Because technically, it’s already been announced?
Remember that Ono trolled us a bit when IGN asked him if Capcom x Nintendo would be a possibility. Nintendo wants to have a new Smash to push their new comsole, and we know that Sakurai isn’t interested in making it. Although, he also said that after Melee came out, and then he worked on Brawl. But assuming he really won’t work on it, and Nintendo doesn’t mind outsourcing their big franchises these days (Retro Studios developing Metroid Prime Trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns), perhaps this Nintendo x Capcom crossover Smash Bros may be a possibility.
Personally, I want Darkstalkers 4 (Vampire Saivor is my favorite FG). Would be interesting to see KI3. Might bring Rare back to the top, which I would love to see,as many of my favorite games growing up were developed by them. Blood Roar is a possibility too, as they did have some work done before it was canned.

I do think that the general populace considers Smash a fighter. Hell you should see what passes for fighter in this day and age. Look at what they have in the fighting game section of Gamestop, Best Buy or other major retailers. Thats why I wouldn’t be surprised if Smash Bros Cafe ends up being the announcement.

If it’s a new smash, then hopefully it won’t be as slow as brawl was. However, it’s quite nice that I can eat chicken sandwich or read a book while playing it.

ArcSystems VS. Capcom. Daisuke Ishiwatari worked as programmer on MVC3, so Arc/Capcom probably don’t hate each other or anything. If Darkstalkers 4 stalls, they could just go weird on this one.

I wouldn’t get too excited. They’re probably either talking about 3rd Strike or Soul Calibur, both of which have already been announced, I just don’t put too much faith in gaming journalism. I hope I get surprised though.
I have no guilt whatsoever. Playing a high tier character is a nice break from my Vanilla Sakura/Super Makoto/MvC3 Hsien Ko and Shuma Gorath low tier testicle crushing I put myself through.
