People were calling him the new Daigo when he played Ryu, but then he switched to Fei. Too bad he missed every single combo…can’t wait for the rest of that tournament footage. That oyama-like outfit and his forward dash are godlike…

Yeah he missed a couple of crucial combos in the 3rd round that cost him the match. Plus he didn’t want to play the fireball game at all, it almost looked like he wanted to get in and show off some ER combos instead. When you have the lead and Shaku, make Sagat have to come to you for once.
Too bad we couldn’t see more of his ER in action. His first match just had to be against someone who was a Grandmaster with Sagat in vanilla.

Aside from the fact that Poongko does not block ever, he does cr.lp cr.lp s.hp lk tatsu hp dp in the first video which is pretty cool.

So theoretically you could do cr.LP > cr.LP > st.HP xx MK Axe Kick > cr.MP xx LK Tatsu > HP SRK. That’s like the most ridiculous BnB in the game
Not worth it. A cr.lp is never good to add in a good due to damage scaling. More lights just means you’re bad at hit confirmming, like doing c.lp, c.lp, c.lp xx shoryu with Ken (instead of c.lp, c.lp, shoryu) and f.hp, c.lp, c.hp with Ryu (instead of f.hp, c.hp or f.hp, c.mp, c.hp depending on spacing).
I’m pretty sure cr lpx3 into hp shoryuken does more damage than 2 of them into hp shoryuken. I haven’t checked in a while and like most ppl I start it with cr. lk. I’m just saying nothing wrong with going into a bnb off of cr lp and hit confirming his health isn’t high enough to risk the mistake anyway so w/e works.
You can’t hit confirm off 1 cr.LP. It’s impossible. UNpossible in fact.
No one’s talking about 3 cr.lp here. You need 2 to hit confirm, just hope it works on everyone with normal spacing.
I tried it out earlier today. It was really weird…
After a jump in, cr.LP cr.LP st.HP worked. After a focus crumple and dash to point blank range cr.LP cr.LP far.HP came out. In normal situations far.HP came out all but 2 times. I didn’t even get it out enough to reliably check which characters it worked against…
I don’t know if you need to do it exactly on the right frame to get the close HP to come out, like some of akuma’s st.HP combos vs Balrog for example.
Gonna go and try it again tomorrow.
Made my post under the assumption that the spacing for cl.hp to come out is only reliable after a jump in, so one c.lp would be enough to hit confirm, just like it work for characters like Akuma and Seth.
The only reason it worked in that situation was because it was a blocked lunge, which has forward momentum. Things like cr.mp, cr.mp, cr.mp, sweep (from Ryu) are possible against Bison after a blocked sweep, since that pushes him forward.
So I’m pretty sure in normal situations you can’t c.lp, c.lp, cl.hp and that was a poor punish choice for lunge, since he could do cr.mp, cl.hp (assuming frame data is same as Akuma’s) or cr.lp, cl.hp, whatever.
Man, the way I got excited at the idea of comboing into st.HP from a hit confirm… sigh

At that range its always possible, if you want a slight better version, use cr.lk, cr.lp to cl.hp…start a block string and opponent must blocked low or else he eats a big combo…
And at jump ins, you would just basically skip the lights unless you’re using j.lk or j.mk just for stability otherwise you would just skip to cl.hp from jump ins…
cl.HP stands opponents.
cl.HP cancels into MK Axe Kick and combos.
MK Axe Kick combos into cr.MP xx LK Tatsu which will only hit standing opponents.
Ergo cr.LP > cr.LP > cl.HP xx MK Axe Kick > cr.MP xx LK Tatsu > HP SRK would always combo regardless of crouching or standing and does just shy of 300 dmg for no EX meter whatsoever.
Which would make it the most powerful BnB in the game.
However I am pretty sure cr.LP > cr.LP > cl.HP doesn’t work very often. And yes, cr.LK is always interchangable with the first cr.LP. It is situational based on whether you are utilising frame advantage, or a high/low mix up.
You have to be pretty close to land cl. HP after connecting with 2 light attacks. And it also doesn’t work on everybody. From time to time I use Akuma in training mode just to see what works and what doesn’t. If Evil Ryu is just like Akuma, then connecting cl. HP after 2 light attacks doesn’t work on every character even with a deep jump in attack.
You’re best bet is train yourself to hit confirm after the jump in and one light attack and recognize the situations like Cammy doing a unsafe drill and knowing that you can punish hard without needing a long hit confirm.
