty hype! cant wait for the full release.

Yeah, Ian has pretty much been to like, every major that I’ve been to and managed to interview me for this documentary at Sinsation. I think this movie will be this generation’s version of Bang the Machine and will more than likely top it.

The trailer itself is top notch and is pretty much a 5 out of 5. Much props to him for taking on a project of this magnitude since it’s never really easy to be around fighting game players. We’re a loud bunch.

A fighting game documentary that I can actually watch?!

Good stuff man, goooooooood stuff. I’ll be patiently waiting for this one.

This seems awesome. Gonna make my friends watch it with me when it’s released.

same here:smile:

Oh shit, this looks incredi-hype. That trailer has me sold, I’d put down cash to see this right now. I wish you the best of luck with this thing.

That trailer was mad hype yo! This is gonna be good!

Btw what was that trumpet song that was playing during?

This looks damn amazing. Definitely looking forward to seeing the full version. I’d also like to know the trumpet song btw.

Holy shit, gootecks in the first shot right there looks damn well intimidating. Nice angle + shadow effect!

Looking forward to this.

And…I’ve just seen the trailer like 5 times in a row.

Fucking awesome trailer…

Can’t wait.

This trailer got me freaking HYPED! I’ve recently been really getting to film-making and editing and this is quality stuff!!! Everything from the music, to the editing, to the (FINALLY) well lit player interviews, it all matched the hype perfectly. The effects you did for each player’s name were sexy as hell (I just wish Mike Ross had one)!

One thing though. Is this documentary going to have a lot of footage before Final Round? It’d be interesting to see how players from both coasts prepared for Final Round, their thoughts before going in, their lives outside of SF, etc.

Damn Son, this shit is going to be great! Let the hype begin!!!

Edit: That song is “Junior Kickstart” by The Go! Team, great fucking band!

Damn! Looks hype as shit! Can’t wait to watch it.

This

movie

looks

fucking

awesome!

Thanks everyone for your positive feedback so far, it helps a lot to know that you guys like the way it looks.

Yeah hopefully, if everything works out, the longer cut will have footage from Evo and tournaments leading up to it and after.

Thanks! The music in the trailer is:

The Go! Team - Junior Kickstart
Anamanaguchi - Sting Operation

Hey thanks man, I’m glad you liked all that stuff. It’s good to see that you appreciated the different components, since I’m the only person working on the project I’ve got to try and keep track of all that stuff. Originally I had a player animation for Mike and Marn, which got cut in the final trailer due to time constraints.

As for the footage pre-final round: I have footage from NEC, and Sinsation, and lots of other footage from different venues and arcades, but unfortunately, because I’m just one college student, I do not have the time, the money or the crew to coordinate a documentary where I’m following the lives of Joe, Justin, Ryan and any other players around as the train for events like FR and Evo. But I do agree it’s really important to see the players lives outside of Street Fighter, and I hope to capture that too.

Wow, this is incredible.
Shivers down your spine type shit.
Blu Ray Edition please, will cop no matter the cost.
