Hulk SMASH Camera-Man! (MvC3 Hulk Video Thread)

At 1:05 we can see hulks new punch, looks like you can charge it up, I wonder how much armor it has?

That new move looks tight and wall bounces? Awesome. Combo into corner into Corner otg wallbounce h otg gamma crush yay <3

Gamma Gamers, prepare to encounter more saltiness.

With this move, plus the original SMASH (standing:h:) being buffed to take up to 3 hits, this makes Hulk the king of Super Armor. What I’m really wondering is can this new move connect with the Gamma Charge to help keep them in the corner. I already can see how it can go right into the Gamma Tsunami. As for how much Armor it has, it might have about the same as Viper’s Focus Attack, since it looks like both moves you can charge up.

I don’t know. The move looks like it’s going to be used as a combo extender more than anything else. A previous video showed it doesn’t wallbounce without charging and it kinda looks like it suffers from a similar hitbox as s.:m: - which is a great move but because it misses so many characters, is hardly ever used.

Who knows, the hitbox could be extended for this move so that it hits short or ducking characters. As for it being a combo extender, never saw the video for that.

I’ve read almost everything in all the hulk threads, and I created an account just to ask this question. My team is ammy/hulk/dante. I’ve always had a hard time with using dante’s crystal as an OTG(I know there’s faster OTG’s) because of the timing and used it more as a shield to get in with ammy or hulk. My question is when do you call dante in your combos above, right when you hit the ground and before you dash, OR after you dash? Thanks.

Good news and bad news. Good news: I have some matches to share. Bad news: I had better matches to share about a week ago, but I accidentally deleted them while clearing up some space on my iPhone. I uploaded 8 online ranked matches from last night to YouTube.

Some notes before the video links:

[]You’ll notice that they aren’t just 8 straight matches. I did not record any matches that were against 4th Lords (too fresh to this group to guarantee a decent match).
[
]I’m sick right now; there’s not too much in the video, but you will hear my clear my throat and it sounds pretty rough

I’m going to a tournament in Chicago in a couple weekends that’s going to be streamed. With any luck, I’ll have some offline matches to share soon. Standing :m: is too hard to hit confirm online so you won’t see me use it in the videos posted here. Hulk’s command throw is already super slow, adding 4-8 frames of lag to it makes it like a 15+ frame command throw that’s easily punished, so I don’t use that online very often either. Additionally, I’m looking at investing in an HD recording device. If I get one, then I’ll be able to record more often.

The moment I touch the ground, I use 2 button dash and press the assist button simultaneously. If you call Dante at the same time as dashing, he will position himself as though he was called after the dash, which is the only reason that you can use him. All other assists share this quirk.

First, awesome setup. Makes me jealous. Although, will it affect you playing on much smaller setups in tournament settings?

Second, video comments…
[LIST]
[]First vid - You destroyed this guy. It was obvious that he’s “just a netplayer.” My only mistake that I thought you made was not running from the XF’ed character. Against the better offline players, it’s MUCH better to simply run away from XFactor.
[
]Second vid - Another meh opponent. Very smart of you to make him use Hulk for last. Of course, he could’ve killed your Dante with a proper XF combo, but he failed miserably.
[]Third vid - Finally a decent opponent, except his team order is flawed. And don’t worry, we all know the netcode is awful. Against Task, I thought you could’ve just switched to Dante to save Hulk a lot of trouble.
[
]Fourth vid - As soon as you hit Joe, it should’ve been game over. Could you have killed him with Gamma Tsunami, Million Dollars, XF, Million Dollars, or any variant of XF and supers? I guess I’m just accustomed to Chaotic Flame, XF, Chaotic Flame doing ridiculous damage. lol
[]Fifth vid - Very close game. I couldn’t tell if this guy was good or just getting lucky.
[
]Sixth vid - WOW. Hulk was destroyed by that Spiderman trap. That guy’s team was really odd though. Akuma replacing Ryu would’ve made it much better.
[]Seventh vid - Same guy as above. Ugh… the netplay got to you, as shown by Doom dropping combos.
[
]Eighth vid - Smart chipping in the end.

As expected, we play alike - fish for the airthrows constantly, use assists to approach, and heavily pressure incoming characters. My one complaint is that you don’t use dp Gamma Charge at all. With the use of Molecular Shield though, it doesn’t matter as much. Just make sure you don’t become too reliant and obvious on constantly calling assists.

