just came back from family fun and have some questions about hugo match ups. i did surprising well against yun/ken/chun , but had no chance against tengu stone oro.
i will admit to being double perfected against oro, but i really couldnt do anything…literally!! oros s.hk beat EVERY SINGLE POKE THAT HUGO HAS!! i use gigas just because its fun, and with that said, getting my super up is no easy task. someone please tell me how to beat a good tengu oro with gigas hugo (or hugo in general for that matter). and i know that double perfect is noob, i just got owned, ill admit it, lol. thanks in advance

Twelve V.S. Hugo
Twelve is safe using standing HK’s on Hugo from a distance. Not liek he can Houyoukusen him. Standing MP works well. Use some N.D.L.'s and keep Hugo away. Don’t air dash that much. Gliding deep HK, crouching HP always works on Hugo just about, unlike some characters. Neutral throw him, then OTG combo him with X.N.D.L. or X.F.L.A.T. Punsih whiffed drop kics, crouching HP’s & HK’s.
Oro’s s.HK beats lots of ppls pokes, even some of Chun’s, so it’s not suprising (though it is very annoying) that he can beat a lot of Hugo’s. But TBH, I’m thinking that if he is hitting you with s.HK then it is from afar, rather than up close, and that being the case you shouldn’t be charging your bar by doing s.MP or twd.HP.
Best to use SA3 if you are not planning on landing SA1 set-ups, and charge up with lp claps and back j.HP from afar, this way you shouldn’t come into contact with any s.HK from Oro. Remember that Hugo can use his SA3 similar to Makoto/Ken’s cr.WKxxSA. This works rather well infact. Up close, Hugo’s cr/s.LPx3 and s.LK are very good to poke with as they will snuff out a lot of things, though I find s.LK works better when out of throw/uppercut range.
Unfortunately I haven’t played high level Oro users so these are just things I would look out for if I was using Oro myself.
Twelve can also glide and MP Hugo outta Shootdown Backbreaker or Megaton press
Anyone can jumping attack Hugo out of the shootdown or megaton, but not on reaction. Hense why people who play against against SA2 Hugo either never jump, or jump with and early attack.
Well he can also get lucky and drop Remy and Akuma if they get too frisky, both of them take damage like little bitches, one gigas and its “you get nothing. You lose. Good day sir!”

Y.S.B vs pierro(aka the best remy in Japan)

and yea, this is from the G-Up 4
(Right click>Save Target As)
YSB is broken.
talk about mastering the parry.
Goddamn YSB… =(
Heh heh
OOOOWNED!!!
I suck against Chun Li… How do you approach her? I would rather not play footsies with her.
OMG YSB IS MY HERO.
I see that he got a perfect o_0, anyone got the whole match?
Well you have to remember that Hugo is bigger than Chun Li, and at the right distance can nullify her footsies. The thing to remember is to keep pressure on her, and make sure to try to keep her from building up meter.
Don’t underestimate the power of Standing Lk, or Standing and Crouching MP. The last thing to remember that Chun Li has a very limited anti-air choices, so abuse that.
hugo vs necro stuff??
I actually find necro to be a pretty difficult opponent with hugo, I normally switch characters if im playing someone of equal skill
The problem comes from the fact that Hugos fantastic pokes (think standing MP and low MK) are just outclassed by necros. This could be a lot to do with the fact that I abuse these moves with hugo anyway, but getting close to do real damage is extremely hard. Necro’s moves will also hit hugo more than most because he is SO DAMN BIG AND SLOW.
If I have to use hugo vs him though, I’ll try and jump in, parry his anti air and get him or space him at the distance I want… i.e near max range of low MK and standing MP Both of these can be difficult though.
What about an extremely good Akuma vs Hugo?
I am getting better with hugo and understand fairly well. However, there is one guy that plays a beastly akuma, he can poke, throw, and combo me like it is nothing. Again its only against his akuma. I know Hugo is at a disadvantage to begin with, but I need all the help I can get. I mean, at least not give him two perfect rounds in a row. So yeah, help me not get raped.
Thanks.
Is he an air fb akuma? or an aggressive one? Does he spam jump hurricane or uppercut into sa1 when you jump in?
He does a bit of everything, and is very good at using that Hyakki Shuu (sp?) move, either the low sliding kick or the throw. He makes it so that I can’t get close to him, and if I do he busts out with shoryukens that are faster than all of my moves.
I haven’t seen any akuma tourney vids, so I wouldn’t know who to compare him too. The only guy who succeeds in beating him is a good ken player with the usual poking into SAIII.
I know it is an uphill climb, but I enjoy the challenge.
Thanks
