I can't control it! - The Phoenix Thread

Before or after the super flash? That’s a big deal, anyway. That means her teleport is Spiral fast. That combined with TK Overdrive going through projectile means keepaway suddenly means way less to her, I’d imagine.

I was able to get a poke in vs hailstorm midscreen.

I will check vs storms back to the corner tomorrow.

Got to play around with her last night for like 8 hours. Crazy ass damage from this broad. As many have said, really terrible idea to put her on point. Her keep away game is ridiculous. I was just super jumping doing the air Heavy projectile (the one that tracks) and it was really hard for people to get around that.

I was using modok on point and just laming out trying to build meter and run away. She seems like a lot of fun, but man if you get combo’ed once you’re dead.

Not sure if its been posted, but…

Dark Phoenix with level 3 X-Factor owning the whole team…

I just posted this on a different forum lol. Phoenix is beasting it. She’ll be a pain in the ass to work with, but very well worth it imo.

Not sure if this was already known or I just seeing things run but it looks like Level 3 XFactor DPh does chip on other Xfactor’d characters too.

You see Storm block the first hit and still take chip damage.

She is soooo gross people. So fun. Her movement options are simply rediculous.

I run X-23/Phoenix/Morrigan and the unblockable setups with Phoenix are unfair. You TP in above them and then use her Burn Out Beak. Thats the command normal d+C to dive right into them and start a short string, like cr.A, cr.B. If it hits, I just combo. If they block, I call x right after the blocked cr.B and cancel into the air teleport and hit S when I appear. The mid air S ends up acting like an instand overhead and hits simultaneously with x-23’s low assist.

In general, if you are having a string blocked, you can just instantly cancel with the teleport that puts you above them, and then air dash up and away, and then fly and get away.

You can lay the her Trap A and Trap B, jump, throw Shot C (the homing one). Then with the shot as cover you tp behind them and you either combo them into the traps, or if they hit buttons, you can block and Advancing guard them into the traps. She is just…wow.

And to be clear…I am TERRIBLE. If I am coming up with this stuff, I can’t wait to see what the good players are going to do.

I had to do a double take to see if that’s real, I still can’t believe once you get someone in corner with Dark Phoenix that’s pretty much game either the opponent will get really lucky such as in the NerdJosh/Marn Series or minute she comes in the other team will run away hard, until the X-Factor goes away now I see why they gave her Healing Field and that teleport to prevent people from running from her.

I wanna know about teleporting to avoid the Hailstorm, because that’s who I see going to be doing the most chip so could somebody enlighten me on that?

Just played my first online match. Was getting trashed by a decent Wesker player. Wesker/Iron Man/Dante. He was wrecking my X-23, I did a very little bit of damage with Morrigan and got her killed. Phoenix had nearly died as an assist, but barely lived. Phoenix comes in with 5 bars and a SLIVER of life, gets hit and goes Dark Phoenix. Sadly, I had burnt x-factor on morrigan because Phoneix had so little health I actually thought she had been KO’d.

I then happily reverse OCV’d his entire full health team with DPh. Comfortably.

The Phoenix Army will be mighty indeed friends!

i got to play Phoenix for the first time yesterday and I was very impressed. I know it will take a lot of work and I need to find a good team to go with her, but she is so fun to play. Looking forward to see what people can do with her in the next few months

Just saying, when I have 5 bars. I play a bit more aggressive and I do a lot better when I’m zoning. Better to play it safe, but DPh is so good, activate Healing Field first chance you get and spam her normals.

On average health characters like c.america that combo only does 437.200

how about this combo I came up with?

cr.A, cr.B, st.C, f+C, B TK overdrive, j.C, land, j.C, j.f+C, j.down C. land, S, jump. j.b, j.b A tk shot xx phoenix rage:

494.400 on c.america. if you have a better combo please post it, we need to come out with good phoenix combos to put people on BLAST

Do you guys know how Phoenix’s assists change when she becomes Dark Phoenix? I want to see if I can use DPhoenix assists in a keepaway team. They would have to be really amazing, because It seems like you would need a meter assist to get five bars reliably BEFORE all of your teammates were dead.

Wait, I thought damage was universal? Unless you confusing his combo for a regular Phoenix combo instead of a DPh combo?

uhmm well yeah, but that combo definitely does NOT do 782,300 damage, he says is a regular bnb no x-factor so…

also the combo he mentions cant be done on DPh mode, her little projectiles get in the way.

So far the only way I found to play her is to do it around the idea of DPh, period lol. I like to start off with Sent, morrigan meter assist. Gives me solid damage up front and survivability. Though I may switch out of Sent for now, simply because the competition I play with normally has figured out how to beat him lol.

thought i was crazy when i did the combo but it def does not do that much damage

I obviously don’t know how you play (or your competition), but I don’t think Sent is your problem. I think Morrigan’s meter assist is the problem. Get an assist that complements your Sent somehow. If he is getting rushed down then use Morrigan’s AA. If you need extra shit on the screen then use her soul fist. And/or try putting Morrigan on point and use her rushdown in conjunction with drones assist.

This is why I think meter building assists won’t be a great idea for Phoenix teams. You sacrifice better assist that could be used to help your other two team mates, who have a very important role. You don’t want them getting bodied before building that meter.

^ true

also, you want to team phoenix with chars that dont use that much meter. Im currently playing Magneto/Dante/Phoenix. mags and dante dont really need meter and can do hella tons of resets to build meter.

Yeah to universal damage or what? And no need for the attitude. Don’t have the game yet, thus why I’m asking for clarification. Not challenging your opinion.