What’s with the j.M on incoming characters? Can’t you be thrown out of that if the opponent is holding back while mashing H? Just curious.

Why don’t people know how to move hulk around? It bothers me watching people just drag hulk around in those vids. I do like some of your stuff! Do you play on ps3?

Thanks for the input. I’m going to comment on most of what you posted. I think I may have posted the videos in the wrong order though b/c you’re comments don’t correlate properly.

1st video: I rarely run from X-factored opponents with Hulk or Dante with the exception of extremely fast XF3 characters like Wesker or Chun Li. Both Hulk and Dante have reach greater than almost the entire cast and both have invincible moves that result in heavy damage if the opponent gets hit by them. Not to mention air throws are still god vs. XF3 opponents.
3rd video: You’re right about Dante vs. Taskmaster. I get a decent amount of Hulk practice vs. Taskmaster offline, so I’m usually okay with the match-up. Online you’re definitely right, but offline Taskmaster combos always result in kills against Dante, which gimps my Hulk too much to risk.
4th video: I have sometimes have trouble doing jump cancels online, but yes, that situation usually ends with me using Tsunami, Million Dollars, XF, Air Trick, j.:s:, combo. I personally don’t think online play is that bad, but there are some ridiculous issues with the netcode including that a triple ATK button sometimes registers as :h: when trying to use a Hyper and sometimes if you roll behind an opponent holding left (for instance), if you’re opponent performs a meaty attack as you stand up, the game doesn’t always register left as back in time to block the attack, even if you never let go of left.
6th & 7th videos: Yeah, that Spider-man trap was pretty nice. I literally see no way for Hulk to escape that setup. It’s also cool that he uses Deadpool twice during his effectively TOD Spider-man combo.

As far as calling Doom assist a lot: against opponents that do not have the ability to punish him with a beam hyper, I call him almost non-stop. He protects himself and is nearly impossible to punish without a projectile hyper. I don’t use him so much to get hits, so I don’t see a problem in being obvious with him. I just want the constant pressure he provides.

I mostly mess around with j.:m: online (I do it offline too, just less often), but I don’t think it can be thrown if you time it as a meaty and cancel the recovery into j.:h:. I may be wrong about not being able to be thrown before the j.:h:, but only people that know that specifically are going to go for the throw there. I personally think :h: is better against incoming opponents if you just want to punish them for pushing buttons, but I use online play for experimenting. One nice thing I like about the j.:m: setup though is it causes your opponent to touch the ground JUST before the j.:s: hits, which means they have to fight the habit of switching to blocking low the moment they touch the ground.

Thank you. Yes, I play on PS3. Feel free to add me: CPK-Liquid. If you see me playing Black Ops though, please don’t blow me up with Marvel invites. I never play Black Ops alone, and it’s very unlikely that I’ll ditch my brother to play Marvel.

Its been awhile but here’s some stream footage of my Hulk http://www.twitch.tv/optionselect/b/292948333

Do you happen to know what the timestamp is for your Hulk play? I don’t want to watch a 2 hr stream just to find your Hulk.

I start playin towards the end of part one of the stream and at the beginning of part two.

It’s hard to critique a Hulk without him having an otg. Dropping Task for any otg assist would work.

Anyway, try to be more proactive and threatening. Jump-cancelled dashes should be used to close the gap. Meet the opponent in the air and try for an airthrow… of course, it will be harder for you to combo off of the airthrows due to lack of otg.

Same thing Astaroth said, the way I see it your hulk isn’t really that threatening. You have a tendency of backing away and letting your opponent run around. Your Dorm seems to be the strongest character on your team with Task being second and hulk being your weakest.

Definitely, Hulk is my best and favorite character. So angry, so strong, and pleasant to use. I can manage most of the characters, but, recently, one of my friend uses Morrigan and especially her Astral Vision to annoy me with her small hit box and she constantly spams Soul Fist from both sides to lock me and do cheap damage. I usually team up Hulk with Sentinel, Wesker, Haggar, Arthur, Dormammu, and Skrull, but I can’t find how to beat that bwitch!! Help the beast!!

Check the Hulk Vs. thread it has some decent info in there, and also talks about Morrigan.

Thanks again Juece!!
