Isn’t that a conflict of interest when a dude who’s in the tournament is running the tournament?
This is nothing new. Been going on forever.
True but when people aren’t even ashamed enough to avoid showing that kind of stuff on the stream, that’s pretty out there hahaha
False, not that I approve of the stuff that’s being discussed…just saying.
If this really did happen, all I can say is wow…
- this is the kind of thing that players do in the smash community, leave this shady shiet outta Street Fighter etc please!!
 No wonder all the scrubs ride Justin’s dong all day…HE’S ONE OF THEM
There is some hardcore shady shit, and there are some players who are present as “the best” but can barley handle of the locals around there area, let alone handle any of the out of town players (looking at you Houston scene, outside of Jan).
I did hear reports about random player beating another “top player” at Evo, however people would proclaim that the results we’re false and that the “top player” won. There is a reason why in Japan they call some of these players “popular players” and NOT “top players”.
It happens more often than people think in random majors ;(
lol, no kidding ;o
Honestly, this shit’s been going on in tourneys for probably longer than I’ve been playing FGs. TOs always cater to top players… they’re the ones everyone’s come to see so if they’re not happy, none of their dick-riders (i.e. 90% of the community) are happy.
Hell, I’ve been to many a tourney where those running brackets are eager to DQ any no-name player who doesn’t show up 10mins after being called, but are willing to hold up an entire tourney and wait 3hrs for a “top” player (“top” in that they’re more of a publicized player than a skilled player).
Only thing I can say is, try bring this shit up whenever you can. Eventually, TOs will start to worry about credibility and do something.
[EDIT] … unless they’re PZ.
Well, at least now we know why JWong threw the loser’s finals.
And man, raging and slamming a controller at your own event? LOL, way to set a example of the type of behavior you expect and are willing to tolerate.
true story vampire savior was held up at power up for 3+ hours because jwong was playing on the stream then me and jwong were dq’ed even though i had been there the whole time
the last seasons beatings i went to (it was like SB2 or SB3) , i had to wait almost 3 hours to play combo fiend in soul calibur 4…
they dq’d him 2 or 3 times but kept giving him 2nd chances, but then he finally came to play and had no idea what he was doing (just throwing out random moves with algol)
of course I couldn’t leave while I was waiting because I didn’t want to get DQ’d myself (which probably would have happened had I not been at the station when he finally came)
Four players coming out of different pools in winners, and Inthul was happier to fight Justin than Wolfkrone according to the stream because he hates the Fei/Viper matchup. Isn’t it safe to assume that letting Justin fight someone besides PR Rog was allowed by the other players there? I think it’s kind of a non-issue considering Inthul wanted Justin over Wolfkrone at the beginning of the match, even won the first game against Justin’s Adon before Justin picked out his pocket Fei to mindfuck him.
The 2 outta 3 thing becoming 3 outta 5 was bullshit though, but it sounded like a mis-communication between the staff and the players. Someone had said losers finals was 3 outta 5 before it took place, but someone else said 2 outta 3 and the players seemed to accept it without talking to any of the staff, especially with how long winners finals had taken and how late it was. Then when Justin’s team got upset Noel tracked down a TO to find out, and it had supposed to be 3 outta 5 originally. I’m pretty sure Noel could out hamburgle Wolfkrone any day of the week.
edit: It does appear he gets special treatment, which is a little silly, but not very surprising. It’s kinda the opposite of F-champ being salty he had to face Ricky in top 16 at Final Round, so shoutouts to Final Round for not caring about “celebrity” tirades. Justin didn’t want to fight PR Rog because they’re friends, and he’d rather fight against one of the guys he’s not friends with, no one really cared so they flipped a coin and let it go.
Also shoutouts to Tom Brady giving more shoutouts than commentary.
Shoutouts to Kensou.
Edit: If it was streamed, then it was recorded. Can you please find it in the spooky archives?
I think it’s in this one somewhere, because most of top8 SSFIV is. I don’t have the time to sit and find it right now though.
Updated OP with link to archive
i blame Shadaloo for all this.
ever since they obtained control of the tournament circuit in the u.s., its been downhill from then on.
damn you m. bison and your syndicate of darkness!!!
edit
in all seriousness though, why are people allowed to pick and choose who their opponent is going to be?
i’ve never heard/seen a tourny with bs rules like that.
shit is supposed to be random slots…and impossible to change after selections have been made.
wut?
have tourny organizers ever watched the world tournament saga in dbz?
seriously, pick a ping pong ball with a number on it out of a box with a hole in it…thats your number…no debating it…and you fight against whoever has their number up in conjunction with yours thats up on the board.
easy peasy.
If you guys think this stuff is bad wait until you hear some stories about the SRK Illuminati
We need a thread for this stuff.
This one.
If you keep watching the recording, Spooky does explain what happened at some point. I don’t remember what he said but he explained that Justin didn’t pick who he got to play against.
