Actually you can get raikousen combos without buster shot and still relaunch after. Just requires an assist. I was using that as combo filler while I was still tryin to get used to buster combos.
LMHf.HS>j.MMHS>call Spencer Piercer Assist>H Sentsuizan>Assist hits>TK L Raikousen>slight delay>S>MMHS>Land>Rekkoha. So it’s not IMPOSSIBLE without buster, just requires certain setups.
Zeros’s air H is a really good move, especially since it’s an overhead as well, and it can also start a combo, however, sometimes during the combo, Zero for A or B reason will switch sides during each Shippuga, so much that in the end I can’t do Rekkoha after air M,M,H,S because the opponent will be out of reach
I agree. My setup with pad makes it impossible to do Buster combos. I am actually going to browse around this thread before I ask for a good non-buster combos that doesn’t require the simplistic MMH to Super combo that anyone can do.
Pretty sure I did buster switch combos (not even just normal 1-button buster combos, but dynamic button-switch combos) on gamecube pad in TvC (a much harder game to do charge combos in) and OmegaZero (the god of TvC Zero combos) did them on wii classic controller - Pretty hard to imagine worse controllers for charge switching than those. Stop making excuses or stop gimping yourself.
can someone break this down… and show what inputs he’s using for the tk lighting… like the numeric inputs
This is coming from a guy who can’t even confirm with certainty that he can do the combo with the gamecube pad. Either you did or you didn’t. There is a reason a lot of people don’t use Zero because he is one of the hardest characters to do combos. The same applies to Doctor Doom because of his normals. Stop being so arrogant. There are people here who are trying to learn to use the character. Unless you are Marn, I don’t want to hear from a scrub who talks smack about using Zero.
Someone fails really hard at understanding implications. I did them on gamecube pad, and OZ did them on classic controller.
Arrogant? I’ve said a million times I’m bad at this game, but people need to face the truth that they are gimping themselves if they aren’t willing to learn. Also, if you’re posting in the combo thread and don’t want to hear from one of the main contributors to said thread then you’re doing it wrong.
I’m not getting into it beyond this though so this thread can go back to being about combos.
um im learning zeros bnb and i have everything consistent but the last launch befor your hit them with the rekoha it keeps throwing them to far and if i wait to long it wiffs. It keeps on happening to me vs captian america so if anyone can give me some advice because i cant figure it out. its the last move b4 the rekoha the special button launches them to far no matter how many time i let the jumping hard hit.
Here’s a little sample, if you are doing a standard buster combo like this;

When you re-launch for the second time, make sure you SJ with u/f so Zero jumps at a slight angle so when he does the j.S, he is close enough that Rekkoha hits.
yeah im doing that exact bnb but when i press up and foward on the second launch on captian america sometimes i end up on the opposite side not facing him and end up on his other side.
Hey, Cap is one of those chars you switch sides a lot on. but in the end you can still do it, its the ground S you need to delay after lightning. try to relaunch him when hes right in front of you almost touching the ground, then you can sj forward which is what causes you to land close enough for rekkoha.
It’s not like I’m unwilling to learn something new or practice. It’s that ive been using my triggers as assists 1 and 2 from the start, so it would be a much worse gimp to suddenly have one of my assists on the face and one as a trigger. That would be a much harsher gimp, I think. That’s why i asked if any decent combos existed w/o the buster. I was prepared for an answer of “nope, not really.” It’s just a shame, because I feel like Zero is one of my stronger characters as far as getting in and opening people up. But sadly I’m not about to rearrange my config so that one of the 9 characters I play can add 200k to his combos. just not practical unless it’s the diff between winning a tournament and not, which it isn’t <shrug> I do thank everyone for the input, and may still persue it w/ the assist OTGs. Likewise I found last night a combo-gimp’d Zero still builds meter nicely for a Phoenix team.
I’ll try to offer some insight here because I actually used my GC pad shoulder buttons as Mega Crash and Push-Block macros in TvC so I couldn’t use them for charge switching either. Basically I always positioned my right thumb so that I could press a button while holding another (possibly a little easier on GC pad actually) with Y set to :l:, A to , and X to :h:, with B as my assist button. If I had to call an assist during a charge combo I actually reached over with my left thumb quickly to press the assist button so I wouldn’t have to lose my charge if I was holding :h: (it’s not realistically possible for one thumb to simultaneously press X and B on a GC controller without also pressing A). It was tricky as hell at first, and I’m sure OZ had his own method for charge switching as well, but basically just find what you’re comfortable with. The other option is learning to play claw, but that’s just like learning stick in that it’s learning an entirely different way to play.
