How does Tron/Morrigan/Phoenix sound to ya’ll? Morry with the meter building assist btw.
I was experimenting with that team earlier. I would do a tron drill loop (m xx h drill) and on the second m(m+a1) i would morry assist for extra meter. I think if your quick enough you could also do it with the gustaff loop (m XX f.M (jc) j.m j.m j.h) on the second rep(m+a1). I’m also 99% the loop meter build would work with the Ammy bloom assist.
The second team I was looking at was Tron/Trish/Phoe. If I need to be offensive with point and try to deal damage I could use the loops and Trish traps to build meter and keep the pressure on. Also if you get Phoe with a Trish trap assist you can create interesting resets example would be instead of tiger kneeing a j.m after a j.s, do a Trish high trap on the way down and a Phoe ground trap. The Trish high trap is also nice for Tron cause if you do it on the start of the second rep of her loops and don’t finish them(i.e. m xx h. drill m+p1) it make them land where you could either start another attack, cmd grab, regular grab or lvl3 grab(not recommended for meter building).
Here’s the Tron’s Loops with meter build annotated better(a1 is your battery, jc is jump cancel)

On Wednesday some top players were messing around in Mvc3, here’s the battle log:

Interesting tidbit:
Here comes the Phoenix bandwagon…
Edit: Poor wolverine mains. People are sheep -_-
I think he means tri-dash Heavy attack aka = tri-dash j.C
Also, I think Dante is not a meter eater, IMO he doesnt need meter. Ive been playing dante/phoenix/magneto, but maybe I could switch magneto for sentinel, IDK, any suggestions?
Phoenix is to hard for people to play.
Bah I planned on picking wolverine up for my spidey team…
Ammy I can see why, the list will def change tho.
It’s gonna default to everyone with a decent tridash being in top 10.
Its up to you really. I mean the game just came out and there’s no need change your team by replacing Mag with sentinel. I think Magneto is a fine partner to Phoenix (although others may disagree)
Edit: @TheDarkPhoenix: Yeah Phoenix’s difficult nature makes her scrub retardant (nearly)
I’ve been trying to test overdrive and see if it extends my combos as Zero, but I haven’t gotten too much more damage than with a regular combo. I was going to test if her other assists work in combos better today. Overdrive outside of combos are pretty fast and can interrupt some things.
Doom missiles are stupid good with Phoenix rushdown. I find that I can keep them in blockstun for a long time. It helps chipping them to death with DPh too.
Also, I’m convinced DPh is anti-Sentinel when they spam Sentinel Force. You can literally spam full-screen projectiles and cancel into Super at any moment.
Tron is the best battery that Phoenix could ask for…imo…
btw we need to get a matchmaking phoenix thread up ~ best way to learn new tricks is to learn from eachother, after all!
As other mentioned, Wesker is decent battery too from what I seen. Can hold his own on point and his quite tricky and decent without too much meter. IDK just played the game.
Maybe Wesker/Morrigan/Phoenix?
Everyone got alot of experimenting to do. Alot of combinations to test.
Dark Phoenix lvl3 X-factor should be called Ivan Ooze activate:

Well, I got the game today intending to use Zero / Deadpool /Amaterasu as per my avatar and signature ( which I’m going to edit to add in Phoenix ) but then messing around with Phoenix earlier and absolutely destroying entire teams using Level 3 X-Factor Dark Phoenix was just too much fun, not to mention the inner sadist was laughing with Glee.
The team I have set up is Zero / Deadpool / Phoenix, with Zero and Deadpool being generally used to build up meter while Phoenix remains unused until both Zero and Deadpool are dead. I admit I’ve only being mashing with Phoenix ( I’m sort of new to the Vs series ) but I’d let to go into the lab and see what she has to offer apart from Dark Phoenix.
I can also say that even has normal Phoenix, her hypers still do a lot of damage. Some might think its lame but Phoenix is pretty well balanced, low health, most players who are currently use her end up crippling their other 2 characters to build meter but the payoff is huge, sort of like SSFIV Akuma only on a much larger scale!
Starting to think sent has absolutely nothing he can do against a runaway phoenix spamming TK homing shots… literally… nothing. And you’ve no reason to stop tossing them… you could tele above his head and dive kick in… his sprite gets crossed up bananas… but why bother… just TK shot til he’s dead or switched out. Sound lame as fuck? Fuck you sent…lol Spent years playing marvel 2 and fighting you in terrible ass matchups using low tier… now its your turn bitch…lmao
Sent is a boss but he can be zoned out alot more and he can be rushed down.
Helps he has a huge ass hitbox.
So, I’ve been finishing off the various mission modes, and Phoenix’s 8th will simply not “complete” even though I’ve literally done it twelve times now. I’ve checked, and double-checked to make sure I’m not missing any moves and I’m not. The only thing that I can think of that I’m doing different is that I’m hitting :d::h::h: for her dive instead of just :d::h:. If you only hit :h: once, Iron Man always resets in the air before ever getting into crouching :h: range 100% of the time. Has anyone bothered with doing these?
Inputs in this game also seem “random”, or there are specific frames in each move that can be cancelled and they aren’t consistent through each normal. I know there’s not supposed to be shortcuts, but it doesn’t feel anything at all like the older SF2 games, and it feels like I’m playing SF4 Seth with literally every character.
That’s the team I’ve been using. I usually run trish first with tronne’s fire assist, cause the fire assist is REALLY good.
I haven’t 100% decided on assists yet. For tronne’s sake, Trish’s hopscotch might be the best (i need to experiment), tronne is def fire assist, but I’m thinking Phoenix with the trap is probably way better than TK shot…
Interesting thing with c.B/2B. When done with a forward dash (or down forward tri-jump) and it hits the opponent (blocking or not), she crosses over to the other side but it doesn’t work in the corner. Don’t know how useful this is but it’s there. Maybe B or C teleport afterwards into mix-up? Or from full screen away throw a C fireball, B teleport to go behind them, dash c.B crosses over to the other side, C teleport above and do j.C for an overhead attempt while the fireball covers you.
Only thing I can tell youis watch the move list countdown as you do them in the missions. If the moves don’t countdown as you do them, then you either missing something or not doing something. That eight mission isn’t that complicated. Are you tigerkneeing the TK shot into Phoenix Inferno at the end?
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
I been doing a lot of labbing since I got the game. I’m gonna run with Dante/Morrigan/Jean for now.
Weird thing I noticed. When you teleport while in Flight, when you reappear, you’re still in Flight. So when you reappear, your moves are all air moves.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying in his best Dark Phoenix voice:
tch tch tch How clumsy…
Like I said, I checked multiple times to make sure I wasn’t missing any moves, and yes, I’m getting the OTG (TK) TK Shot into the hyper. The game is simply not registering that I’ve completed the combo and I’ve completed it over twelve times now. The ONLY thing different is that the list says to hit :d::h:, but that’s 100% impossible to combo. You have to hit :h: a second time so that the dive hits twice and puts Iron Man within crouching :h: range, otherwise he just air recovers each time.
I have the same impression as well. She can lame out sooooooooo many characters it isn’t even funny. Between her traps and super jump homing shots, there isn’t shit most characters can do. And yes, fuck Sent.
Do any of you guys even bother with assists when using normal Phoenix? It occurred to me that I don’t even use my teammate’s assists at all. Homing shot + teleport & traps are so good by themselves that I don’t even think about calling assists. Plus I’m super jumping alot anyway.
