This whole post is almost a copy & paste of IGN’s review, lol.
i like what theyre doing with gannicus. they didnt just make him jump in and join the group and join hands and shit. hes still on his own shit.
ashur is pimp. as i stated back in season 1. “and i was considered lowest among the brotherhood” after besting 3 of glabers men… gdlk. pwning xena… gdlk. now hes got his own group of bad asses. wanna see what comes of that. i see them possibly taking out one or more of spartacus’ main guys. maybe the new gay little guy or agron himself. would have said rhaskos but they already killed off that char.
ninja edit: also he used batiatus’ line on xena. “no, i secure it”. gdlk
mira still op.
already bored with the navea story.
bout time glaber came into his own as the main villain.
Oh well I guess I had a similar view as the ign guy this week, it happens. I agree that Naviea’s story is boring but I still hoping it leads to something better and her talking about fighting herself is pretty dope.
But yeah this was all about Ashur being beastly this week and Glabur becoming menacing. Nobody else thought it was waaaay too much slo-mo this episode? Really?
i dont mind the slow mo. at least not yet. never really noticed they used it a lot till it got pointed out here. still doesnt really bother me.
only thing im disliking so far is the boring ass naevia sub plot
Glaber went from pussy pushover to murderous badass + jailbait hunter. Last two weeks were crazy.
hmm… not sure why they had to actually kill blondie slave. I mean, sure she was doing a runner so she can FINALLY get laid (which she was itching for the whollle episode LOL), but I think they could have went with a better direction with this personally. At least injure her or something… gonna miss her. she really was quite hot.
Man i really need to get back to this show, i’ve only seen the 1st episode…So it looks like its getting better? How’s the frontal nudity?
lol, not only that, but hommie didn’t realize it was spoiler while he was reading the long ass post? And yea I share most of your thoughts on the episode, mira is badass, I like the direction they are going with naevia, I actually felt really sad for her when she couldn’t even have sex with crixus. Plus it shows, you don’t get raped and just recover from it, there is a long road to recovery. Hopefully she becomes a nice warrior later down the line. With that said, personally the slow mos don’t bother me nearly as much, in fact I only started noticing because peeps here where complaining bout it, it all felt natural to me. Plus am I the only one who really felt sorry for the ladies this episode? Lucretia getting raped by one of her old slaves must have been a very humbling experience. And I really feel sorry for ilithyia, her dad just died, her husband is a douche bag who is probably gonna start cheating on her soon, and her only friend is probably plotting against her. My heart has always gone out to her because she has never been an evil character, shes just always looked out for herself(and in season 1, her husband). In fact the only reason why she hates spartacus is because he embarrassed her husband. And ashur… ashur bodying the soldiers was rather impressive.
Glaber is finally becoming a true villain, I love how in the last two episodes, he pretty much went around and showed all the people that have been disrespecting him all season, that he is nobodies bitch. The scene of him in the house with the hood on was simply badass, and the manner in which he killed jamie lannister was pretty darn evil. Also I really wanna see where they go with gannicus, I think he is gonna join the rebellion later down the line, but these writers have made a habit of throwing me off, so Im not gonna hold my breath.
Can’t wait to see what next weeks episode brings, the slaves have been doing well for themselves, so Im expecting them to have to deal with some adversity next week.
I hate Ashur (deservingly so) but his fight for his life and victory made me respect him just a smidgen. He even managed to be humble about his victory which was cool.Raping
Lucretia and her wonderful nips are still scheming, I think her eventual plan is to fnd position and kill her “best friend” but only after she completely trusts and loves her, for the psychological pain of it all.
Glabur had love holding him back from being a true villain, no with no one to trust his doesn’t have anything holding him back. Still hardly terrifying however…
Gannicus v. Spartacus was cool, and there was a lot of real time sequences, good job at showing respective skills at work.
She died because she was a conniving bitch, and worst off, she wasn’t even cunning about being a conniving bitch so it cost her. Instead of actually taking what Mira was saying and finding her own purpose, she betrayed a gang of people who are highly trained killers in a stupid effort to go back to slavedom.
