Good job.
3hr 58min. Naruo vs Amiyu. My bad. I’ve been busy
It would be really cool if he chained his cr. mk into lk axe kick on combos as it works at max range and does more damage. He definitely has the execution to do it consistently. Maybe he doesn’t practice that combo?

I love me some Sako. Nice find.

Few matchs I played some days ago, the akuma player isnt a native akuma and theres a lot of strange decisions from both players due the fact that the akuma isnt a very orthodox player and I knew that (you gonna see a lot of early j.kicks, etc). By the way Im taking advices on how to play against akuma, I usually lose when I have the oportunity to play a good akuma.

Wish I could help. Akuma controls mid range so well that it’s frustrating.
Only thing I can say is work on punishing Akuma’s s.HK when the 2nd kick whiffs. You can get half life from Akuma if he’s dumb enough to use it recklessly.
If you expect it, You can neutral jump MK to punish it or s.MK to counter poke
nice evil ryu man your links are crisp and i actually learned a thing or two. i can’t really critique since your on a different level than me right now hah
I usually punish the far s.HK properly, its just hard to bait it properly, you have to be too near in order to take the first hit. About the neutral jump, I do it more due lack of options than anything else, you have to do it so earlier… But once you basically cant do nothing against akuma, I tend to neutral jump a lot to catch random demon flips and the s.HK. You have to download the Akuma youre player against completly in order to win him with Ryu/E.Ryu, since day 1 I think the Ryu vs Akuma is not good matchup to Ryu, I dont even think its an even matchup. The same aplies to E.Ryu.
Nice matches Deathgun, I’m not that great of a player nor am I any good at critiquing players but here is a few things I have to say.
Wish we could have seen you in different situations. This looks like a 09 Akuma, no vortex game at all. As for the match up, I do think it’s kind of bad for Evil Ryu, but most people think it’s either even or a good match up for (regular)Ryu. If you got anymore I’d love to see it. We don’t get enough people uploading there matches around here.
These friends of mine are going to record some of my matchs with them, as soon as they post the videos somewhere I past the links here. It wont be a great footage but I think some footage is better than no footage at all.
Yeah Im used to do c.mk xx lk. axe kick only after a ch c.mp but Im too undisciplined these days, I think its because I havent been playing too much these days. My real problem is with the cl.HP xx MK Axe Kick, I do that a lot on block, I got too much used to do it because nobody I play against punishes it.
FYI Deathgun. Ryu vs Akuma is considered Akuma’s worst matchup
I know it, I just dont agree with it. I think if daigo and tokido havent recorded that giant set in the past the general opinion about this matchup would to be a little different today.
And, it beeing somebody’s worse matchup doesnt means its a bad matchup, His worse matchup could to be 5-5. I dont even think Akuma have any bad matchup at all.
Ryu/Akuma is a funny bad matchup insofar that it isn’t based on gamplan shutdown in a sense. Like, think Dhalsim vs. AE Ryu for example, where it’s a struggle to even do anything. Akuma is a character who has tools. Few of those are anything amazing, but all are workable. This means he always, always has a plan B to exploit the opponent’s weaknesses and usually play the opponent’s game a bit if necessary, even if he’s worse at it.
His few actual bad matchups are the ones where he has to play the opponent’s game (Ryu, for example, has such good defense most of Akuma’s bullshit gets shut down turning the match into “who’s the better basic shoto”), but is let down by his low-ish damage and atrocious health and stun. That is to say, he has to play better than the opponent longer, but the actual interactions are healthy. If he had more HP, those matches would probably be even.
I’m not sure it’s a “bad” match, just that he has to work harder. Akuma has great tools and above average damage, but low health. He can’t afford to make mistakes like Ryu.
He doesn’t really deal good damage outside of the vortex. As far as random hits go, his damage is worse than Ryu and bnbs do about equal damage, and Ryu can’t be tatsu-swept which makes maintaining the vortex pretty hard. Then you have stuff like Ryu’s normals having better hitboxes and active frames (especially relevant on jumping ones, though air fb shores up a bit in that department) and those extra hit points… It’s a definite disadvantage. Very playable for a disadvantaged matchup, but a disadvantaged one nonetheless.
He has above average damage compared to the cast (almost as good as E. Ryu actually). But yea, Akuma won’t do the same percentage wise due to Ryu and he wouldn’t want to trade hits. Ryu does have godly normals. Akuma does have the tools, he just has to work harder this time around.
I guess I just have a different definition of bad. shrugs. I see what you mean though.
