This is what I find so irritating about this match up. When you’re knocked down, you have to deal with the vortex. When you knock him down, if you even attempt to do any kind of jump in mix up(dive kick, ambiguous cross up, empty jump, etc.), he’ll just teleport away to safety.
Even option selects are so inconsistent. I spent some time in the training room working on OS HK tatsu(which you can end with DP, EX DP, Ultra for more damage). And I found that I was doing a tatsu in the wrong direction most of the time. Sometimes the tatsu just doesn’t reach Akuma so you might get punished.
I’m not sure how to time it so that it always works so at this point I rather just chuck a LP fireball for chip. Or he can teleport and either eat the fireball or a punish for going in my direction.

Probably not. I’ve been playing him for over a year and I dont feel as though he is as solid as my Ryu. Evil is like a mix of Dudley and Ryu, a solid jack of all trades and hits like a truck. This character was made for me.
