I only play one or two games casually (Vampire Savior on GGPO mainly), so admittedly my skills aren’t tops. I pray to God that I will not be one of THOSE Phoenix players.
I would love to see a vid of someone building meter and RTSDing like a straight muthafuckah with healing field. Marn got close but didn’t really do it.

Phoenix looks like a solid character all-around. I’m thinking of using her as my point character (I know its dumb, but i’ve seen Phoenix dominate even without DPM.)
Of course I would need tons of practice beforehand…

That said though, I hope to eventually formulate a method of getting her as a point too, but I do know it’s not going to be easy. Her zoning and tele rushdown does seem like their are certain opponents you can probably field her as point against, but probably not all of them.
Only reason why I play Phoenix on point is to tag her out during a combo and have Sent finish up with the air combo xx super, I’ll do that the first chance I get after playing keep away. Certain matchups won’t work, as soon as I saw I was playing against a Arthur/Sent team I switched her out immediately. It’s stupid how how assists have invincibility when they’re out too, you have to immediately go after them. If I know I have a lead or it’s a stalemate, I’ll use XFactor to take out an assist. If I know it’ll come down to the wire, I’ll save it for DPh mode. The only time I’ll ever play my opponents game is when Phoenix has a bad starting matchup.
Yeah. I’ve been waiting a while for good Phoenix gameplay, but everyone either wastes two good characters to build meter, or beats someone who can’t play well. Gimmicky doesn’t begin to describe it. Any character can kill another character with five meters; so unless someone plans on taking out two or three characters with Dark Phoenix it’s not really worth it to wait for her.
Just play solid with the another two characters. Eventually, you’ll reach 5 bars - while damaging the other team, Tasky, Wesker, Dante and a lot of other chars can hold their own with solid meterless damage.
DPh, imo, is clearly worth the full meter. She is that good.
Im playing Magneto/Dante/Phoenix. 2 awesome characters that build tons of meter for phoenix. also 2 good assists for her in case she gets tagged in (disruptor and jam session).
man phoenix rushdown is good, but her zoning/runaway is INSANE, you can literally stand at the other side throwing proyectiles and setting traps and then run to the other side when/if they get too close; that + assist jam session/disruptor is beyond ridiculous.
EDIT: has anyone noticed that her cr.B crosses up the opp after it hits???

Thread: I think Phoenix can teleport infinitely, as long as you input the buttons correctly. My friend did 15 teleports before he fucked up. Also, Dark Phoenix in lvl 3 XFC can literally build 2 meters in one combo.
This is going to be the longest day ever. I’m actually trying to take leave tomorrow so I can play/lab MvC3 for 5 days straight.

Anyway, i’ve been looking through this thread and there were a lot of trolls in this thread. In fact, Phoenix’s thread has the largest amount of posts, and 25% of them (at least) have been purely trolls. Worse still, I expect to see a lot of players jump on the Phoenix bandwagon.

Broken in a good way. DPh is a beast - but beatable, although it may be kinda hard to do, depending of the character that you’re using.
Most of the Phoenix gameplay I’ve seen so far has pretty much revolved around not using her at all until you have 5 bars and your other characters are dead. Seems pretty inefficient to me. Seems like it would be more efficient to get those 5 bars as quickly as possible then bring her in so your other characters can use meter and so you don’t have to limit your team to a 2-person show as much.
