aww shucks, ma bad.
love the sound of that
Yo DevilJin, thanks for testing her out…that sounds so great !! I was wondering how the phoenix wing move gets powered up in dark mode…if what you say is accurate, thats going to be pretty awesome. and 25% chip off her powered up fire spiral thing? my goodness…upload some vids when you get a chance!!
Yeah if i can bring my camera if i play again tonight ill record some random shit. The nice thing to note about X Factored D.Phoenix also is that her health doesn’t drain until the X Factor ends. So that’s literally 15 to 20 seconds that your health will stay intact minus actually getting hit. Oh and yeah when D.Phoenix its activated she creates a force around her that pushes you away like Gill’s ressurrection. Which basically allows her to start spamming u with shit for free as soon as she comes out.
I think the key to beating Dark Phoenix is killing Phoenix before she gets 5 meters and possibly finding some way to force the opponent to use X Factor early. If u let a Phoenix player come out with X Factor’d D.Phoenix…u are n deep doo doo. Beating a solid X Factor’d D.Phoenix will probably be one of the game’s hardest challenges.
I can’t tell you how seriously glad I am at hearing this.
Thanks for the impressions! This makes me feel pretty good about my strategy of setting her up wo have meters and x-factor as the last character standing.
Of particular note here is what you have noticed about the properties of her moves in DPh mode. The fact that Phoenix Rush is safe on block during DPh is great. I also read that her normals do chip during DPh and that she can combo off her overhead in DPh too. I am glad that that it doesn’t just enhance her strength but that it actually makes her better in these technical ways that really matter to good players. Sounds like the Phoenix army will not need to hang their heads in shame.
Let us know if you get video! Thanks again!
Jean is broke. Yay.
Thank you for the inputs, DevilJin.
lol, Phoenix Army. Let’s do this.
Ok, Phoenix, Sent, Morrigan done. That is my team. Will put sent on point first, durable enough and dangerous enough to be effective on point. Use Morrigan to help assist the rise to five bars, tag out Sent, stick in Good ole Jean. I think Sent’s drones will be a great assist for her too. Just fill the screen with tons of shit.
A friend of mine got a copy. He kindly tested Jean’s Assists on DPh.
? - TK Shot: Jean summons two projectiles instead of one - and they’re pretty fast. They don’t track, though.
? - TK Overdrive: Damage is the same. Hitbox is slightly larger. And that’s all lol
? - TK Trap: The Phoenix Sigil is way larger, covering a lot more of the space.
To Fenix & DevilJin: I’d love to see if you guys can try some stuff out for me…
- Can you attack/move immediately after DPh activation? Can you possibly combo off of it? Can you air dash?
- Can her mini projectiles from her normals cancel out/beat out other projectiles?
- The Flame pillar that lays on the ground… can you combo into it on the ground? Can you superjump and combo after it hits? Can it suck in assists in too?
- Can you control how long/when the Bird projectile releases?
- Does X-Factored Healing Field completely negate chip damage?
- Can you start a combo, cancel a move into HF, and still complete the same combo? Can you do that with a DHC?
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
My name is The Invincible Swordsman and I’m a member of the Phoenix Army.
If i get a chance to play again tonight or tomorrow I’ll let u know.
Yo foos! There’s another MvC3 stream going on…
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Maybe I’ll get to find out some more stuff for the Phoenix Army.
I wonder if Dark Phoenix can build meter that well.
Believe me, she can. This is the least of her worries.
to me, normal phoenix feels like a godlier version of ken from tvc. better mixup, keepaway tools and better solo combo-ability since she doesn’t need assist to cap out the untech prorate. dark phoenix is like a playable shmup boss, lol.
answers in bold.
People will be like O.O when DPh activates XF and try to run run run.
I am Phoenix. RUN! RUN! I…HUNGER!
Everything sounds great, got a tourney on monday(good thing I’m single XD) where we can also purchase the game, gonna go in blind, but hopefully at least fun will be had
So at 5am today I awoke from my fever dreams of hype with a thought. Forgive me if this has already been theorized and/or dismissed but, if Phoenix or DPh were to tag out after activating Healing Field, would it remain on her until tagged back in like all the other buff abilities in the game? Because if so, TK Overdrive assist would become MUCH more safe and usable. Assuming you were only calling it while close in to your opponent, she would be in HF range the whole time and if she took any damage, even from an HC, it would ALL be red since she is an assist and hence it would ALL be nullified by HF.
Going to a funeral now so I won’t be able to respond till later but…thoughts?
PS: The Phoenix Army rises in 5 more days!!!
Jeez man…um…sorry for your loss and the funeral. I feel like I should be more solemn about this.
Anyway, yeah, in theory that should work. However, there’s still the chance that some supers could kill her outright, I think. So while it helps the situation, I don’t imagine it makes it free. Still, I would not have considered that.
You can block immediately after a Dark Phoenix change, correct? There’s already talk in the Dorm threads about trying to set up combos that will kill Jean twice in one go to avoid all the trouble of her going sun-eater on his ass.
