I can't control it! - The Phoenix Thread

Pheonix Force can’t control its power.

If I’m correct.

So IT can’t control IT.

She is very clearly saying “I”.The phonetic is very clear.

But that’s not worth arguing about honestly. Whatever you hear, you hear.

Guy made a video w/ Marvel character assists including Phoenix of course ~

I laughed when 2 of my characters were lacking the A assist in that list :frowning:

I was already pretty sure I’d only use the Overdrive assist and this cemented it, Trap keeps her out way too long and I doubt shot will be much better.

I hear an “ih” sound…not “eye”.

This is nowhere near what megabuster and megablaster were. =/

Ok look…

#1 She’s saying “I can’t control it!” It does sound like “it” with dead ears, but that is what she’s saying. The “it” sounds like “I” with a grunt just before/as she says “I”.

#2 However in the possibility that she says “It” here would be the explanation…

The ****** writers have continued to make up more and more baffling shit to bring back Jean and the Phoenix Force and the Dark Phoenix over the years.

At 1st, it was just Jean. There was no other entity. Jean merely renamed herself after getting her ship getting exposed to a lot of solar radiation during the flight back from earth from space. Jean had magically reached the ultimate heights of telepathy and telekinesis. There was no “Phoenix Force”. Her powers merely ascended to the ultimate level. If anything, being exposed to all that solar radiation was her “Phoenix Force”.

After a lot of time elapsed, the writers (and the fans) wanted her to come back so they created the “Phoenix Force”. They then said the Phoenix Force was what was running around killing galaxies and then offing herself in front of Scott. What happened was the Phoenix Force became Jean and deposited the “real Jean” in the middle of an ocean somewhere in a cocoon… waiting to be dug up.

This however then brings into question “Well wtf was Dark Phoenix then?” Supposedly, Dark Phoenix was just Phoenix on some kind of evil power trip and wanting to experience different shit.

Then, the whole Madelyne Pryor shit came. Then it was determined that the Phoenix Force tried to seek out Jean and give itself to her, but Jean rejected it and the Phoenix Force went to Madelyne. After Madelyne died, the PF went to Jean again. Jean accepted, but also (somehow) had to accept Madelyne Pryor and Phoenix’s memories (including the DPh shit). Jean took it but gave all shit up because then she had like… Madelyne and Phoenix and her own personality all in her head.

After that I don’t know wth went on and what they did to the PF. BUT… writers are weird and they can create whatever the hell stupid crap they feel like at a certain time to try to make sense. So it’s quite possible that somewhere down the line, the writers decided to make Dark Phoenix and the Phoenix Force two seperate entities.

But based on the past I remember… it would make more sense for her to say “I” instead of “It”

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Now based on the Xmen 90s cartoon? She would STILL be saying “I”.

Overdrive? Is that her “Flame Torpedo”?

Simply put, yes.

Does it really matter?
Its not like this is canon.

Of course it doesn’t.

I only said all that so people would STFU about it.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

So the the part where the bird stays still before it flies off doesn’t hit? Well, that fucking sucks.

I never knew that. Thanks for the history lesson.

I’m still hoping it blocks projectiles…or something. Seth did say her assists blow.

I don’t think I would use her much as an assist character. Definitely try to use her on point, do as much damage as I can, build up to 5 meters and tag out to use other characters using Aerial Rave, using meter sparingly for combos with my other characters. Definitely need to research more from the assist videos we got to see whats a good “GTFO” assist as well as a good projectile cover assist.

I think this character is the new Roll. Keep in mind these things:

1 mistake = Death.

Because of above, you don’t want to use her as an Assist that much in case she gets caught by a random super. Limiting your options to one assist and one character you can tag out until you have level 5.

Why wait for level 5 when you’re up to Level 4 and do a basic combo into KFC for a 100% to take out a point character?

I’m sure some dude is going to find ‘some’ use for her, but it’s not looking good.

Because Dark Phoenix doesn’t take out a point character, she takes out full teams. She also generates insane meter.

Pretty much what Karst said. Phoenix is made to wreck once you commit to getting her to die with 5 bars. And if your opponent doesn’t want to kill Phoenix, they can either try to snap her out or get chipped until they do.

That’s the ONLY problem with Phoenix with 5 bars at the moment; snapback.

I plan on saving Stalking Flare xx XFC Stalking Flare for Dark Phoenix, hahaha. 30% chip on a normal character means death on Phoenix, not even considering the chip from Purification/Dark Hole I can spam during the blockstun.

Yes let’s compare a joke character that was thrown into one game as an afterthought then carried over while retaining 0 offensive options to a character that was made with a specific purpose in a new game that was made from the ground up.

JESUS CHRIST It’s like the closer we get to release the more people grasp at straws and say stupid shit just because they’ve got a keyboard and half a brain. I’m not saying she’ll be good, but ROLL? GTFO.

Vid or *it didn’t happen.

*it didn’t happen = you exaggerating shit to support your faith that a character you’re looking forward to will actually beworth it.

Ironic considering a strong hand doesn’t take out DPh, a gentle wind can.

We’re just assuming based on the way she plays and how easily she breaks (And info from folks), that she’s made to wreck full teams once she gets turned on. Sure there have been cases in the past when they sucked AND couldn’t live for shit, but that was a time when balance wasn’t a concern at all to CAPCOM. Now, it’s a pretty large one; see TvC, SSF4, and soon-to-be MvC3, if expectations can be met.

I don’t plan on playing Phoenix; my current theoryfighter team is Sentinel/Dormammu/Amaterasu. All you have to do is look at the chip her projectiles did to X-23 in the last video she was in, know that she can cover her own advances, and generates absurd levels of meter, and it’s pretty obvious she has the potential to be a team killer. She does damage like she has a permanent level 3 X-Factor on. What would it matter if you saw a video anyway? People would just say the opponent didn’t do what he should have done, etc. etc.

I’m not saying Dark Phoenix is auto-win or anything close, just that she is built to be a game-changer when you get her on the table, a character capable of downing an entire team due to all of her unique abilities and massive damage output.

In the words of Seth: if your match were a gamble, Phoenix is like going “all in”. I’m not even saying she’s an amazing character here, just that she’s high risks with high rewards if you succeed. She is definitely a team killer; not just your enemy’s team, but yours as well if you screw up.

Edit: Another note about Seth; he recently said we still have not seen what Dark Phoenix can “really do”. What we have seen so far is pretty impressive already (which it has to be, for what she costs, of course).
