I can't do it... :(

Amen!

ok, i didnt feel like going on this long diatribe of why everything is the way it is and why i dont give a rats ass about buying a hard drive for a system i pretty much LOATHE (or maybe i should say i just hate being charged for XBL in general when i could be playing PS3 online for free) but here goes. i was never really a 360 fighting gamer. Ive had a 60gb PS3 since launch day and unfortunately it got the YLOD. i dont have the money to pay for a slim, and to be honest, i DONT WANT A SLIM. i like that i can play PS2 games on it and that i could use any kind of memory device i wanted or plug in 4 usb devices in it. Its why i have a PS3 fight stick and every sort of fighter on it from HDR to Arcana Heart 3 and Super IV. but now its dead and i am playing on a 360 that is NOT MINE. so whatever upgrades or crap it needs im not in charge of that and wont put up money to be in charge of it. But now i wont be playing much 360 because my wired 360 controller’s right analog stick is malfunctioning, so im going to move up a dual modding project i had for my PS3 fightstick TE (the second version that came up with Super IV) and use that as the 360 PCB so i can play Skullgirls the way it was meant to be played on it.

let me repeat myself. i WOULD NOT be playing Skullgirls on 360 if i had a choice. i WOULD NOT (and dont) pay for XBL if i can help it. so anything about me being stubborn or unwilling to do what people think is an easy buy is mostly because the system im playing on is NOT MINE, and because i do not have much of a choice on what system i play it on…till the PC version comes out anyway.

ok dude

Then why are you complaining to us?

Game works fine on my 360 slim, I’ve maybe gotten slowdown like once or twice…must be a problem with your 360.

Ummm no, this is not something to do with my particular drive. The loading issues are common to all 360 users. Which i believe is not present at all on PS3.

And please…this game is nowhere near detailed enough in 2D to somehow push the 360, or the FAST loading ability of computer Hard Drive tech, to its utmost limits. Its not like the PS3 is dramatically that much more powerful than the 360 either.

Its a lousy programming issue that needs to be patched with a future release.

The 360’s ability to use flash memory is good, i did for a while with no issues. Depending on the class speeds, it can be nearly as fast as HDD also. Too bad its limited to 16GB.

And somebody does not know how to shop around for deals. Got my 120GB Western Digital 360 drive for $40 with free shipping

The point is that issue has been shown to be more prevalent with a slower drive or storage system (lol USB).

We already know that the game streams art assets from the HDD in play. Art assets that are not only twice the normal resolution in game, but that are not plain flat sprites. Regular, flattened sprites are memory intensive enough, Skullgirls uses a unique layered system, the “sprites” have a separate color, shading layer as well as a depth map for the dynamic lighting. If we base the size of the assets from the size of layered Photoshop documents, we’re possibly looking a hundreds of megabytes of art data being streamed, let along processed. Mike is basically making these consoles do things that they weren’t designed for.

Don’t see why you would concern yourself with such a detail, when the horrendous load times are prevalent among all 360 users. Not just that rare percentage that uses flash storage.

So the PS3 is somehow THAT much more ahead of the curve? I think not.

The team needs to step its game up. 360 can’t be blamed for poor programming.

Because I believe it’s already been acknowledged by Mike.

Different architectures. For all we know, there’s a bottleneck somewhere in the 360 that’s normally not seen with a normal 3D game. I mean, face it, no other game does its art assets like Skullgirls does. The fact that there does seem to be something related to the storage means that that’s likely to be the primary culprit.

Again i say, who cares? The vast majority don’t use flash storage. And its not like there are a few million 360 owners out there who crap quality HDDs either.

The problem is the game, not the storage.

Even other 2D games don’t present such a dramatic pause in gameplay. You’re saying skullgirls is somehow like 8-12 times more intensive than any other 2D fighter?

Overwhelming not only the 360 but the fast seek times of HDD as well?

Someone has a very high opinion of this game…

So you’re saying that Mike is a liar?

Yes, because no other 2D game uses sprites at approx. 2160p (Mike has confirmed that the art assets are double the size the games resolution). Layered sprites mind you, not you usual flat bitmaps. Sprites with a separate color and shading layer on top of a depth map requiring the engine to colour the sprite itself in real time.

You do realize that Mike has confirmed that once a character is off screen, they’re flushed from memory outside of their assist. He’s also confirmed that the reason that the game does not have Team Hyper Combos is because both consoles couldn’t handle it.

2160p sprites, why the hell does anything need to be that big & detailed?

Sounds like the team got a little too big for its own s**t, and went overboard with everything. They clearly didn’t program with the consoles in mind then.

Please, oh wise guru of programming, why don’t you sweep on over and help out the poor, pathetic people who CLEARLY can’t make a video game…

… or just shut up. That last option might be harder for you. That said, you’ve gone off into territory where we could easily ban you for a week to a month, so we’d be happy to help you shut up if you like.

Lol i find it funny some people complain like a child while they don’t have the minimun require to play this game at his best condition. This game require an proper hard drive on 360 and a good connection for the online … this isn’t rocket science

Ive honestly had no problems with running it as long as your ping rating is green. Yellow is tolerable.

i recently discovered you can actually use and old xbox hard drive inside one of the new slim models, simply by unscrewing the hard drive case and taking the drive out, and it slots exactly into the new console.

i reckon you could get one of the old hard drives of a decent size for relatively cheap now as well.

wow michael Z. i cant believe this game doesnt bootstrap itself from assembly once its read from my array of 3.5" floppies inserted in any order

Ban me for bringing up legitimate concerns & criticism about the game? I think not.

Sorry but this game is not yet the zenith of perfection. It does have issues that need to be improved upon first.

Nope, but I’ll certainly ban you for being a complete asshole about it.

Really, you’re entitled to your own opinion, and you’re welcome to express it, but you’re not entitled to acting like a douche when expressing it. This is not a democracy, you do not have freedom of speech here.

Oh, so you’ve seen the code? If so, then how was it? If not, then shut up.
