I can't control it! - The Phoenix Thread

there are assist with with invincible properties

ooooh burnt

Blah, blah, blah. Yes, we know, it looks horrible from a theory fighting standpoint, but the game isn’t even out yet. Sorry, but I want lab time before I call anything a lost cause. You can call it foolish, I’ll call it thorough and tested. That’s the whole reason why I want to keep talking about her lockdown/pressure options.

Now, I’m a little salty, but I hope that didn’t compromise the message, lol. Anyway here’s the salty breakdown of changes I think are needed:

-Dark Phoenix should cost no meters(Healing Sphere and Dark Phoenix just seem counter intuitive, especially at the current five meters needed)

-Galactus level health.

Thanks guys.

youtube and search either Arturo Sanchez MvC1 or Cow vs Tkimura ft10.

This will teach you to save your judgement until the game is released.

I can’t see her being used in tournaments. Unless you are vastly superior to your opponent, which of course will not be the case in tournaments, there is simply TOO much risk having her out or even calling her in for assist.

I can see her being played like specifically for DPh mode, but even then only as an assist since her red life comes back very quickly when she isn’t on screen. But even that is going to require a game plan that you won’t always be able to adhere to. More or less, build to 5 meters, switch her in and do as much damage as possible until she dies, then switch her out and use her for assists as you build more meter to put her back out.

She’ll be fun, and when played right she’ll be a power house, as long as luck is on your side too. Her downside is just to large for her to be winning any majors.

Honestly I hope I am wrong too.

Awful example. Two different games completely. This wasn’t for the whole kit and kaboodle. This guy wasn’t up to beat Justin but more than a few people in this same tournament were, funny you didn’t use those videos.

Even if we were comparing game to game then he got Rufus to about half life every time, considering Phoenix life, that is likely dead or really close to dead. In a addition he landed a jump in more than a few time which could easily have turned into a dead phoenix in one easy combo.

Hey, when you kill an assist, does it usually stay on the ground and blink a couple times before it goes away?

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Or does it just fly away and you hear the death scream?

TBH, you said it wouldn’t be possible to be vastly superior to someone in a tournament, and he showed you someone who was vastly superior to his opponent in a tournament.

It’s obvious what I meant and if you really want to argue semantics do it else where. Yes you can blow through the lower level competition, but you will eventually face someone as good or close enough.

And quite frankly psychojosh more than once did enough damage to have killed a phoenix which just further proves my point. Someone who is vastly inferior to your skills can land a couple shots and send your phoenix packing.

For everyone who is too daft or simply likes to split hairs what I meant was, you aren’t going to get into any major tournament where EVERYONE is vastly inferior skill wise to you. I don’t know about you but most of us are not Justin Wong or Daigo.

So the engines of the two games are only comparable when you need them to be? Don’t know why you’re so defensive. Whatever. Keep shifting dem goal posts.

Strider was pretty mush dead in 1 combo in mvc2, clock still did well with him. With the right team its totally possible for her to be viable. Just wait and see how it plays out before complaining.

Yeah, but Strider was only dead on one combo to god tiers really, more importantly, Storm and Sent, and he counters Sent. He sure as hell had more chance to live than Phoenix does in this game.

Every time I see Phoenix die I want her on my team even more.

Erm, maybe we should actually wait and see who Phoenix counters and doesn’t counter?

Right so he was a counter to Sent while Sent had touch of death on him. Doesn’t that prove the entire point I was making?

Read my previous post about the example again.

“***IF ***we were comparing game to game”

No because Phoenix at this moment, doesn’t counter every single character in the game, while every character has a ToD on her…

Except it seems EVERYONE in the game will have touch of death on her. Both counter picks and non counter picks alike. Assuming of course she has counter picks, which she may not /shrug.

I am not making a hard and fast decision, but I am not going to be optimistic about it. Or can’t rather.