Yeah that’s why I don’t like where they went with her character because her plan make little to no sense and if she was gonna die and her plan fail why even put her on the show? She seems like a waste of time now in retrospect because really what did she do? Not much, and I feel that time could have been put into other more important characters like giving Argon more screen time or something while he was on assignment from Spartacus. Maybe a dream sequence with Oenomeus while he was injured.
I hope that prostitute becomes more interesting soon, she has had two episodes to get in the story now it’s time for her propose to be shown imo.
no new ep tonight??
It happened, and it was amazing.
cant wait!!
Gannicus! Gannicus! Gannicus!
That ep was great. Gannicus is a fucking G.
Also, probably best kill I’ve ever seen in Spartacus. Ggpo face.
god i look forward to this show every week. easily the best show on tv for me right now. gannicus is so badass. i would have liked to see some flashbacks or something of how he kept in fighting form because it just seems like he’s been boozing and whoring since he got his freedom. i guess he’s just that badass that he doesn’t need to train or practice. the scene when glaba and his crew are walking along the wagon and there are all those bodies just made me remember how badass he was. i was kind of nervous about ashur’s crew but then gannicus made me remember they were the dregs of the pit while the elite were dominating in the arena. what an awesome way for gannicus to show which side he had chosen.
this season is getting better and better. i might have to rewatch season 1 and the prequel again before the finale or something.
I’m gonna try to keep this short and sweet because these rundowns can get outta hand and become walls of texts.
Love this episode from the start where they liberate a bunch of new slaves. Right from the jump we are introduce to the new female fighter the shows producers were teasing and she seems…primal. I like the fight scene between her and Mira and I hope to see more about her because she kinda got outshined here so here’s hoping to next episode on that. Agron got to big a head, forgot who was in charge, gave his people too much freedom, and was made to look foolish because of it. This was a cool storyline because the whole big strong guy trying to rape naviea kills two birds with one stone: it will gets rid of the dumb rivalry between Agron and Crixus while also establishing spartacus as commander above the others as he should be. A little convenient but it works for what it was supposed to accomplish.
Ashur and Glabur continue to be real assholes to their women ( well women in general) and it’s both sad but also endearing that Lucretia and Itlitheia are bonding through their pain and suffering. I love how the shows that Lucretia is still the more mature and crafty of the two as Itlithiea was about ready to give up life while Lucretia was all “FUCK THAT! I got a plan.” and set it into motion within the same episode which is impressive. Of course Ashur raping Lucretia while trying to control her and her not having it try to one-up each other. Both attempt to hurt each others standing by getting in the way of each others plans and both succeed but does anyone else think it’s creepy how Ashur kinda gets off on her being with him like she was with her DEAD husband…fetish type stuff to me. Not a good look and I’m a Ashur fan. The scene where the slave girl was killed made me more mad at Itlithiea than Glabur because I felt she could have gotten away with stopping Glabur that one time and she punked out, of course Lucretia did tell her to let it go but still was kinda f’d up imo.
Gannicus have a lot of stuff going on here and it was all pretty great starting with the random whore at the poon house. I mentioned them doing something with her or else she becomes useless and they did…by making her somewhat of a catalyst to which side he fights on. My favorite scene had to be Gannicus and Ashur’s little conversation at the whore house because it reminded me that it was so long since these two characters really interacted and of course I love both characters so this was a highlight for me seeing how far they have come. The final scenes where the slow pull up to Glabur was a little obvious to me because they weren’t gonna kill Galbur off just as he got real evil, plus I knew they had to have Seppia finally bang him since they had been teasing it. But the reveal that Gannicus had his own plan and instead decided to attack and kidnap Glabur’s wife I was surprised admittedly, seeing Kratos gladiator with the rudus stabbed in his heart was a nice touch and made it much more badass imo.
Solid episode again full of more drama and a big brawl that was kinda of unexpected but fun 8/10.
DOCOTERYUKEN! :dp::hp:
Gannicus is my favorite Gladiator srsly.
