I can't control it! - The Phoenix Thread

And you can make that claim… how exactly? I’m sure it’s through all your extensive playtesting to know that Wesker’s is faster right?

fixed.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

I love it. I love people thinking she’s not worth the challenge after seeing like 10 seconds of post DPh activation and hardly any normal Phoenix gameplay. Bring it. Just… bring it. does appropriate hand gesture

Citation needed.

Its one extreme or the other here, I was the 1st one to point out how truly her Bad her health actually is and harp on it, but I dont she’s gonna suck. Especially not early mvc3. As the game goes on I think she’ll get worst and worst as people get better and better and use to fighting her. She’ll prob end up like a version of sim/seth mixed.

She’s gonna destroy alot of characters from projectile spam/teleport. Any good phoenix play should totally have his opponent frustrated. Shell get touched… but imo good phoenix players will at least have a one opponents character dead or down to half life, and Dph should take care of the rest before getting peaced.

In the long run those like all game super Low stama characters just dont hang around as consistent tournament characters usually. Maybe phoenix will change it.

You sound extremely optimistic.

Stamina alone, Sentinel / Phoenix would be 8-2 at LEAST.

In DPH mode, her damage is a little above Wesker’s if that helps.

I think Phoenix is the actual reason why Capcom took away strider (they won’t admit that because it would make phoenix look weak)… but think about it. If strider is in the game (and not nurphed hard) what strategy can phoenix have on him? A phoenix/Strider match be a shittier rape match than sent/commando vs doom. Nothing will help phoenix even by 1%.

Phoenix can spam the most damaging and fastest projectiles and can teleport her way for mix ups or working the healing sphere, But that’ll be derailed by strider; all because of his Oroborrus. Jean will not activate healing sphere because it would waste her meter, she needs to be close to the opponent for it to work (and that is suicide against strider). She can’t teleport either, and if she decides to spam those fire birds, eagles or charge strider could just shoot out rings on block and then teleport on her.

Healing spheres will not work

You must be bored.

… yes because Capcom ALWAYS balances their games based on 1 character/Matchup.

seriously stop bitching in every mvc3 thread about Strider/Phoenix and wait till the game comes out.

Idk how her teleport’s motions but I don’t think she can teleport 2 or 3 times in the air.

And from what I hear Albert’s are instant.

And idk what cisco is saying as Doom counters Commando

Im just being real, As long as she isnt point and doesn’t come in on 1-2 bars everything should be golden. Her dropping in second after a character dies is really really bad imo vs alot of the cast more so those with tridashes and teleports. Depending on who I was fighting and the character if I had 2-3 meter I would prob burn 2 to get her in safe and have the spacing advantage. (Remember one touch is all it takes to kill her)

So its gonna be situational to both the player and the characters your fighting with her. bar management and just know what characters you can trap and what players can’t handle or have problems with her is gonna be huge. Really learning to play with her i dont think will be hard, it’ll be more important as a phoenix player to learn to read your opponent and managing bar/assists, and no what situations are really bad for her and you as a player.

Phoenix looks like she will do all the reset for you with just a little time with her.

I’m saying Doom on point vs Sentinel/commando. That equals a raped doom, he would probably need a good angle covering AA assist such as guile or nash to atleast make the rape less bad. Anyway, all i’m saying is that i think strider was cut off the game because of Phoenix. Because if he was in there, phoenix would loose 100%. Unless they nerf him by stripping away his sigged super, oroborrus.

Anyway, i’m this close to shifting my ideal team (the one in my av) to Sentinel/???/Phoenix… probably dormammu, dante, doom, or haggar…

I think it weird you assume a character was removed just to make it easier for another.

It’s weird, but think of it. If strider was in the game and has the same move sets he did in the previous series, how is jean going to fight him? They would have to nurf him by making oroborrus a level 3, decrease his priority, take off rings, or have it muted when in contact with healing sphere. Because the way i know strider (and i’ve played him for 12 years straight), it’s like a match vs an electric fan.

Phoenix only teleports in one direction from what I’ve seen.
I think Wesker murders Phoenix for free with his teleports

I know that the videos we have so far have been mostly demo videos of the characters so they don’t tell the full story, but based on what we know so far, how are Arthur and Chris going to fight Hsien-ko?

I don’t think they are as concerned about 1on1 matchups as you indicate. How does Phoenix fight any character by herself? If it turns out that X character counters her, then her team has to support her against that character or she’s at a disadvantage. I haven’t seen indication that they would hold back a character just because of a single situation.

You haven’t seen much. So how can you make such a baseless statement?

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

 That’s ok. Just keep underestimating her. Even though at this point, you don’t know shit. To say shit like “Sent is 8-2” based off nothing and that someone murders another based off nothing…

Does Phoenix have an AA? Can she hold her fireball, teleport and then release it? What’s her :d::d::hp: move? How the hell does KFC affect her?

Do you know the answer to any of these question? No. You don’t know shit. But I know I’m gonna stick with her.

I think phoenix has tools to take on the cast here regardless of her health. The offensive ability she has is amazing, so i think her strategy should be paired with two high stamina with good damage characters and then coming in when the time is right.

I’m pretty sure you’re right, in her reveal it shows what looks like her health emptying out all the way but she’s still going, plus you still have the red health.

The more I think about it the more convinced I am that Phoenix is here to make up for Strider. She’s going to need to go on point with powerful assists to back her up, she needs to get going before she can take a hit and you’ll have to be stingy with meter, not so you can constantly use a hyper, but to have DP available when she finally takes a 5-hit magic series and dies. I’m telling you, she’s going to end up being Strider with worse health and a 1up.

Theres nothing to underestimate. Two hits of HSF does 40% on her lifebar.

You keep living in your fantasy world where you can “make her work.”

I’m doing tournament play. So my team needs to be solid not some 5 bar gimmick with Servbot health.

I played the game at the Gamespot tournament 2 days ago and I can tell you guys right now that you’re making Wesker’s teleports out to be stronger than they are. They are very fast, but not instant. They’re great for ambiguous movement, not instant crossups. More importantly, they have set distances and DO NOT track the opponent. There are going to be a lot of strategies that will work with Dante or Phoenix that won’t work or become much more difficult with Wesker because of that. Moreover, DP’s teleport looks faster than Wesker’s, but normal Phoenix’s look slower.

That said, the best team for her would probably be something like Sentinel/Phoenix/Morrigan. Because Sentinel and Phoenix can both fly and keep the ground off the screen, they can mask Morrigan’s meter assist while keeping the opponent locked down at range. Sentinel will also be a great assist once DP has dropped in. Don’t knock Morrigan’s meter assist, a guy at the tournament almost won even though he didn’t know anything but mashing hypers because he got like 10 bars a round.
