Honestly though, there’s no way the Thor taunt thing will be more viable for building meter than just having Morrigan be a meter building assist.
im going to enjoy crushing people who think that Thor-taunting is viable as a battery. Enjoy the half a bar of meter you managed to eek out before i killed off one of your characters.The only thing this taunt does is stop characters who are trying to run the clock by getting a life lead and keeping away from Thor. They HAVE to pressure him or else he’ll just get the meter. This changes nothing for anyone whos not trying to run the clock. Just get used to having to pressure the god of thunder.
If you people absolutely need to have a battery, use Morrigan, Amaterasu, or Felicia. Thor is just… ugh. If you wanna play thor, fine, but dont pick him for the TAUNT. lawdy.
I don’t know why people are so scared of not getting enough meter for phoenix. She builds plenty on her own as long as you dont spam healing sphere. Her problem isnt meter, its her HEALTH. This is the other thing that bugs me. Its looking more and more like Phoenix is going to be dying after taking a single bnb, possibly even meterless bnb’s by some characters (haggar, etc). Why the hell are people willing to sacrifice one of their assists, which are valuable tools to keep her from getting hit (and then hitconfirmed into a bnb) just to eek out a small extra amount of meter? It just baffles me. Dark phoenix mode wont do fucking ANYTHING if you don’t stay alive long enough to reach it.
EDIT: I apologize if i sound like an ass. I just don’t understand why people think crap like this is viable.
I hope everyone realises that the real strength of the move is that it forces people to chase Thor.

That depends entirely on Thor’s opponent. If it’s a projectile character then no chasing is needed. People seem to be majorly forgetting that.

Anyway, I won’t be playing her much. Mainly because I don’t have the skill to just NOT get hit. Doesn’t matter what she gets hit with it’s going to freaking hurt and I am not nearly skilled enough to messing around with her.
I mean sure those super elite of us could use her effectively but she is still a gamble. You go to a tournament and you aren’t going to be just fighting scrubs. I know that seems obvious and all, but literally you open her up one time and you can likely DHC her dead with just about anyone.
Important question to test when someone gets their hands on phoenix: Can bubble run out mid-combo/mid-Hyper? If so…well, slowroll your combo if you catch her with a little time left on it. I suspect “no” for hypers but got no clue about combos.

I’m way behind on this kinda stuff, but will it be possible for her to use Healing Field super as a combo extender? i.e. she does a combo like:
ground magic series–>special xx healing field
Is it possible that she’ll recover from healing field fast enough to launch the opponent with E? I think Wolvy can use his speed-up super in a similar fashion, and I’m guessing Arthur can do the same with his power-up armor.
Of course this is all premature guessing, but what’s a character thread without speculation? :looney:

Even if she couldn’t do it by herself I’d imagine a good number of assists would help her with it. Kind of like Strider (don’t say it) comboing into Ouroboros in MvC2

Also, no way is Thor gonna be a better battery than Moriggan, especially since Morgz gives you a second viable point character to melt face with.

I believe that Thor can build at least half bar by taunting just by throwing out Ameterasu ice beads, due to how long the blockstun duration is. He can cancel it at any time, remember.
What I really wanna know is how exactly her healing field works, I wanna know if it can be used whilst pressuring the opponent. I definitely think it can since seth said she was a rushdown character, and that would greatly compliment her rushdown and shitty health. God I can’t wait for this game to come out and see the interesting stuff people come up with.

Confirmed at one of the UK fight clubs by Mr. Stabby that you can cancel it anytime, he cancelled it into a back dash and block.
I think you cancel it with motion not special moves, not that it matters >>
