What is the point of Hugo’s super feint? I didn’t even know it existed until today.

use it to delay the run for timing purposes ; not realy usefull but nice^

Hugos Cons outweigh his Pros by far i feel like the only reason he wins against people is because they don’t know how to play the game or since its online people try to play all “yolo” against him. Japan were right about him he really is Z tier and Despite Combofiend seeing all these complains with hugo they still didn’t improve him

Good Damage
Good Pokes and godlike Fierce button
Godlike Anti air
Armored specials

Cons

Can be Zoned more easily over the Other Grapplers
Stupid jumping hurtbox that causes fireballs to hit him behind him off screen
Can easily be whiffed punished
every character has specific combos on him
TOO MUCH RECOVERY on moves
Slowest walk speed of all the grapplers
Too many bad match ups
His super Cancel is still slow that you might as well just let it chip your opponent anyway

Whats worst is that all his bad matchups are popular characters that got buffed (Shotos,Blanka,Juri etc…)

It’s mostly used if you miss so you’re not as open to a counter attack.

On that note do the three punch buttons change his super at all?

The reason you do super feint is so that you can flex on your opponent.

Show them who is boss and whatnot.

The first time I did it, I did it by accident, and I thought it was the coolest fucking thing I’d ever seen.

Can he be zoned more easily? I think that’s debatable. Maybe slightly easier but it ain’t that easy. At mid range you have to worry about Hugo slapping you, elbowing you, straight up running through your shit to clothesline or grab you, FADCing through to slam you, or just straight up jumping over it.

If someone is waiting to whiff punish Hugo, they’re giving up space and waiting for a button. If you’re giving space to Hugo, you’re tightening the rope around your neck.

His heavier buttons have the recovery on them. The same could be said for the other grapplers for the most part. Try jumping in on s.LK or his LP buttons while I’m fishing for something in mid range and see if I don’t back break that shit.

What should I be doin from bout 3 steps away from an opponent whenever I get to that sort of range anything I try seems to get stuffed by dp’s n whatever??

He’s not weak, he’s just very difficult to use by design. None of us have been playing Hugo for more than 2 weeks…this stuff takes time. You gotta go into matches expecting to do well, if you keep the negative mindset then you’re setting yourself up for failure from the start.

i think hugo is a fun character, but competitively? I think capcom dropped the ball on that.

I can’t see this character being tourney viable at all; way too many bad matchups, hardly (if any) good matchups. He just seems like he’d be an albatross around your neck if you wanted to take him to a major, especially when there are way easier characters to play and do well with. He basically took Hawk’s place as the worst grappler imo.

its a damn shame cause i was more interested in him out of all the new characters.i wish capcom brought back his old F.HP because the current one seems very odd when you hit someone with it… sigh time to main rolento.

taunting in a bad matchup is seriously f***ed :confused:

When my opponent taunts I just build meter hoping I can put it to good use.

How do I do hugos kara UT??

I kara UT with lp clap. So, hcb and plink lp + lk or mk+hk for EX UT. Two methods that are the most comfortable for me.

keep in mind when people do that they:

  1. are huge fag-gots (lol srk has censors now)
  2. have no friends
    i also feel dhalsim is one of the matches in hugos favor

anymore insight about that “dhalsim vs hugo is in hugos favor” claim? I dont see anyway how that would be in his favor

Well, if you manage to catch Dhalsim, you’ll get a HUGE chunk of his life.
Before that, you can basically just stay full screen holding down+back. If he throws yoga fire and teleport, you neutral jump+splash him (you’ll get hit by the yoga fire but wathever)
His long range limbs won’t chip damage you, so…

The only thing he can do is try to get close and Yoga Sniper, wich you can EX backbreaker and U2 EVEN ON HIT.

I’m a Dhalsim and Hugo player and I really think this matchup is 5-5. If he zones you perfectly and you can’t even trade, he’ll win. But if you trade with him only once, the round is yours, unless you decide to keep walking foward and eat his limbs.

^ That’s exactly what I was thinking about. Hugo just needs to trade a couple of times with Sim then turtle full screen. There’s no reason to get in once you have a lead. Just sit on dat potato ass and block. The way I see it Dhalsim needs to chip you with like 10-15 fireballs and you only need 1-2 trades to get a lead again. If you make a mistake, he won’t punish very hard. But if Sim messes up it’s half his life + a setup.

Of course it’s still though because you can’t really whiff punish him, you just throw buttons out there and hope you trade. But if you whiff something big Sim can whiff punish for a small chunk of damage. And his limbs + chip damage can add up quickly. But once again you only need to trade or get in when you’re losing.
