No HELL NO
the point in using a whiffing move is to mark the perfect time to jump or to get in the right position to jump, but the s.HP dont work for timming purposes and also dont work to put Ryu in the correct position, why do u use it? I see no reason for that.
First off, its not my video im just contributing. Second off, what the hell is your point!? Its a setup for a 4F safejump which can be easily turned into a VERY ambiguous crossup. The s.HP works perfect after a HK axe kick.
Its not a setup, if you perform the HP in the first possible frame and then hold u.f., the jumpin will miss. So if you have to time the HP by yourself, you can just to wait until the exact frame and just do the jump in, w/o the HP. Its not a safe jump setup, like O.Ryu’s sweep.
Why are you so upset?? And who are you referring too
Well damn, that was a bit discouraging to watch. Mago goes 0-3(all 3 were extremely close though) with Evil Ryu and drops him for Gouken the rest of the video. Clearly he’s not that familiar with him or he would have done better but I guess that doesn’t really matter since he’s not going to main the guy anyways. Would have been nice to see some sick Evil Ryu technology, but I don’t think Mago will be putting in the time to show us something impressive.
that just goes to show you as i said before evil ryu isnt that strong enough character
He’s not top tier but I think think he’s a good character overall and definitely tournament viable. And definitely better than Gouken who Mago was much more impressive with in that video. It’s just that nobody is really exploring the character, not even Mr. Naps who is very solid with him but IMO isn’t taking the time to explore all his options and possibilities.
I see some of the possibilities, but I’m no where near good enough to show case them during matches. So I’m still hoping someone really good plays Evil Ryu and really put some time into learning what the character can do.
I’m glad no one is using him. Especially Mago!
I’m not saying I’m amazing but I’m really good, but I see so much hidden potential for E. Ryu. I’m going really hard with him and the stun damage it’s all apparent to me and friends of mine who are top players he’s a hidden beast

Spoiler
I lose of course, but I still feel like a winner because everything went according to plan in that 1st around and I executed accordingly which I almost never do lol. I felt so good after that 1st round, I honestly didn’t give a fuck if I won or not
Dat Rice_Eater special! I’ll love you forever for that setup. Once you get the cr. LP into HP shit is gold.
You probably could of had him in the 3rd round if you punished his whiffed Rising Jagga with the axe kick combo. You’d of took of half his life and he would of had to deal with another mixup.

Still working on that link but I’m not too sure I’ll ever be able to do it in matches with confidence.
As for the match, for some reason I didn’t feel confident in going for resets anymore after that 1st round. i felt like I showed all my all my cards and if I attempted anything else, I’d just get DP’s. One of my biggest opportunities to do a lot of damage was when I finished a combo with EX tatsu in the corner near the beginning of the 3rd round. I got scared and did MP SRK. What I should have done was did another dive kick reset because finishing with a EX tatsu in the corner puts you in the perfect position to make people think cross up when they’re cornered. If I landed that I could have done a number of things like the hop kick cross over, the corner dash under after LK Tatsu, or the same EX tatsu with reset dive kick again.
But you live and learn. I don’t upload much, but when I do I want to put more emphasis on Evil Ryu’s mix up potential because most people think he’s just a plain character like Ryu. He can definitely mix it up, it’s not the best, but as you saw, it can be very deadly. I sent a 1000 health character from full life to death in 11 seconds of game time.

Not the reset. After his whiffed Rising Jag, you had 3 bars. I was saying you could of punished his whiffed RJ with s.HP xx Fireball xx FADC…

Great matches Foxhound, I like your style and execution. I liked how you went for mix ups instead of guarantee damage, at least not all the time. The mid screen dash unders were also really nice, I don’t have enough confidence to do that kind of stuff during matches because of my horrid execution.
I’ve played that Cody many times in ranked, we’re probably close to even. You on the other hand destroyed him. I feel like I cost you that reset into EX axe kick after LK tatsu in that first game though, I’ve used it against him a number of times and maybe I prepared him for it. But keep it up, I look forward to more and hopefully you can keep adding stuff to your game.
My only current suggestion so far is that instead of resetting with a hop kick into a dive kick set up, you should instead go for a hard knockdown with MK or HK axe kick. Just back up a bit and you’re in the perfect range to make them guess dive kick or cross up on wake up.
